Tonsillar tuberculosis, almost always secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis is very rare disease in otolaryngologic fields. Authors have experienced a case of tonsillar tuberculosis associated with miliary pulmonary tuberculosis. The patient had cough, sputum and sore throat for 1 month. On physical examinations, palatine tonsils were slightly hypertrophied, smoothly surfaced, but crypt ulceration or patches were not seen. Diffuse discrete nodules were seen in both lung fields by simple chest X-ray. In high resolution computed tomography, miliary tuberculosis was suspected and in pleural needle biopsy, granulomatous inflammaiton was diagnosed as tuberculosis. AFB smear of sputum was two positive. Histopatholoigic finding of right tonsil was consistent with tuberculosis. He was cured of it with antituberculosis medications for one year. We report the case with review of the literatures.

Venture entails danger. Danger arise from feeling of uneasiness for future. In ancient China, people would predict their own future by observing natural phenomenon and constellations. With I Ching(The Book of Changes), ancient Chinese people predict their unstable future days. Even modern men are not free from desire to know their veiled tomorrow. What is the meaning of divination regarding human matters and questions? How should we understand the meaning of fortune-telling? These questions are the main concern of this essay but rudimentary one though. The I Ching is one of the Five Classics, the fundamental books of Confucianism. And one of the oldest forms of divination. I Ching develops confucianism in terms of fortune-telling, divination, which is the very unique aspect and different from the rest of Classics. In this respect, I want to examine the meaning of divination in view of Confucianism. When you have yourself predicted by diagrams, uninterested pure mind and attitude are necessarily required. With no secular desire and interests, you ask your matters and questions. According to Confucianism, Ren Xin(仁心) is the purest mind: a fundamental source of moral practices. Every 64 trigrams ought to be interpreted variously by situation who are engaged in. Nevertheless, there exist a common factor for divination by I Ching: that is Ren Xin. On the basis of Ren Xin, divination serves its own true function.

문자영상 紬線化에서의 雜音除去 알고리즘에 관한 연구

In this paper, we study thinning algorithms which are peeling off successive contours of the character image to be thinned while keeping the connectivity of the skeleton in the process. Noise rejection algorithm is proposed for the purpose of removing the common short-comings of thinning algorithms when applied to hand-printed data. The algorithm consists of the three processings: preprocessing, thinning, and postprocessing. The preprocessing smooths down the originally-thick image and the postprocessing leads to the well-groomed skeleton. The noise rejection algorithm is implemented with FORTRAN language and tested through a CYBER170-825 computer system.

시대성(zeitgeist)에 따른 typography : typography의 미학을 결정짓는 요인들에 대한 연구

There is a German word called zeitgeist and it means the sprit of time in English. Typographic design is a very useful tool for showing the sprit of time. For this reason, the purpose of this thesis is to investigate the strong relationship between technology and typographic form. In chapter two, I wrote about the fundamental concept of language as a method of human communication, defining what language is and what its components are. In chapter three, the historical development of language, especially in the typographic form, was traced. Chapter four and five treated relationship between new technology and modern typographic design.

이개에 발생한 혈관평활근종 1례

Angioleiomyoma is a benign tumor of smooth muscle origin arising from the muscularis layer of blood vessel walls. The tumor a form of subcutaneous vascular leiomyoma that usually occurs in the extremities. They are usually located at the lower extremities and rarely located at head and neck region. Although angioleiomyoma has been described in the head and neck region, it extremely rarely occurs in the auricle. The tumors are usually small(2 to 15mm). round, firm, skin-colored, and encapsulated. The incidence in female is higher than male, a ratio of 1.7 to 1.0. The diagnosis is angioleiomyoma via histology. The treatment of angioleiomyoma is complete surgical excision and recurrence after excision is rare. Recently we experienced a case of angioleiomyoma of the auricle. So the case will be discussed with literature review.

Trigger point를 利用한 口眼괘斜 患者 10例에 대한 臨床的 考察

From July 1th 2001 to October 31th 2001, the Clinical investigation studies were carried out 10 cases of patient with Bell's palsy using Trigger point treatment group, who had been treated in Han-seung Oriental Medical Clinic. The results were like below : 1. The distribution of sex : Male were 4cases, female were 6case and the female to male ratio was 1.5 : 1. 2. The distribution of contributing factor : Unknown reason was most predominant 4 cases, and then were revealed to labor too hard, menttal stress(3 cases), trauma·common cold(1 case) in turn. 3. The distribution of perid to fall ill : Under a week was the most number 6cases, and then were revealed a week under two weeks(3 cases), over two weeks(1 case) in turn. 4. About period of treatment : The Trigger point treatment group is shorter than the Acupuncture treatment group. 5. The distribution of grade on admission in descending order : GrⅠ was the most number and then GrⅡ, GrⅢ in turn. 6. The distribution of clinical symptoms on adimission : Mastoid pain was the most number 9 cases and then lacrimal gland disorder 8 cases, dysgeusia 4 cases, hyperacusis 2 cases, the others 2 cases in turn. 7. About effect of treatment : The Trigger point treatment group is more excellent than the Acupuncture treatment group. 8. The more patient age is young, the more effect of treatment was excellent, had nothing to do with both groups. 9. The more perid to fall ill is short, the more effect of treatment was excellent, had nothing to do with both groups. 10. About period of improved frontal belly : The Trigger point treatment group is more excellent than the Acupuncture treatment group.

