        In order to characterize pharmacokinetic profiles according to route of a new enrofloxacin salt form (Enrotil®), it was given to 4 healthy pigs via oral (p.o.), intramuscular (i.m.) or intravenous (i.v.) administrations at a dose rate of 5 ㎎/㎏ body weight. Enrofloxacin (ENFX) in serum was detected by bioassay using E. coli BE1186 as a test organism. The biological elimination half-lives (t_(1/2)(β)) of ENFX were 6.76±0.99 h (i.v.), 7.16±2.30 h (i.m.) and 11.45±3.90 h (p.o.), Volume of distribution (Vd) of enrofloxacin was 2.20±0.31 L/㎏ (i.v.), 2.52±0.60 L/㎏ (i.m.) and 1.88±0.33 L/㎏ (i.m.). Mean residence time (MRT) was 8.77±1.26 h after i.v. injection and the maximal concentration time (Tmax) following p.o. and i.m. administration was 0.76±0.09 h and 0.60±0.12 h, indicating a rapid absorption from these routes. Bioavailibility (F) was calculated as 64.1% for p.o. administration and 59.71% for i.m. injections. In summary, the newly formulated enrofloxacin salt form has shown a high water solubility, rapid absorption and large tissue distribution, suggesting a potential antibacterials for oral application on a large scale in veterinary sectors.

      • Cryptosporidium baileyi감염 병아리에 있어서 Fabricius-낭의 조직병리학적 변화

        Two-day old male chickens(DEKALB-Warren, Sex-Sal-Link) were inoculated orally with 2×10^6 oocysts of Cryptosporidium bailyei. Age-matched birds served as controls. A small number of oocysts were first recognized in the feces of chicks on day 3 post inoculation(PI). The OPD for the chickens increased with the lapse of days, reached a peak on day 9 PI, decreased rapidly thereafter, and became negative on days 33 PI. The protozoa had a prepatent period of 2 day and patent period of 3-32 days. On day 10 PI, infections were very heavy, in fact, there was a vitural monolayer of parasites in the microvillus region of the bursa of Fabricius(BF). Histopathological lesions in BF were characterized by severe eosinophilic infiltrates under the epithelium, loss of FAE and epithelium. The eosinophilic infiltrantes were detected in the follicles on day 15 PI. On days 27 PI, follicles were degenerated and necrosised. Mast cells were recognized in the epithelium on day 10 PI, reached a peak on day 43 PI and then rapidly decreased. Location of mast cell was matched with the region of parasited epithelium. Although the cryprosporidia was not detected in the epithelium of BF on day 59 PI, the mucosal change persisted accompanied by hyperplasia and metaplasia. The follicles were normally recovered or partially necrosised on day 59 PI.

        The relative frequency and distribution of somatoatatin immunoreactive cells were investigated by the immunohistochemical method in the gastrointestinal tract of the Korean native cattle and goat. The results obtained were as follows: In the Korean native cattle, somatoststin cells were a few in the pyloric and duodenal region and rarely seen in fundic region, jejunum, ileum, cecum, proximal colon, central coil, distal colon and rectum. In the Korean native goat, somatostatin cells were the most numerous in the pyloric region and the next in the fundic region. And they were a few in the duodenum, not detected in the cecum and sparse in the jejunum, ileum, proximal colon, central coil, distal colon and rectum.

      • 연쇄상구균을 실험감염시킨 넙치치어의 병리조직학적 관찰

        Pathological observations were examined after abdominal inoculation in 7∼8㎝ sized flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) with 1X10^7 cfu/㎖ of Streptococcus faecalis. The infected flounder were clinically observed and weighed a fish body at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 days post inoculation. In infected group, mortality were 70% and feed efficiency were 7.2%. In non-infected group, mortality were 10% and feed efficiency were 18.2%. Macroscopically, the significant lesions were characterized by protrusions and opacity of the eyes and ulcer of the caudal pecuncle. Histopathologically, the lesions were observed a degeneration. necrosis and inflammatory cells in muscle of the caudal peduncle and a degeneration and necrosis of the rod cells and detached retina from the black pigmented layer

      • 마우스에서 오존수의 급여가 쥐와포자충 감염에 미치는 영향

        Ozone is very effective in acute and chronic viral disease as a virucidal agent in reversing positive antibody tests and in improving the general health of the animals. The effects of ozonized water supply against Cryptosporidium muris was studied in 5-weeks-old mice. After oral inoculation of mice with 1×10^6 oocysts, ozonized water(0.5ppm) and tap water were supplied to experimental and control group, respectively. The prepatent period of both group was 8 days postinoculation(PI). The patent period of experimental group was longer(62days) than that of experimental group(57days). The number of oocysts in the feces were maxium on days 28 PI, indicating 3.54×10^6 oocysts/experimental mouse and 5.56×10^6 oocysts/ control mouse. The number of discharge oocysts during 12-33 PI was more in control group than that of experimental group. In the view of gastric gland section on days 28 PI, the number of endogenous development of C muris was smaller in experimental group than in control group. This results indicates that the autoinfected sporozoite were damaged by ozone.

