        Early port-site metastasis during neoadjuvant chemotherapy in advanced stage ovarian cancer: report of two cases

        Port-site metastases in gynecological malignancies subsequent to laparoscopy have been reported with an incidence of 1.1-16%. These metastases tend to be disappearing after primary debulking surgery and subsequent primary chemotherapy. Local resection, chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy have been defined in the management of these metastases with enhanced clinical success. However, in extremely rare cases these metastases were also defined very early during neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Herein, we present two ovarian cancer cases which are clinically diagnosed with port site metastasis during neoadjuvant chemotherapy following diagnostic laparoscopy. Although neoadjuvant chemotherapy is sometimes needed in cases of fully advanced ovarian cancers, port-site metastasis may be encountered during neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The possible poor prognosis of these patients, especially those who have ascites, should make us careful in performing diagnostic laparoscopy with preventive measures for port-site metastasis and to start the chemotherapy immediately.

        Colored Image Encryption and Decryption with a New Algorithm and a Hyperchaotic Electrical Circuit

        In the present work, an encryption/decryption technique, using a new bit-level scrambling and a new difusion algorithm is presented. The proposed system uses a modifed Chua’s circuit (MCC) for the chaotic number generation for the frst time to our knowledge. In 2006, the MCC, which exhibited a hyper-chaotic behavior for a wide parameter regime due to its double frequency excitation feature was suggested by one of the authors of the present paper. However, it has not been used for secure communication issues. According to present technique, the generated data are transformed to the developed algorithm for the encryption and decryption purposes. Following the encryption procedure, the encrypted colored images are evaluated by a variety of tests including the analyses of secret key size, secret key sensitivity, histogram, correlation, diferential attack, information entropy, and noise attack. The results prove that the suggested colored image encryption/decryption technique is satisfactory for the secure communication issues in terms of efciency and speed.

        Multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis of insole pressure sensor data to diagnose vestibular system disorders

        The vestibular system (VS) is a sensory system that has a vital function in human life by serving to maintain balance. In thisstudy, multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis (MFDFA) is applied to insole pressure sensor data collected from subjectsin order to extract features to identify diseases related to VS dysfunction. We use the multifractal spectrum width as thefeature to distinguish between healthy and diseased people. It is observed that multifractal behavior is more dominant andthus the spectrum is wider for healthy subjects, where we explain the reason as the long-range correlations of the small andlarge fluctuations of the time series for this group. We directly process the instantaneous pressure values to extract featuresin contrast to studies in the literature where gait analysis is based on investigation of gait dynamics (stride time, stance time,etc.) requiring long walking time. Thus, as the main innovation of this work, we detrend the data to give meaningful informationeven for a relatively short walk. Extracted feature set was input to fundamental classification algorithms where theSupport-Vector-Machine (SVM) performed best with an average accuracy of 98.2% for the binary classification as healthy orsuffering. This study is a substantial part of a big project where we finally aim to identify the specific VS disease that causesbalance disorder and also determine the stage of the disease, if any. Within this scope, the achieved performance gives highmotivation to work more deeply on the issue.

        PURE-DIRECT-PROJECTIVE OBJECTS IN GROTHENDIECK CATEGORIES

        In this paper we study generalizations of the concept of puredirect- projectivity from module categories to Grothendieck categories. We examine for which categories or under what conditions pure-directprojective objects are direct-projective, quasi-projective, pure-projective, projective and flat. We investigate classes all of whose objects are puredirect- projective. We give applications of some of the results to comodule categories.

        APPLICATIONS OF JACK'S LEMMA FOR CERTAIN SUBCLASSES OF HOLOMORPHIC FUNCTIONS ON THE UNIT DISC

        In this paper, we give some results on ${\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}}$ for the certain classes of holomorphic functions in the unit disc $E=\{z:{\mid}z{\mid}<1\}$ and on ${\partial}E=\{z:{\mid}z{\mid}=1\}$. For the function $f(z)=z^2+c_3z^3+c_4z^4+{\cdots}$ defined in the unit disc E such that $f(z){\in}{\mathcal{A}}_{\alpha}$, we estimate a modulus of the angular derivative of ${\frac{zf^{\prime}(z)}{f(z)}}$ function at the boundary point b with ${\frac{bf^{\prime}(b)}{f(b)}}=1+{\alpha}$. Moreover, Schwarz lemma for class ${\mathcal{A}}_{\alpha}$ is given. The sharpness of these inequalities is also proved.

        Production and investigation of 3D printer ABS filaments filled with some rare-earth elements for gamma-ray shielding

        Radiation is the main safety issue for almost all nuclear applications, which must be controlled to protect living organisms and the surrounding materials. In this context, radiation shielding materials have been investigated and used in nuclear technologies. The choice of materials depends on the radiation usage area, type, and energy. Polymer materials are preferred in radiation shielding applications due to their superior characteristics such as chemical inertness, resistivity, low weight, flexibility, strength, and low cost. In the presented work, ABS polymer material, which is possibly the most commonly used material in 3D printers, is mixed with Gd2O3 and Er2O3 nanoparticles. ABS filaments containing these rare-earth elements are then produced using a filament extruder. These produced filaments are used in a 3D printer to create shielding samples. Following the production of shielding samples, SEM, EDS, and gamma-ray shielding analyses (including experiments, WinXCOM, GEANT4, and FLUKA) are performed. The results show that 3D printing technology offers significant enhancements in creating homogeneous and well-structured materials that can be effectively used in gamma-ray shielding applications.

