THE ADVERTISING APPEAL OF GENUINUITY
Brian ‘t Hart,Ian Phau,Min Teah,Isaac Cheah 글로벌지식마케팅경영학회 2017 Global Fashion Management Conference Vol.2017 No.07
This research aims to provide a conceptual framework to explore how consumers respond to genuinuity claims made by organisations and how it affects perceptions towards the brand. Further, this proposal explores the influence of brand familiarity and inferences of manipulative intent on consumer’s cognition of the genuine claim. The Affect Transfer Hypothesis, Dual Mediation Hypothesis, Independent Influence Hypothesis and Reciprocal Mediation Hypothesis Models are tested parallel to determine the most effective model in line with previous studies. A total of 12 studies have been designed, comparing across 4 different levels of genuinuity, and 3 different product categories (luxury car brands, luxury hotels & spa resorts). A self-administered survey will be used while collecting data using panel data and mall intercept to ensure the ecological validity of the study. The study contributes conceptually by proposing a conceptual definition for genuinuity appeals. It contributes methodologically in its development of a brand genuinuity scale. Finally, the study will contribute managerially by providing practitioners, policy makers and firms with new ways to distinguish themselves as genuine amongst the clutter of unsubstantiated claims and to change consumer’s perceptions of industries such as banks which are renowned for unsubstantiated claims.

Recreating the Past in the Present: Methodological Strategies and Challenges
Brian Cherwick(Brian Cherwick ) 한국캐나다학회 2009 Asia-Pacific Journal of Canadian Studies (APJCS) Vol.14·15 No.-
Museums that incorporate first-person interpretation provide their visitors with a dynamic means of engaging with the past. In order to accurately present the activities and physical surroundings of actual individuals, such museums must rely on detailed background research. What happens when the most direct connections to the past are not available: when the people to be portrayed, the settlements they lived in, and the industries they engaged in no longer exist? Accurate information regarding specific individuals, their physical spaces and the objects used in their everyday lives can be obtained using creative methodological tools. This paper will discuss some of those tools as applied to one example from east central Alberta.
Brian Z. Tamanaha, 이상진(Lee, Sang - Jin) 원광대학교 법학연구소 2010 圓光法學 Vol.26 No.3
This article, an abridged Korean translation of “Understanding Legal Pluralism: Past to Present, Local to Global” by Brian Z. Tamanaha, explains about the conceptual problem plaguing legal pluralism and introduces a probable solution. Based on this conclusion, it devises a framework which categorizes the legal pluralism phenomena and further explores how these categories clash to what results. Legal pluralism has been heralded by scholars of legal anthropology, legal sociology, comparative law and international law as the theory elucidating the daunting multiplicity of legal orders. But despite all this attention, legal pluralism was marked by conceptual confusion from the very beginning. Participants of legal pluralism come from different disciplines, bringing different concepts and orientations to the subject. Also theorists were not able to agree on a single definition of law for social scientific purposes. If law is defined too broadly, it becomes impossible to discern from other social relationships. This article suggests a solution by regarding law as a “folk concept”; in other words law is what people think of as law. This simple approach can be expanded into a framework that divides the phenomena of legal pluralism into the following six categories: Official legalsystems; Customary/Cultural normative systems; Religious/Cultural normative systems; Economic/Capitalist normative systems; Functional normative systems; Community/Cultural normative systems. A single social arena can have one or more of these legal orders; co-existing legal orders tend to clash with each other for supremacy in redundant areas. Most often official legal systems tend to clash with the other five normative systems mentioned above. In such situations, the official legal system copes with the conflict in either of three ways. First, the official legal system might disallow the competing system but take no action to repress it. Second, the official legal system might absorb the competing system. Third, the official legal system might denounce the competing system, and then actively execute that claim. But if the competing system is more prominent in the social arena than the official legal system, the above methods might not operate as expected. Other from the prior systematic approach, the conflict between normative systems can be viewed from the perspective of individuals and groups. Strategic actors resort to the legal system that aligns with their cause and in making this decision they consider the barriers that exist in connection with each system. The forgoing framework brings on the same plane much of what is discussed by scholars interested in legal pluralism. Now with the conceptual problem of legal pluralism resolved, this framework will work as a practical tool in handling the plurality of law in all societies.
Online Implementation of DynaMIT: A Prototype Traffic Examination and Prediction Program
Byungkyu(Brian) Park,이조영,Devi M. Pampati,Brian L. Smith 대한토목학회 2008 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.12 No.2
This paper presents a pilot study of conducting an online implementation of DynaMIT, one of traffic estimation and prediction(TrEP) programs developed by an MIT research team with the support from the U.S. Federal Highway Administration, in HamptonRoads, VA, U.S.A. As a first step, a test-bed network was cbefore evaluating the performance of the online implementation of DynaMIT. Based on the online implementation of DynaMIT forthree days, it was found that DynaMIT showed fairly good performance on the estimation and prediction of the sensor counts withthe root mean square normalized (RMSN) error ranges betwen 0.15 and 0.25 for estimations, and 0.25 and 0.4 for predictions. Eventhough speed and travel times showed some discrepancies, further investigations indicated that the performance of DynaMIT can besignificantly improved with adequately calibrated supply parameters.

