Failure load prediction of adhesively bonded GFRP composite joints using artificial neural networks
Bahadır Birecikli,Ömer Ali Karaman,Selahattin Bariş Çelebi,Aydın Turgut 대한기계학회 2020 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.34 No.11
There are different process parameters of bonding joints in the literature. The main objective of the paper was to investigate the effects of bonding angle, composite lay-up sequences and adherend thickness on failure load of adhesively bonded joints under tensile load. For this aim, the joint has four types of the bonding angles 30°, 45°, 60° and 75°. Composite materials have three different lay-up sequences and various thicknesses. The bonding angle, adherend thickness and composite lay-up sequences lead to an increase of the failure load. Moreover, artificial neural network that utilized Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm model was used to predict failure load of bonding joints. Mean square error was put into account to evaluate productivity of ANN estimation model. Experimental results have been consistent with the predicted results obtained with ANN for training, validation and testing data set at a rate of 0.998, 0.997 and 0.998 respectively.

Bahadır Mahmud Hudayi,Taekyun Lim,Bashir Kabir Ahmad,하창주 한국에너지학회 2023 에너지공학 Vol.32 No.4
Equilibrium cycle nuclear design involves optimal design of an initial and reload cycles within safety limits which requires repeated effort, engineering experience and judgment in a limited time. In this study, a nuclear design process is proposed to achieve an optimized LP (Loading Pattern) for equilibrium cycle of APR1400 with 1717 FAs loaded with WABA (Wet Annular Burnable Absorber). This design process includes optimizing fuel enrichment, the number of FAs (Fuel Assemblies) in each batch and loading pattern for a given energy requirement. First, an FMNG (Fuel Management Net Graph) curve is used to determine for both core average enrichment and CBC (Critical Boron Concentration) satisfying the energy requirement. Using the results, optimization of fuel batch specification such as numbers of FAs and WABAs is performed using Evolutionary Algorithm. Lastly, optimum loading pattern search is performed using a code called as COSUME (COnsecutive SUrvival MEthod) using SA (Simulated Annealing). COSUME, an automation program for LP search, has been developed in python programming language to facilitate this process and minimize the burden on the user. To validate the design process, three different cycle lengths (17.5, 19.5, and 23.5 GWD/t) of APR 1400 equilibrium cycle are investigated using different feed fuel numbers (92, 96, and 100 FAs). COSUME searches optimum LPs for initial, reload, and equilibrium cores. In each case, Maximum values always remained below the design limit of 1.55 and achieved target cycle lengths, 17.5 GWD/t, 19.5 GWD/t and 23.5 GWD/t, respectively.

A coprecipitation method was developed for the quantitative separation and preconcentration of Pb(II),Cr(III) and Cu(II) ions. Analytes were coprecipitated using a triazole derivative (2-{4-[2-(1H-indol-3-yl)ethyl]-3-(4-chlorobenzyl)-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl}-N-aryl methylidene acetohydrazid). The analytes were analyzed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The parameters suchas sample pH, amount of reagent, sample volume, matrix effects etc. were investigated. The enrichmentfactor for the analyzed metal ions was obtained as 50. The relative standard deviations (RSD) were in therange of 2.8–4.1%. The accuracy of the proposed procedure was checked by the analysis of the CRM-CSandySoil C. The method was successfully applied to real samples.

When the temperature of a structure varies, there is a tendency to produce changes in the shape of the structure. The resulting actions may be of considerable importance in the analysis of the structures having non-prismatic members. The computation of design forces for the non-prismatic beams having symmetrical parabolic haunches (NBSPH) is fairly difficult because of the parabolic change of the cross section. Due to their non-prismatic geometrical configuration, their assessment, particularly the computation of fixed-end horizontal forces and fixed-end moments becomes a complex problem. In this study, the efficiency of the Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference Systems (ANFIS) in predicting the design forces and the design moments of the NBSPH due to temperature changes was investigated. Previously obtained finite element analyses results in the literature were used to train and test the ANN and ANFIS models. The performances of the different models were evaluated by comparing the corresponding values of mean squared errors (MSE) and decisive coefficients (R2). In addition to this, the comparison of ANN and ANFIS with traditional methods was made by setting up Linear-regression (LR) model.

Hatice Hosgor,Berkay Tokuc,Bahadır Kan,Fatih Mehmet Coskunses 대한구강악안면외과학회 2019 대한구강악안면외과학회지 Vol.45 No.6
Objectives: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of odontogenic cysts, tumors, and other lesions among reports in the archives of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Faculty of Dentistry affiliated with Kocaeli University collected over a four-year period. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, patient records from the archive of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 2014 to 2018 were reviewed. Patient demographic information (age and sex) and lesion location were recorded and analyzed. Results: From a total of 475 files reviewed, odontogenic cyst was confirmed in 340 cases (71.6%), and odontogenic tumor was confirmed in 52 cases (10.9%). Regarding odontogenic cyst type, the most common was radicular cyst (216 cases), followed by dentigerous cyst (77 cases) and odontogenic keratocyst (23 cases). Among odontogenic tumors, the most frequent was odontoma (19 cases), followed by ossifying fibroma (18 cases) and ameloblastoma (9 cases). Giant cell granuloma was also reported in 35 cases. Conclusion: The distribution pattern of odontogenic cysts and tumors in our retrospective study is relatively similar to that reported in the literature. Complete clinical reports for final diagnosis of these lesions and routine follow-up examinations are very important for treatment.

Objective We compared retrospectively the seizure variables of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) patients after administration of rocuronium-sugammadex or succinylcholine as a muscle relaxant with propofol anesthesia. Methods The sample comprised 134 ECT patients. The mean age was 33.6±10.48 years. Anesthesia induction was provided with propofol one mg kg-intravenously (IV) followed by succinylcholine 0.5 mg kg-1 IV (n=68) (Group S) or rocuronium 0.3 mg kg-1 IV (n=66) (Group R). For patients who were given rocuronium, reversal of the residual neuromuscular block was accomplished with sugammadex (1.5 mg kg-1 IV). First session seizure variables were compared between the two groups. We also presented the clinical outcome with Clinical Global Impression-Improvement (CGI-I) and overall adverse effects. Results EEG seizure durations in Group R (55.09±36.11 s) and Group S (47.00±26.33 s) were comparable and were not significantly different (p=0.432). The clinical efficacy of ECT measured by CGI-I in both groups was comparable (p=0.075). There were no major complications or death during or after ECT.Conclusion The results of this study show that the use of rocuronium-sugammadex as a neuromuscular blocker instead of succinylcholine during ECT with propofol anesthesia produces similar results in terms of seizure variables and clinical outcomes.