        Investigation of the Relationship Between Cognitive Functions and Retinal Findings From Spectral Optical Coherence Tomography in Patients With Schizophrenia and Their Healthy Siblings

        Objective Retinal structural changes which were investigated by optical coherence tomography (OCT) have been reported in schizophrenia. Since cognitive dysfunction is a core feature of schizophrenia, the correlations between retinal findings and cognitive functions of patients and their healthy siblings may provide insight into the pathophysiological processes of the disorder. We aimed to investigate the relationship between neuropsychiatric tests and retinal changes in schizophrenia patients and their healthy siblings.Methods We measured OCT parameters and cognitive performance (via Trail Making Tests, verbal fluency tests, and The Digit Span Tests) of 72 participants (36 patients with schizophrenia and 36 healthy siblings) and disease severity (with Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale, Global Assessment of Functioning, and Clinical Global Impression scales) in patients with schizophrenia and evaluated the relationship between retinal findings and clinical parameters, especially neurocognitive tests.Results We found decreased ganglion cell layer-inner plexiform layer thickness and macular volume in the patient group. There were strong correlations between neurocognitive tests and OCT findings in both groups. On the other hand, there was not any correlation between retinal findings and disease parameters.Conclusion The cognitive symptoms of schizophrenia may be more closely related to structural changes in the retina.

        SAR 간섭기법을 활용한 하와이 킬라우에아 화산의 2018 분화 활동 관측

        Recent eruptive activity at Kīlauea Volcano started on at the end of April in 2018 showed rapid ground deflation between May and June in 2018. On summit area Halema`uma`u lava lake continued to drop at high speed and Kīlauea’s summit continued to deflate. GPS receivers and electronic tiltmeters detected the surface deformation greater than 2 meters. We explored the time-series surface deformation at Kīlauea Volcano, focusing on the early stage of eruptive activity, using multi-temporal COSMO-SkyMed SAR imagery. The observed maximum deformation in line-of-sight (LOS) direction was about -1.5 meter, and it indicates approximately -1.9 meter in subsiding direction by applying incidence angle. The results showed that summit began to deflate just after the event started and most of deformation occurred between early May and the end of June. Moreover, we confirmed that summit’s deflation rarely happened since July 2018, which means volcanic activity entered a stable stage. The best-fit magma source model based on time-series surface deformation demonstrated that magma chambers were lying at depths between 2-3 km, and it showed a deepening trend in time. Along with the change of source depth, the center of each magma model moved toward the southwest according to the time. These results have a potential risk of including bias coming from single track observation. Therefore, to complement the initial results, we need to generate precise magma source model based on threedimensional measurements in further research. 2018년 4월 말부터 감지되기 시작한 킬라우에아 화산의 최근 마그마 분화 활동은, 5월과 6월에 걸쳐 용암의 분출과 함께 급격한 지표 변형을 발생시켰다. 킬라우에아 정상부에 위치한 Halema`uma`u 분화구에서는 용암호의 수위가 빠르게 하강하여 대규모 지반 침하 및 지반 붕괴가 나타났으며, GPS와 경사계의 기록을 통해 약 2미터 가량의 변화를 감지할 수 있었다. 이 연구에서는 단 기간에 큰 변화를 보인 킬라우에아 분화 활동의 초기과정에 대해 다중 시기 COSMO-SkyMed SAR 영상을 이용한 시계열 지표변위 분석을 수행하고자 하였다. 전체 관측기간에 대해 측정된 최대의 지표 변위는 위성의 관측방향으로 약 -1.5미터이며, 입사각을 고려하여 수직변위로 변환할 때 약 -1.9미터의 침하를 나타낸다. 또한 대부분의 지표 변위는 분화 직후인 5월 초에서 6월말 사이에 발생하며, 7월부터는 안정기에 들어선 것을 확인할 수 있다. 시계열 지표변위를 통해 마그마 소스 모델링을 실시한 결과, 마그마 챔버가 지표로부터 2-3 km 사이에 위치하는 것으로 산출되었으며, 마그마 소스의 중심 위치는 남서부 방향으로 이동하는 것으로 관측되었다. 이러한 마그마 모델의 시계열 변화는 편향된 관측자료를 통한 초기 결과이므로 이후의 연구에서 정밀한 3차원 관측을 이용한 보완이 필요할 것으로 보여진다.

        Applications of the Schwarz Lemma and Jack’s Lemma for the Holomorphic Functions

        We consider a boundary version of the Schwarz Lemma on a certain class of functions which is denoted by N. For the function f(z) = z + a2z2 + a3z3 + ... which is defined in the unit disc D such that the function f(z) belongs to the class N, we estimate from below the modulus of the angular derivative of the function f''(z)/f(z) at the boundary point c with f'(c) = 0. The sharpness of these inequalities is also proved.
