        Algal bioassay 에 의한 조류생장 제한영양염류 결정

        Determination of Limiting Nutrient for Algal Growth by Algal Bioassay. Oh, Hee-Mock, Seog June Lee, Seong-Bin Kim, Mi- Kyung Park, Byung-Dae Yoon and Do-Han Kim (Environmental Microbiology Research Unit, Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology, Taejon 305-333, Korea and Water Resources Research Institute, Korea Water Resources Corporation, Taejon 305-390, Korea) Water quaiity and algal growth potential (AGP) using Microcystis aeruginosa were investigated from April to September 1997 in Daechung Reservoir. Secchi disk transparency was 1.1 m in August. Chlorophyll-a concentrations were higher than 10㎍/l at all samples. Total phosphorus concentration was in a range of 0.020∼0.027mg/l which is at the approximate value of 0.03 mg/l, the general critical level of eutrophication. These results indicate that Daechung Reservoir is in an eutrophic state except some temporary times and restricted sites. Phosphorus uptake rate of M. aeruginosa was higher in the water from the epilimnion than in the hypolimnion and also higher under light condition than under dark condition. Therefore, phosphorus uptake rate appears to depend on cellular phosphorous content and light condition, a meaning of endergonic process. Phosphorus was the most frequently limiting nutrient: phosphorus was limiting algal gowth in April and May, nitrogen, phosphorus and trace elements were the limiting factors for algae in August, and trace elements in September. If a fast growing alga, M, aeruginosa, is used as a test organism for assaying AGP, in vivo fluorescence instead of dry weight can be measured for algal biomass and incubation period can be reduced from traditional 14 days to 7 days.

      • Infected Epidermoid Cyst Including Multiple Nails at the Amputated Thumb Stump: A Case Report

        Fingertip amputation is a common injury among trauma occurring in the upper extremity. After amputation of the fingertip, there are several treatment options according to the degree of damage. Also, the skin flap is sometimes performed when skin defects are accompanied. Among the complications associated with fingertip injury, cyst formation at the amputation stump is rare but some cases have been reported based on the pathologic findings. There was a case of an infected epidermal inclusion cyst containing multiple nail plates at the amputation stump of the thumb, so we would like to report it with a review of the literature.

      • 무한 Ridge에서 수심에 따른 흐름 변동에 관한 연구

        To study on the zonal flow variation over infinite ridge with various depth potential condervative vorticity equation at three layer depth is derived by using Lossby's equation. By comparing with analytic model of two layer depth infinite ridge and that of three layer one, flow stream line variation patterns are found clearly. The stream line pattern changes propotion to the depth variations. The developed analytic model is good agreement with Rossby's theory and shows the applicability of the real ocean state.

        경주 최부자 가문의 양택을 통해 본 풍수인식에 관한 연구

        The purpose of this study is to research the feng-shui theory reflected in the philosophy of the Choi family upper class by analyzing the conditions of the feng-shui locations of the family-related sites. For this purpose, two residential areas(Chunguidang and Choi's Old House) have been selected. This study shows that two locations are highly suitable to feng-shui theory. The Choi family upper class was a Sajok during the Joseon dynasty in the Gyeong-Ju region who understood feng-shui theory very well. Their recognition of feng-shui was expressed via their search for the best site(Myungdang) and their application of the Bibo concept to improve minor defects in their settlement area in terms of feng-shui. This study is limited to analysis of two residential areas of the Choi family except their graves. Nevertheless, this study shows a part of recognitions of feng-shui of Sajok during the Joseon dynasty in the Gyeong-Ju region. This study helps people better understand the philosophy and thought of the Choi family upper class. 본 연구의 목적은 경주 최부자 가문 유적지의 風水적 특성을 분석하고, 이에 담겨 있는 최부자 가문의 풍수적 인식을 고찰하는 것이다. 이를 위한 연구대상으로 최부자 가문의 주요 양택지 두 곳인 내남 이조리 충의당과 교동 고택을 선정하였다.연구 결과, 충의당과 교동 고택 모두 양택지로서의 길지 조건을 갖추고 있었다. 이를 통해 조선시대 경주지역 사족인 최부자 가문 역시 그들의 생활 철학 속에 풍수적 인식을 상당 부분 보유하고 있었으며, 이러한 풍수적인식이 吉地를 찾고 定住地의 풍수적 결함을 裨補하는 등의 실제적인 노력으로 표출되었음을 알 수 있었다. 그리고 그들의 풍수적 인식이 교동 시대인 조선 후기로 갈수록 발전하였음을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구의 한계점은 최부자 가문의 양택에만 국한된 분석이며, 음택을 연구 대상에서 제외시킨 것이다. 그럼에도 불구하고 본 연구는 조선후기 경주지역 사족의 풍수 인식의 일면을 보여주고, 동시에 최부자 가문의 생활철학과 사상에 대한 이해를 한층 높이는 데에도 일조할 수 있다는 데에 본 연구의 의의가 있다 하겠다.

