Insight into the anti-corrosion performance of Acanthopanax senticosus leaf extract as eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in acidic medium

Bokai Liao,Zhigang Luo,Shan Wan,Lijuan Chen 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.117 No.-

In this work, the extract of acanthopanax senticosus leaf (ASLE), prepared using one-step pure waterextraction method, is firstly utilized as a sustainable eco-friendly corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel inacidic solutions. The corrosion inhibition efficiency is evaluated by weight loss method and electrochemicaltests, including electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiodynamic polarization curve. The compositions of ASLE are analyzed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, components andmicrostructures of corrosion products are characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectronspectroscopy. Results indicate that ASLE is successfully prepared using the clean productionprocess, and it can act as an efficient mixed-type corrosion inhibitor for Q235 carbon steel in 1 mol/LHCl. The maximum corrosion inhibition efficiency can reach 98.79 % after 144 h immersion with the additionof 150 mg/L. ASLE also displays the superior long-term corrosion inhibition performance. The protectivehydrophobic adsorption film can effectively retard the invasion of aggressive ions and inhibit thecorrosion of carbon steel in acidic service occasions.

Seasonal monitoring of urban heat island using multi-temporal Landsat and MODIS images in Tehran

        Mehdi Bokaie,Aliakbar Shamsipour,Padideh Khatibi,Ali Hosseini 서울시립대학교 도시과학연구원 2019 도시과학국제저널 Vol.23 No.2

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between seasonal changes in land surface temperature (LST) and various land use/land cover (LULC) classes in Tehran in 2010. For this purpose, urban heat island (UHI) cores were detected. The relationship between spatiotemporal variations of UHIs and the LULC classes was studied. The results showed that UHIs have different causes due to the type of LULC classes in the region. The average temperature of the five LULC classes in different seasons revealed full compliance of the spreading pattern of UHIs in the city with the type of LULC. Daytime and nighttime MODIS LST maps were prepared to verify the results. The daytime LST map also confirmed the compliance of the spatial pattern of UHIs with the types of LULC. The consequences from the nighttime LST map revealed the movement and conduction of main cores of heat islands towards the central and densely populated areas of the city, which could be expected to be due to the high absorption rate of heat during the day by unnatural materials and energy emissions at night.

Canine Lymphoma as a Possible Human Lymphoma Model: A Case-Series Study

        Saied Bokaie 한국임상수의학회 2023 한국임상수의학회지 Vol.40 No.3

Canine lymphoma (cL) is the most common hematopoietic cancer in dogs. Various determinants have been evaluated to find the predisposing factors in both human and canine lymphoma. Due to common risk factors and similar pathways, cL is considered a potential model for non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in humans. In this case-series study, major hospitals in Tehran consented to take part in this study and between the years of 2020-2022, provided us with 52 cL cases which were approved by the attended pathologist. We designed a questionnaire and collected information about the dogs and their owners. Most of the owners were women, young (younger than 50 years old), had at least diplomas and interestingly were housewives or househusbands. Male dogs with middle to old age (more than 6 years) were mostly referred. The most common characteristics were neutered, normal BCS, purebred, urban but not industrial residence, previous tobacco smoke exposure but no history of previous fungi- cide or pesticide exposure. Also, most of them did not have any previous auto- immune or immunosuppressive diseases. Presented characteristics should be considered risk determinants but to approve their validity, they should be further evaluated in epidemiological studies.

A Learning Control Strategy for Robot-assisted Bathing via Impedance Sliding Mode Technique With Non-repetitive Tasks

        Yuexuan Xu,Xin Guo,Bokai Xuan,Hao Sun,Gaowei Zhang,Jian Li,Xingyu Huo,Zhifeng Gu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2024 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.22 No.3