동방결절의 전기적특성에 미치는 Higenamine의 효과

The rabbit sinoatrial node was cut into small pieces which wew 0.5×0.5㎜ in sizes, electrically insulated and could be partitioned into central and peripheral areas. Glass microelectrodes were impaled into both areas and transmenbrane potentials were recorded in order to observe the changes in effects of higenamine on the both areas by the addition of TEA, Cs^+ and Ba^2+ or pretreatment of propranolol. 1. Effects of higenamine were more prominent in high K^+ concentration than those in the low K^+ concentration. 2. TEA induced the decrease in the spontaneous firing rate and the prolongation in the action potential duration which could be reversed by higenamine. 3. Ther were prominent decrease of spontaneous firing rate and the prolongation in the action potential duration in peripheral area with the uncrease of Cs^+ concentration. Higenamine reversed the decrease of spontaneous firing rate in some degree. 4. There were significant decreases of spontaneous firing rate, amplitude of action potential and maximum diastolic potential by the Ba^2+ in peripheral area. Effects of Ba^2+ were reversed by higenamine in central area. 5. The effects of higenamine were completely blocked by the pre-treatment of propranolol. 6. There was no effect of higenamine of the Na-K pump activities. The above results could be interpreted as effects of higenamine were mediated by the chamge of calcium ion current rether than those of the potassium ion current in sinoatrial nodes.

굴 養殖場 水域의 基礎生産 硏究

The primary production of phytoplankton in oyster farming bays were seasonally measured by ^14C method in Hansan-Koje Bay and Kamagyang Bay for one year period. In Hansan-Koje Bay, mean daily primary production was 0.52gC/㎡/day(0.22∼1.02gC/㎡/day), and it was relatively high in summer and low in winter. Annual primary production was estimated to be 189gC/㎡/yr. Mean chlorophyll α content was 1.70mg/㎥, and it was relatively high in summer. In Kamagyang Bay, mean daily primary production was 0.91gC/㎡/day(0.11∼3.61gC/㎡/day), and it was maximum in summer and minimum in fall. Annual primary production was estimated to be 334gC/㎡/yr. Mean chlorophyll α concentration was 2.34mg/㎥, and it was maximum in summer and relatively high in winter. Considering the water area of the two osyter farming bays, annual carbon production by phytoplankton were 9,450 ton in Hansan-Koje Bay and 37,000 ton in Kamagyang Bay. In general pattern of primary production in these bays, high production occurs in summer with increasing trend since spring.

상처치유시 Antisense TGF-β1 Oligodeoxynucleotides가 Inducible Nitric Oxide Synthase발현 조절에 미치는 영향

Wound healing in the skin may be complicated by both microbial invasion and inflammation. Following injury, platelet degranulation releases a number of chemotactic factors including transforming growth factor (TGF-fl) and platelet derived growth factor (PDGF). TGF-19 is a cytokines that modulates many cellular function and gene expression. However, it is not known whether TGF-P could regulate inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) gene expression during wound healing. Here we report that down regulation of TGF-Q gene expression by antisense oligodeoxynucleotides increase iNOS during wound healing. Our reverse transcription- polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) result has shown that antisense TGF-fil oligodeoxynucleotides (ODN) targeting the TGF-J11 translation initiation region markedly reduced TGF-(il mRNA levels in wounded skin. Also, marked reduction in TGF-fl1 mRNA after antisense treatment invited that the increment of iNOS mRNA in wounded skin. Therefore, our irnmunohistochemical studies revealed a "pattern of iNOS product in wounded skin treated antisense TGF-fl1 ODN that was similar to the pattern of RNA synthesis detected by RT-PCR. In conclusion, our results indicated that the regulatory actions of TGF fl1 on iNOS. might be involved in the initiation and faciliates the resolution of inflammation following wounding.

지방자치단체의 시각이미지 개성화에 관한 연구

Since the early nineties with the implementation of the local autonomy system, to power up the competitiveness of the country, the Bodies of popular election system had adopted C.I.P.(Country Identity program) which strengthens the image individuality of the local district. Each self-governing bodies of the province, country or city had standardized every visual objects, established simplified and effective administrative process and shaped the unity and consensus among the authority and people by promoting the communication among them. They also had succeeded on increased income through the effective public advertizing information with the aids of Country Identity Program system, and also succeeded on increased tourism income by turning environment and local characters into tourism resource. Yesan county is made of 12 Eup(town) and Myun(subcountry) with the total population of 101,000 and low competitiveness of financial independence. Based on the master plan of the administrative officials and through the local awareness census, the image to represent the future authority of Yesan county was settled down with the shapes and colors. Based on the history, culture, environment, industries and tourism resources of Yesan county, proper shapes and colors was chosen and character design was bulit upon the local specialty apple. The manual for the new C.I.P system is consisted of 31 basic system including symbol mark and country logo-type, 50 items of stationary system, sign system, vehicle application system and so on. The manual for Yesan county's Image characterizing system should be followed by constant and coherent management to guarantee to carry out the original idea. It is also advised to set up exclusive division office and officials to monitor the output qualities of the actual C.I.P posts and signs to meet the original idea of the new C.I.P system.
