Bradshaw, Brian Korea Multimedia Society 2017 The journal of multimedia information system Vol.4 No.3
This study does a qualitative and quantitative analysis of how music by humming is being used by music educators in the classroom. Music by humming is part division of music information retrieval. In order to define what a music information retrieval system is first I need to define what it is. Berger and Lafferty (1999) define information retrieval as "someone doing a query to a retrieval system, a user begins with an information need. This need is an ideal document- perfect fit for the user, but almost certainly not present in the retrieval system's collection of documents. From this ideal document, the user selects a group of identifying terms. In the context of traditional IR, one could view this group of terms as akin to expanded query." Music Information Retrieval has its background in information systems, data mining, intelligent systems, library science, music history and music theory. Three rounds of surveys using question pro where completed. The study found that there were variances in knowledge, training and level of awareness of query by humming, music information retrieval systems. Those variance relationships where based on music specialty, level that they teach, and age of the respondents.
A Case Study: How Are The Multimedia Technology Being used by The Casino Gaming Industry
Bradshaw, Brian Korea Multimedia Society 2017 The journal of multimedia information system Vol.4 No.1
The purpose of this paper is to take a look at the current use of multimedia technology in the casino gaming industry. In Las Vegas, there are many things competing for attention, and capturing viewers' interests cannot be effectively accomplished with static posters or flyers at the front desk. What is at stake is billions of dollars in revenue. So understanding the use of multimedia technology in the pursuit of that revenue is a must. Las Vegas has developed some very innovative ways for the use of multimedia technologies that the rest of the business and medical world will soon adapt. Vegas recently faces major competition from Maco for the international business. Maintaining a high level of customer service is paramount in keeping its customer base.
Consonant-tone interaction in Siswati
Mary M. Bradshaw 한국음운론학회 2003 음성·음운·형태론 연구 Vol.9 No.2
This paper argues that Siswati is a three tone language, although it has traditionally been analyzed as a two tone language. Despite three audibly different tone levels, the presence of a L tone has been previously denied phonological status because it occurs primarily after depressor consonants. However, the existence of L tone lexically and grammatically as well as its actual behavior in consonant-tone interaction justify its phonological status, as argued here. In addition, Siswati provides an interesting example of the phenomenon of consonant-tone interaction. Depressor consonants in Siswati trigger a number of phonological effects involving tone spreading, tone shifting and the blocking of tone shift.

The name Golovinomyces cynoglossi s. lat. is traditionally applied to a complex of morphologically similar powdery mildews on hosts of the plant family Boraginaceae. The current species-level taxonomy within this complex is ambiguous due to the lack of phylogenetic examinations. The present study applied phylogenetic methods to clarify the taxonomy of G. cynoglossi s. lat. Phylogenetic analysis of rDNA ITS sequences retrieved from Asian, European and North American specimens revealed that G. cynoglossi s. lat. collections from different hosts involved several species in five clearly separated lineages. Clade I consists primarily of Golovinomyces cynoglossi s. str. on Cynoglossum. Clade III consists of Golovinomyces sequences retrieved from the host genera Symphytum and Pulmonaria. The taxa within clade III are now assigned to G. asperifoliorum comb. nov. Clade V encompasses G. cynoglossi s. lat. on the host genera Bothriospermum, Buglossoides, Echium, Myosotis, and Trigonotis. The taxa within clade V are now assigned to G. asperifolii comb. nov. The species concerned in this study were lecto- and epitypified to stabilize their nomenclature.
