        Design Robust Self-tuning FPIDF Controller for AVR System

        This paper presents the fuzzy PID filter (FPIDF) controller for the automatic voltage regulator (AVR). This controller is used to maintain the generating unit output voltage within allowable limit, and improve the weakness of the conventional controller’s fast response under any sudden changes in operating conditions or any disturbance that affect the voltage stability. Firstly, the PID low pass filter (PIDF) controller initial values are calculated by using teaching-learning based optimization (TLBO) algorithms. After that, we construct the FPIDF for self-tuning the PIDF parameters in real-time to make the controller fast response. The dynamic performance characteristic of the terminal voltage is investigated and analyzed when the system subjected to the different step change in reference voltage from low to high. The performance of FPIDF is compared with PIDF, fuzzy PID (FPID), and classical PID controller. Also, the FPIDF controller performance is compared with other metaheuristics algorithms based on the controller in the latest literature. Moreover, the strengths, robustness, and effectiveness of the FPIDF controller are checked under uncertainties of AVR parameters. The maximum total deviation of the system performance iscalculated in different ranges of the system parameter deviations. The results show a small maximum total deviation percentage when using the proposed controller. Finally, we can observe that the FPIDF controller has better dynamic performance than the other controllers, also has strong robustness and fast real-time response under any sudden changes in system operation.

        Delay-Dependent Guaranteed Cost Control for Uncertain Neutral Systems with Distributed Delays

        This paper considers the problem of delay-dependent guaranteed cost controller design for uncertain neutral systems with distributed delays. The system under consideration is subject to norm-bounded time-varying parametric uncertainty appearing in all the matrices of the state-space model. By constructing appropriate Lyapunov functionals and using matrix inequality techniques, a state feedback controller is designed such that the resulting closed-loop system is not only robustly stable but also guarantees an adequate level of performance for all admissible uncertainties. Furthermore, a convex optimization problem is introduced to minimize a specified cost bound. By matrix transformation techniques, the corresponding optimal guaranteed controller can be obtained by solving a linear matrix inequality. Finally, a simulation example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

        A reinforced suture method for stapled gastrointestinal anastomosis to reduce gastrointestinal hemorrhage during Whipple operation in laparoscopy

        Purpose: Laparoscopy is being increasingly accepted for pancreaticoduodenectomy. Stapled anastomosis (SA) is used extensively to facilitate laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD); however, the incidence of anastomotic bleeding after stapled gastrointestinal anastomosis is still high. Methods: One hundred and thirty-nine patients who underwent LPD using Whipple method were enrolled in our study. We performed the SA with our reinforced method (n = 68, R method) and without the method (n = 71, NR method). We compared the clinical characteristics and anastomosis methods of patients with or without gastrointestinal-anastomotic hemorrhage (GAH), and operative parameters were also compared between the anastomotic methods. Results: Of the 139 patients undergoing LPD, 15 of them developed GAH. The clinical characteristics of patients with or without GAH were not significantly different except in the anastomotic method (P < 0.001). In the univariate logistic regression analyses, only the anastomotic method was associated with GAH. Furthermore, patients with the NR method had significantly higher incidences of GAH (P < 0.001) and Clavien-Dindo grade ≥ III complications (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Our retrospective analysis showed that the SA performed with reinforced method might be a reform of SA without the reinforcement, as indicated by the lower incidence of GAH. However, further research is necessary to evaluate the utility of this reinforced method.

        Experimental study and analysis on physicochemical properties of coal treated with clean fracturing fluid for coal seam water injection

        In the process of coal seam water injection, the components of different fracturing fluids have differenteffects on coal. To analyze the effect of water injection fracturing fluid on the physical and chemical propertiesof coal, we studied the relationship between guar-based fracturing fluid and cationic clean fracturingfluid (C-VES). Microscopic experiments show that guar-based fracturing fluid has a certain viscosityeffect on coal, while C-VES can adsorb and capture the primary coal dust in coal. FTIR analysis shows thatC-VES has a great change on the content of coal functional groups, and guar-based fracturing fluid haslittle effect on coal. Industrial analysis shows that C-VES can better reduce the ash content of coal andhas a certain impact on the thermal efficiency of coal than guar based fracturing fluid. Combustion characteristicexperiment shows that guar-based fracturing fluid does not affect the combustion effect of coal,and C-VES can expand the exothermic temperature range of coal but has little effect on the main combustionof coal. Molecular dynamics simulation results show that C-VES has the best wetting effect oncoal. This research provides theoretical guidance for dust prevention and improving the use and conversionefficiency of coal.