This paper investigates an impedance-based iterative learning sliding mode control scheme for robotassisted bathing, taking into consideration scenarios with unknown model parameters. Initially, the utilization ofimpedance control is not confined to merely adjusting the desired trajectory but is also instrumental in ensuringactive compliance control during the robot-assisted bathing procedure. Furthermore, an iterative learning control(ILC) is devised to estimate the iteration-invariant dynamic parameters, which are intricate and challenging to precisely ascertain in practical applications. To mitigate the effect of divergent initial conditions in ILC, a trajectoryreconstruction method is introduced, thus ensuring the convergence of tracking errors even when starting from random initial states. Moreover, an adaptive sliding mode control mechanism is proposed to counteract non-parametricexternal disturbances and the torque generated through human-machine interaction during the bathing process. Theconvergence of the double closed-loop system in both the time and iterative domains is demonstrated through theapplication of the composite energy function method. Eventually, the efficacy and superiority of the control strategyoutlined in this paper are jointly verified through co-simulation employing MATLAB and ADAMS.

Efficacy of Chamomile in the Treatment of Premenstrual Syndrome: A Systematic Review

Zahra Bostani Khalesi,Soheila Pirdadeh Beiranvand,Mahshid Bokaie 대한약침학회 2019 Journal of pharmacopuncture Vol.22 No.4

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) encompasses a vast array of physical and psychological symptoms. Of the herbal supplements mentioned for remedy PMS symptoms, chamomile used as an effective herbal medicine. The overall purpose of this review was to determine the efficacy of chamomile on the treatment PMS. An extensive research review using Web of Science, the Cochrane Controlled Trials Register database, PubMed, Chinese Biomedical Database (CBM), CINAHL, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Psych INFO, Social Science Research Network, SID, Google Scholar, Iran Doc, Magiran and Iran Medex. Eligible studies were identified from English and Persian databases, published between 1990 and 2019. Studies were screened independently by two researchers who performed the data extraction. Of Twenty-seven studies identified, Eight RCTs met our inclusion criteria. Chamomile has been used to treat PMS relief because of therapeutic properties such as anti-inflammatory effects (Chamazulene and α-Bisabolol); anti-spasmodic effects (Apigenin, Quercetin, and Luteolin, Metoxicomarin, Matrisin, and Phytoestrogens); anti-anxiety effects (Glycine,Flavonoid). The results of this review show that Chamomile is effective for the treatment of PMS. Based on these results, we believe that Chamomile can be used as good herbal medicine to treat in women with PMS.

      • Effects of subsequent curing on chloride resistance and microstructure of steam-cured mortar

        Hu, Yuquan,Hu, Shaowei,Yang, Bokai,Wang, Siyao Techno-Press 2020 Advances in concrete construction Vol.9 No.5

The influence of subsequent curing on the performance of fly ash contained mortar under steam curing was studied. Mortar samples incorporated with different content (0%, 20%, 50% and 70%) of Class F fly ash under five typical subsequent curing conditions, including standard curing (ZS), water curing(ZW) under 25℃, oven-dry curing (ZD) under 60℃, frozen curing (ZF) under -10℃, and nature curing (ZN) exposed to outdoor environment were implemented. The unsteady chloride diffusion coefficient was measured by rapid chloride migration test (RCM) to analyze the influence of subsequent curing condition on the resistance to chloride penetration of fly ash contained mortar under steam curing. The compressive strength was measured to analyze the mechanical properties. Furthermore, the open porosity, mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), x-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) were examined to investigate the pore characteristics and phase composition of mortar. The results indicate that the resistance to chloride ingress and compressive strength of steam-cured mortar decline with the increase of fly ash incorporated, regardless of the subsequent curing condition. Compared to ZS, ZD and ZF lead to poor resistance to chloride penetration, while ZW and ZN show better performance. Interestingly, under different fly ash contents, the declining order of compressive strength remains ZS>ZW>ZN>ZD>ZF. When the fly ash content is blow 50%, the open porosity grows with increase of fly ash, regardless of the curing conditions are diverse. However, if the replacement amount of fly ash exceeds a certain high proportion (70%), the value of open porosity tends to decrease. Moreover, the main phase composition of the mortar hydration products is similar under different curing conditions, but the declining order of the C-S-H gels and ettringite content is ZS>ZD>ZF. The addition of fly ash could increase the amount of harmless pores at early age.