      • 닭에서 오존수의 급여가 닭와포자충 감염에 미치는 영향

        Ozone is very effective in acute and chronic viral disease as a virucidal agent and in improving the general health of the animals. The effects of ozonized water supply against Cryptosporidium baileyi was studied in 2-day-old chicken. After oral inoculation of chicken with 1×10^6 oocysts, ozonized water(0.5ppm) and tap water were supplied to experimental and control group, respectively. The prepatent period of both group was 6 days postinoculation(PI). The patent period of experimental group was shorter(6-18 days) than that of control group(6-22 days). The number of oocysts in the feces were maximum on days 11 PI, indicating 1.99×10^6 oocysts/experimental chicken and 6.00×10^6 oocysts/control chicken. The number of discharged oocysts during experimental period was higher in control group than that of experimental group. In the view of febric bursa sections on 7 days PI, the number of endogenous development of C baileyi was smaller in experimental group that in control group. This results indicate that the autoinfected sporozoite were damaged by ozone. The ozonized water supply to chickens is alleviation cryptosporidiosis.

      • 돼지생식기호흡기 증후군(PRRS) 바이러스 감염시킨 돼지 기관의 병리학적 관찰

        The porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus was inoculated into swine tracheal organ culture. The ballooning degeneration of the tracheal ciliated epithelium and a decrease of ciliary activity from the tracheal organs infected with PRRS virus were observed one day post-infection(PI). Tracheal epithelium showed degeneration and focal necrosis 2 days PI. Epithelial necrosis and loss of cilia and epithelial cells became more severe 3 and 4 days PI. An entire loss of cilia and epithelial cells were recognized 4 days PI, however, control tracheal organs were normal during the period of the experiment except a little decrease of ciliary activities with time..

      • 직업성 CS₂중독의 집단검진을 위한 기준 설정에 관한 연구

        Although peripheral polyneuropathy and retinal hemorrhage or microaneurism are early findings of carbon disulfide poisoning, the electroneuromyography for detecting neuropathy is very delicate and time consuming while the retinal microangiopathy is not frequent. And it is very hard to find the carbon disulfide poisoning at early stage by using current laboratory examinations such as liver function, renal function, serum cholesterol, blood pressure and electrocardiogram, which showed low positive predictive values for the peripheral neuropathy. Therefore those tests seer to be of little use for the early diagnosis of carbon disulfied poisoning. This study was conducted to find out the screening method of occupational carbon disulfide poisoning. For the purpose, a total of 108 spinners were selected randomly as subjects of the study from a viscose rayon industry in which more than 200 spinners were working The concentration of carbon disulfide in air of work-place, age and career of workers, hematologic exmination, blood chemistries, funduscopic examination, electrocardiography and neurologic examination including electroneuromyography were performed to evaluate the carbon disulfide poisoning. The result suggests that funduscopy for retinal microangiopathy audiometry and for hearing loss that show relatively high positive predictive values to carbon disulfide posoning be used to detect abnormal cases. In addition, it is desirable that workers who worked more than 10years would be examined by electroneuromyography for finding peripheral polyneuropathy and carbon disulfide poisoning.

        Pilomatricoma was histopathologically diagnosed in a 2.5-year-old male Alaskan malamute. The patient was referred to Chungnam National University, Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital with solitary, firm and well-circumscribed mass at shoulder. Grossly, the mass was dome shaped to tumor like and 10 x 8 x 5㎝ in size. Some lesions had gritty or bony consistency and was chalky when sectioned Histopathologic feature included mumerous clusters of tightly arranged, basaloid cells with evenly distributed chromatin and ghost cells were characterized by a central unstained zone. The ghost cells often become calcified and osseous metaplasia was also present.

      • 절수에 의한 mongolian gerbil의 체중 변화에 관한 연구

        Recently, the mongolian gerbils have been used in neurology and the study of water metabolism because of their easy onset of epileptic seizure and typical resistance to water deprivation. The sebaceous glands which are under the control of the gonadal hrmones are differently developed from the other laboratory animals. However the physiological data on the changes of body weight following water deprivation in mongolian gerbils is not available until now. In order to investigate the effect of the water deprivation on the body weight, the animals were deprived of water for 15 days. The body weights were measured daily by the torsion balance. The mean, the standard deviation, the standard error and the coefficient of variance of the body weights were calculated. The correlation was examined. The potential regression equation was y = 61.5458 - 2.0533 * x + 0.0487 * x^2. The regression coefficient was 0.993. The results obtained were as follows : 1. The body weights of the mongolian gerbils were continuously decrased from the 1st day to the 15th day after the water deprivation. 2. The mean body weight on the water deprivation was 63.0±7.00g and that at the 15th day was 41.4 ± 5.42g. 3. The coefficients of the variance showed the highest (13.09) at the 15th day and the lowest (10.10) at the 10th day. the coefficients of the variance kept decreasing until the 10th day and thereafter gradually increased until the 15th day. 4. The changing rate of the body weight kept continuously decreasing from the 1st day to the 15th day showing the daily loss of 1.0 - 3.3%. 5.The deviations (M - QBW) between the measured values (m) and the theorical values (QBW) using the regression equation showed the highest (1.494) at the 1st day and the lowest (0.053) at the 13th day. 6. The sum of the devitions was 0.179 and that of the deviation square was 1.15. The sum of the deviation rates between the mesaured body weights and the theorical ones was 0.484. 7. The daily body weight loss showed the highest at the 1st day by 2.053g and the lowest at the 15th day by 0.591g. 8. The specific body weight changing rates which were the rate of the body weight changing velocity to the changed body weight were decreased from 0.033% at the 1st day to 0.014% at the 15th day.
