Cordycepin: pharmacological properties and their relevant mechanisms
Baoyan, Fan,Haibo, Zhu Cellmed Orthocellular Medicine and Pharmaceutical 2012 셀메드 (CellMed) Vol.2 No.2
Cordycepin, a nucleoside derivative, was extracted from $Cordyceps$ $sinensis$, and then proved to be a bioactive compound present in traditional Chinese medicine Cordyceps. Early investigations revealed cordycepin possessed anti-microbial activity mainly by inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis. Although cordycepin is not used as antibacterial agents in clinic, its other pharmacological effects and possible mechanisms have gradually been deeply studied. This review serves to summarize the research progress of cordycepin.
Optimization and experiment of an electrostatic forming membrane reflector in space
Baoyan Duan,Feng Gao,Jingli Du,Shuxin Zhang 대한기계학회 2015 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.29 No.4
An electrostatic forming membrane reflector with AstroMesh structural support is a new concept for space-borne deployable antennas. A membrane shape-control optimization model is proposed in this study for electrode design to achieve high reflector precision. In thismodel, the electrode number, channel number, and voltages are considered design variables, the membrane reflector precision is an objectivefunction, and the positivity and uniformity of membrane stress are constraints. A technology that combines a gradient method andgenetic algorithm is proposed to solve the optimization model. This technology includes continuous and discrete design variables withdifferent values and dimensions. The validity and effectiveness of the optimization model are demonstrated via the numerical example ofa 5 m membrane reflector and a 0.55 m experimental prototype.
A comparative study of the liberal arts tradition and Confucian tradition in education
Baoyan Cheng 서울대학교 교육연구소 2017 Asia Pacific Education Review Vol.18 No.4
In contrast to the continued decline and bleak future of liberal arts education and liberal arts colleges in Europe and America, there has been a revival of the liberal arts model in Asian countries in recent years. This paper compares the liberal arts tradition of education in the West and Confucian tradition of education in the East, in the aspects of educational goal, curriculum, and pedagogy, as well as the way both traditions are institutionalized. It makes connections between these humanistic approaches to demonstrate the common ground for the education of mankind: human beings need to develop meaning for life and to be able to relate to others in order to have a fulfilling life, and highlights the importance of such humanistic approaches as liberal arts education and the Confucian tradition in an increasingly utilitarian and vocation-oriented world.
THE SOLUTIONS OF BACKWARD DOUBLY STOCHASTIC DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS WITH NON-LIPSCHITZ COEFFICIENTS
Han, Baoyan,Zhu, Bo The Korean Society for Computational and Applied M 2011 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.29 No.5
In this paper, we shall establish a new theorem on the existence and uniqueness of the solution to a backward doubly stochastic differential equations under a weaker condition than the Lipschitz coefficient. We also show a comparison theorem for this kind of equations.

Herein, we report the results of our investigation on the effect of friction and anvil design on the heterogeneous plastic-deformation characteristics of copper during the compressive stage of high-pressure torsion (HPT), using the finite element method. The results indicate that the friction and anvil geometry play important roles in the homogeneity of the deformation. These variables affect the heterogeneous level of strain in the HPT compressed disks, as well as the flash in the disk edge region. The heterogeneous plastic deformation of the disks becomes more severe with the increasing depth of the cavity, as anvil angle and friction coefficient increase. However, the homogeneity increases with increases in the wall angle. The length of flash and the area of the dead metal zone increase with the depth of the cavity, while they decrease at a wall angle of 180°. (Received March 17, 2016; Accepted May 25, 2016)
Genetic transformation of wheat: current status and future prospects
Jiarui Li,Xingguo Ye,Baoyan An,Lipu Du,Huijun Xu 한국식물생명공학회 2012 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.6 No.3
Genetic transformation is a reverse genetics tool for validation of target genes and crop improvement. However, due to its low efficiency and genotype dependency, wheat is considered a recalcitrant plant for genetic transformation. During the last 20 years, various in vitro and in planta transformation methods have been reported in wheat. Until now, biolistic particle and Agrobacteriummediated wheat transformation methods using immature embryos as explants have been the two major transformation approaches. In addition to immature embryos, other explant types, such as mature embryos, anther-derived calli, inflorescences, apical meristems, and other floral organs, have been employed; however, they need further optimization. In addition to the common marker genes, such as bar, hpt and gus, other effective markers, ALS,AtMYB12 and pmi, have been successfully used for selection of positive transgenic plants. Numerous agronomic trait genes such as biotic stress resistance or tolerance genes have been transferred into wheat plants. Future prospects, such as recipient wheat cultivars and explants, marker free issues, and transgene silencing, are discussed. The objective of this review is to summarize current successful techniques for wheat transformation and stimulate further research into long-term wheat improvement by genetic engineering approaches.

Two genetic linkage maps based on doubled haploid (DH) and recombinant inbred lines (RILs) populations, derived from the same indica-japonica cross ‘Samgang x Nagdong’, were constructed to analyze the quantitative trait loci (QTLs) affecting agronomic traits in rice. The segregations of agronomic traits in RILs population showed larger variations than those in DH population. A total of 10 and 12 QTLs were identified on six chromosomes using DH population and seven chromosomes using RILs population, respectively. Three stable QTLs including pl9.1, ph1.1, and gwp11.1 were detected through different years. The percentages of phenotypic variation explained by individual QTLs ranged from 8 to 18% in the DH population and 9 to 33% in the RILs population. Twenty-three epistatic QTLs were identified in the DH population, while 21 epistatic QTLs were detected in the RILs population. Epistatic interactions played an important role in controlling the agronomic traits genetically. Four significant main-effect QTLs were involved in the digenic interactions. Significant interactions between QTLs and environments (QE) were identified in two populations. The QTLs affecting grain weight per panicle (GWP) were more sensitive to the environmental changes. The comparison and QTLs analysis between two populations across different years should help rice breeders to comprehend the genetic mechanisms of quantitative traits and improve breeding programs in marker-assisted selection (MAS).
