Adenocarcinomas (AC) are the most frequently encountered carcinomas. It may be quite challenging to detect the primary origin when those carcinomas metastasize and the first finding is a metastatic tumor. This study evaluated the role of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) positivity in tumor cells in the subclassification and detection of the original organ of adenocarcinomas. Between 1994 and 2008, 64 sections of normal tissue belonging to ten organs, and 116 cases diagnosed as adenoid cystic carcinoma and mucoepidermoid carcinoma of the salivary gland, lung adenocarcinoma, invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast, adenocarcinoma of stomach, colon, gallbladder, pancreas and prostate, endometrial adenocarcinoma and serous adenocarcinoma and mucinous adenocarcinoma of the ovary, were sent to the laboratory at the Department of Pathology at the Yuzuncu Yil University School of Medicine, where they were stained immunohistochemically, using antibodies against SHBG. The SHBG immunoreactivity in both the tumor cells and normal cells, together with the type, diffuseness and intensity of the staining were then evaluated. In the differential diagnosis of the adenocarcinomas of the organs, including the glandular structures, impressively valuable results are encountered in the tumor cells, whether the SHBG immunopositivity is evaluated alone or together with other IHC markers. Further extensive research with a larger number of cases, including instances of cholangiocarcinoma and cervix uteri AC [which we could not include in the study for technical reasons] should be performed, in order to appropriately evaluate the role of SHBG in the differential diagnosis of AC.

In this paper, by means of the $S{\breve{a}}l{\breve{a}}gean$ operator, we introduce a new subclass $\mathcal{B}^{m,n}_{\Sigma}({\gamma};{\varphi})$ of analytic and bi-univalent functions in the open unit disk $\mathbb{U}$. For functions belonging to this class, we consider Fekete-$Szeg{\ddot{o}}$ inequalities.

PURPOSE. Cementation failures of restorations are frequently observed in clinical practice. The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of initial and repeated bonding on the bond strengths of different resin cements to enamel and dentin. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Ninety human maxillary central incisors were bisected longitudinally. The 180 tooth halves were divided into 2 groups (n = 90) for enamel and dentin bonding. The enamel and dentin groups were further divided into 3 groups (n = 30) for different resin cement types. Composite resin (Filtek Ultimate) cylinders ($3{\times}3\;mm$) were prepared and luted to enamel and dentin using Variolink II (Group V), RelyX ARC (Group R), or Panavia F 2.0 (Group P) resin cement. After 24 hours, initial shear bond strengths of the resin cements to enamel and dentin were measured. Using new cylinders, the specimens were de-bonded and re-bonded twice to measure the first and the second bond strengths to enamel and dentin. Failure modes and bonding interfaces were examined. Data were statistically analyzed. RESULTS. Initial and repeated bond strengths to enamel were similar for all the groups. The first ($15.3{\pm}2.2\;MPa$) and second ($10.4{\pm}2.2\;MPa$) bond strengths to dentin were significantly higher in Group V (P<.0001). Second bond strengths of dentin groups were significantly lower than initial and first bond strengths to dentin (P<.0001). CONCLUSION. All resin cements have similar initial and repeated bond strengths to enamel. Variolink II has the highest first and second bond strength to dentin. Bond strength to dentin decreases after the first re-bonding for all resin cements.

In this paper, we obtain initial coefficient bounds for an unified subclass of analytic functions by using the Chebyshev polynomials. Furthermore, we find the Fekete-$Szeg{\ddot{o}}$ result for this class. All results are sharp. Consequences of the results are also discussed.
COEFFICIENT ESTIMATES FOR A NEW GENERAL SUBCLASS OF ANALYTIC BI-UNIVALENT FUNCTIONS
Bulut, Serap The Kangwon-Kyungki Mathematical Society 2021 한국수학논문집 Vol.29 No.3
In a very recent paper, Yousef et al. [Anal. Math. Phys. 11: 58 (2021)] introduced two new subclasses of analytic and bi-univalent functions and obtained the estimates on the first two Taylor-Maclaurin coefficients |a2| and |a3| for functions belonging to these classes. In this study, we introduce a general subclass 𝔅h,pΣ(λ, μ, 𝛿) of analytic and bi-univalent functions in the unit disk 𝕌, and investigate the coefficient bounds for functions belonging to this general function class. Our results improve the results of the above mentioned paper of Yousef et al.

The heavy metals are released into the environment due to the activities such as meeting the increasing demand for energy, industrial activities, and agricultural pesticides. In many studies, the heavy metals have been proven to have genotoxic effects. As a result of burning the lignite coal in thermal power plants, the heavy metals of Cr, Fe, Mn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Zn, and Ni are spread into the environment within the ashes. In the present study, the gene expression levels were examined on the corn and wheat plants added with 500-m interval around the thermic power plant. For this purpose, the genes from 14-3-3 protein family, expression level of which increases under abiotic stress conditions, were analyzed. For the expression levels of plants, the $2^{-{\Delta}{\Delta}C_t}$ values were calculated and then compared to $2^{-{\Delta}{\Delta}C_t}$ values of ${\beta}$-actin gene, that is, the housekeeping gene. The heavy metal content analyses of the samples were carried out using ICP-MS, and it was determined that there were many heavy metals at higher amounts within the structure of samples having low level of gene expression. It has been understood that heavy metal stress causes a difference in gene expression level. The change introduced by heavy metal stress into the gene expression occurs in concrete in the translation products. The level of stress-induced gene expression, which is caused by heavy metals in the environment surrounding the plant, has been successfully determined by RT-PCR.

Purpose: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is increasingly being recognized as a metabolic disease in recent studies. The aim of the present study was to identify the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its association with RCC among urologic patients. Materials and Methods: The study included a total of 355 participants (117 adult RCC patients and 238 age matched controls) divided into groups, with and without MetS diagnosed using the criteria of the American Heart Association/The National Heart Lung and Blood Institute. Groups were compared statistically and logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the impact of MetS criteria on RCC risk. Results: Of the 117 RCC patients, 52 (44.4%) and of the 238 controls, 37 (15.5%) had MetS. A significant association (p<0.001) was found between the presence of MetS and RCC (OR: 4.35; 95% CI=2.62-7.21). As the number of MetS components accumulated from 3 to 5, RCC risk increased likewise from 4 to 6 times. Conclusions: MetS is more prevalent in RCC patients in Turkey compared to controls. Risk increases with the number of coexisting MetS components.
CERTAIN PROPERTIES OF A NEW SUBCLASS OF ANALYTIC AND p-VALENTLY CLOSE-TO-CONVEX FUNCTIONS
BULUT, Serap The Honam Mathematical Society 2017 호남수학학술지 Vol.39 No.2
In the present paper we introduce and investigate an interesting subclass ${\mathcal{K}}^{(k)}_s({\gamma},p) $ of analytic and p-valently close-to-convex functions in the open unit disk ${\mathbb{U}}$. For functions belonging to this class, we derive several properties as the inclusion relationships and distortion theorems. The various results presented here would generalize many known recent results.
COEFFICIENT BOUNDS FOR CLOSE-TO-CONVEX FUNCTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH VERTICAL STRIP DOMAIN
Bulut, Serap Korean Mathematical Society 2020 대한수학회논문집 Vol.35 No.3
By considering a certain univalent function in the open unit disk 𝕌, that maps 𝕌 onto a strip domain, we introduce a new class of analytic and close-to-convex functions by means of a certain non-homogeneous Cauchy-Euler-type differential equation. We determine the coefficient bounds for functions in this new class. Relevant connections of some of the results obtained with those in earlier works are also provided.