      • Oualbain과 Verapamil이 심근칼슘저장고에 미치는 영향

        The control isometric contraction of rabbit papillary muscle preparations were recorded by the stimulation 'frequency of 1 Hz. and priming stimulation were applied to activate the intracellular calcium by the stimulation frequency of 5 Hz. for 5 seconds. After the resting period, the amplitudes of contraction, were compared with that of control and the ratios were plotted with respect to time in a semi-log paper. The experiments were performed in a control Tyrode solution, high calcium solution, ouabain solution and verapamil solution. The following results were obtained; 1. la a normal Tyrode solution, the fast compartment which is responsible for the fast decay of intracellular calcium within 3-5 seconds after the priming stimuli and the slow compartment, slowly decayed one after 5 seconds, could be identified. 2. Although the fast components showed no significant differences between those in a normal Tyrode solution and in a high calcium (4mM) solution, the slow components showed a rather increasing tendency during the normal initial decay period up to 20 seconds and later on a decreasing tendency. 3. In a ouabain, 2.4 -4.8×10^-7M, treated preparation the amplitude of contraction during the control period was increased up to 1.5 times compared with that in a normal Tyrode solution and the characteristics of calcium pools were qualitatively similar to those in high calcium solution. 4. In a verapamil, 1.1×10^-6M, containing solution the amplitude of control contraction were reduced to two thirds compared with that in normal Tyrode solution and the fast component were markedly influenced, reversed its slope to increase slowly up to 20 seconds and then decayed. 5. The characteristics of intracellular calcium pools la a preparation of verapamil and high calcium conditions at the same time showed rather similar patterns with those in verapamil alone treated preparation. The above results showed that the intracelluar calcium pools were composed of two components which were fast and slow decaying ones, and that ouabain and verapamil would alter the characteristics of the calcium pools to increase and decrease the intracellular calcium respectively.

      • 개구리 정맥동(Sinus Venosus)의 전기적 성질에 관한 연구

        The frog sinus venosus were studied with conventional glass microelectrode technique in order to elucidate the underlying mechanism of spontaneous pacemaker activity. The analyses were focussed on the ionic nature of pacemaker current by changing the concentrations of extracellular K^+ and/Na^+, or by using blockers of K- and Ca-current and chronotropic transmitters. 1. The action potential sinus venosus has some characteristic feature of maximal diastolic potential ranged from -65 to -75mV, resting potential from -45 to -50 mV and overshoot voltage about +20mV, respectively. Duration of the action potential taken from rapid upstroke to maximal diastolic potential was about 600 msec. Usual discharge rate was 30~35/min at room temperature(18~20℃). 2. In Ringer solution containing 50% Na(substituted by equimolar Tris) reduction of extracellular sodium concentrations diminished the amplitude and frequency of the action potential. And 0 and 11 mm Na hyperpolarize the restal membrane potential greatly. It suggest the resting Na Conductance is significantly high in sinus venosus. 3. Caesium(10mM), K-current blocker decreased pacemaker depolarization. Manganese(2mM) known to be Ca-current antagonist, blocked spontaneous activity completely. 4. Adrenaline and acetylcholine showed positive and negative chronotropic effect. It is concluded that K-, Na- and Ca-current components are involved in the genesis of spontaneous activity of the frog sinus venosus like other cardiac pacemaker tissues.
