Themodynamic properties such as sublimation pressures, enthalpies and entropies of sublimation, enthalpies and entropies of solid argon are calcuated from O K to the triple point, using the vacancies-in -solid model. The Mie-Lennard-Jones 12, 6 potential in the uniform potential field is used. The results are compared with the calorimetric and sublimation pressure values, and are in a good agreement with the available calorimetric and sublimation pressure values.

Thin films of solid state were made from solutions of organic polymers of different molar mixtures of poly-N-vinyl carbazole (P.V.K) and 2,4,7 -trinitro-9 - fluorenone(T.N.F). The donor, P.V.K. and the acceptor, T.N.F. molecules form a charge transfer complex. Meassuring the color purity of the thin films by using the C.I.E color system we found that the color purity of these polymers was increasing as the molar ratio varied from 1:0.2 to 1:0.6, 0.2 and 0.6 being TNF. This means that these organic polymers form a charge transfer complex up to the molar ratio 1:0.6. It was also found that this charge transfer complex can be classified as intermediatly interacting one by electrical property of these polymers.

Lycii fructus is the fruit of Lycium chinense Miller and is part of the Solanaceae family. Lycii fructus produces various effects such as hypotensive, hypoglycemic, anti-pyretic, and anti-stress activities. Lycii fructus is known to contain betaine, carotene, nicotinic acid, zeaxanthin, and cerebroside. In the present study, the effects of Lycii fructus aqueous extract on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in murine raw 264.7 macrophage cells were investigated. In this study we utilized the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), Western blotting, and nitric oxide (NO) detection. Lycii fructus aqueous extract suppressed NO production by inhibiting the LPS-induced expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) mRNA and iNOS protein in murine raw 264.7 macrophage cells. Also, Lycii fructus aqueous extract suppressed the activation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) in the nucleus. These results demonstrated that Lycii fructus aqueous extract causes an anti-inflammatory effect that was likely produced by the suppression of iNOS expression through the down-regulation of NF-êB binding activity.
Molecular Thermodynamics of Solid Xenon

Vacancies-in-solid 모형을 설정하고 two-body central 퍼텐셜 함수 (Lennard-Jones-Devonshire potential function)를 사용하여 통계역학적으로 단원자 결정에 대한 고체분배함수를 유도하였다. 이 고체분배함수로부터 유도된 고체 상태방정식과 증기압 방정식을 사용하여 삼중점성질, 즉 삼중점온도, 증기압, 그리고 몰부피와 OK에서의 몰부피로부터 고체분배함수속에 있는 세 개의 파라미타를 결정하였다. 이 이론에 대한 타당성을 입증하기 위하여 몰열용량, 몰부피, 삼중점에서의 승화엔탈피와 엔트로피 그리고 OK에서의 승화엔탈피가 계산되었다. 이 결과 계산값은 실험 오차 범위내에서 실험값과 잘 일치함을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 사실은 빈 자리의 열적 형성이 크세논고체의 열역학적 성질에 상당히 영향을 미치고 있음을 보여 주고 있다. On the basis of vacancies-in-solid model(Schottky defect), a solid partition function for a monatomic crystal has been derived. Then a two-body central additive potential(LJD 12, 6 potential) has been used. All the three parameters Ue, De and Eo) in the solid partition function are uniquely determined from the observed triple point properties (T_t, P_t, and V_t) and the molar volume (Vo) of the crytals extrapolated to OK by using thermodynamic relations derived from the solid partition fuction. For the purpose of establishing the limits of its validity, thermodynamic properties such as isochoric heat capacity, molar volume, enthalpy and entropy of sublimation at triple point and OK are calculated, and the results are in a good accordance with existing observed data within experimental accuracy. It is found that the thermal formation of vacancies has a significant effect on all the thermodynamic functions of solid xenon at the higher temperatures.

Objective : Anti-inflammatory effects of the extract of Lycii Fructus on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation in RAW 264.7 macrophage cells were investigated. Method : In order to assess the cytotoxic effect of Lycii Fructus on the raw 264.7 macrophages 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay was performed. Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) analysis of the mRNA levels of tumor necrosis factor-$\alpha$(TNF-$\alpha$) and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) was performed in order to provide an estimate of the relative level of expression of these genes. The protein level of the inhibitor of nuclear factor-${\kappa}B(I{\kappa}B)$ and nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$(NF-${\kappa}B$) activity was investigated by Western blot assay. NO production was investigated by NO detection. Result : Lycii Fructus suppressed NO production by inhibiting the LPS-induced expressions of iNOS and TNF-$^-\alpha$ mRNA and iNOS protein in RAW 264.7 macrophage cells. Also, Lycii Fructus suppressed activation of NF-${\kappa}B$ in the nucleus. Conclusion : These results show that the extract of Lycii Fructus has anti-inflammatory effect probably by suppressing iNOS expressions through the down-regulation of NF-${\kappa}B$ binding activity.
The Vacancies-in-silid Medel Applied to Molar Heat Capacities of Solid Argon, Krypton and Xenon

Vacancies-in-solid 모형을 기초로 하고 균일한 퍼텐셜장속 two-body central MLJ 12,6 퍼텐셜함수를 사용하여 고체 아르곤, 크립톤 및 크세논의 몰열용량을 OK에서 삼중점까지 계산하였다. 이 이론의 타당성을 입증하기 위하여 계산값과 실험값을 비교분석하였다. Molar heat capacities of solid argon, krypton and xenon have been calculated up to the triple point, using the vacancies-in-solid model. The Mie-Lennard-Jones 12, 6 potential in the uniform potential field is used. The results are compared with the available derived values and the other theoretical values.

Vacancies-in-Solid 모형을 사용하여 고체 아르곤의 열팽창계수와 등온 압축률을 계산하였다. 이때 two-body central potential 함수가 사용되었다. 이 모형의 고체분배함수로부터 유도된 고체상태방정식과 증기압 방정식을 사용하여 삼중점성질 즉 삼중점온도, 증기압 및 몰부피와 OK에서의 몰부피로부터 세개의 파라미터를 결정하였다. 이들 결과를 다른 이론값이나 실험결과와 비교분석 하였다.

Vacancies-in-solid 모형을 이용하여 고체 크립톤과 크세논의 몰부피, 등압몰열용량, 등온압축률 및 열팽창 계수를 절대 영점에서 삼중점까지 계산하였다. 결정속에서 중심원자가 주위의 모든 원자와 상호작용을 나타내는 lattice sum을 고려한 二體中心, Mie-Lennard-Jones(12.9) 퍼텐셜 函數를 使用하였다. 또한 진동자의 진동수와 부피사이에는 Gru¨neisen law가 적용된다고 가정하였다. 퍼텐셜 파라미터와 Gru¨neisen law에서 정의된 Gru¨neisen constant는 고체상태방정식, 등온압축률 및 등압몰열용량식들을 반복법으로 풀므로써 결정되었다. 本 硏究의 理論値와 實驗値 및 다른 理論値와 比較하여 分析하여 본 結果는 實驗誤差 범위내에서 本 理論値는 다른 理論보다 實驗値와 잘 一致함으로 vacancies-in-solid 모형의 타당성을 立證할 수 있었다.