식민지 조선에서 좋은 사업이었던 영화검열: 할리우드 제1차 황금기(1926-1936)의 부당이득 취하기
브라이언 이시즈(Brian Yecies) 동국대학교 한국문학연구소 2006 한국문학연구 Vol.0 No.30
Film Censorship as a Good Business in Colonial Korea: Profiteering From Hollywood's First Golden Age, 19261936" Brian YeciesBetween 1926 and 1936, cinema in colonial Korea was a vibrant business, involving the production of domestic films and the distribution and exhibition of American, British, Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Russian films. During this decade, the first golden age of American cinema in Korea, Hollywood films overwhelmingly dominated the Korean market. Korea was an important territory that Hollywood used in its overall global expansion campaign. Amid this globalization operation, the Government-General of Chsen’s film censorship apparatus was a financially self-sustaining operation. It paid for its operation by profiteering from the application of more than 6,700 American and 630 other countries’feature and non-feature films, a vast majority of which were approved with minor, if any, censorship changes. The Government- General’s systematization of film censorship policies was intended to obstruct Communist, revolutionary, and later, socialist themes rather than "Western" themesat least until the late 1930s, when the Japanese Department of Home Affairs began banning the import of American films and the Government-General intensified the suppression of Korean culture.
Interactive Marketing: Present and Future
Brian T. Ratchford Academy of Asian Business (AAB) 2015 Academy of Asian Business Review Vol.1 No.2
In the recent past, major innovations in information technology in the form of increased computer power, the Internet, improved software, mobile devices, and other product innovations, have had a major impact on marketing. In this paper I discuss the impact of these innovations in the following areas: big data, online search and advertising, mobile devices, online reviews and user generated content, social media, institutions, and secondary effects of the changes in technology. I summarize what is known about these areas, and also outline areas in need of further research. Trends indicate a need for people who can make raw data useful, a danger that marketing will lose control of the analysis of marketing data, an increase in competition driven by better information available to companies and consumers, and emergence of new institutions that result from the increasing ability of phone, computer, TV and other devices to perform the same functions.

In this study, high strain rate conditions were obtained using a compressive split-Hopkinson pressure bar test apparatus that adopted a new data acquisition and processing scheme utilizing a LabVIEW system. Quasi-static strain rate conditions were obtained using a universal testing machine. The material responses of three high-strength steels under high strain rate and quasi-static conditions were investigated. They were characterized using the Johnson-Cook constitutive model. Two other optional strain rate forms were substituted for the constitutive model to predict material flow stress, especially at high strain rates exceeding 104 s−1. The considered optional strain rate forms were the modified Johnson-Cook and Huh-Kang models, which both showed a non-linear relation between flow stress and logarithm strain rate. The material parameters in the constitutive equations of the three high-strength steels were evaluated by fitting and comparing the data over a wide range of strain rates.
