        • Determination of antibiotics by SPE-LC-MS/MS in wastewater and risk assessment

          Aydin,,Senar,Aydin,,Mehmet,E.,Ulvi,,Arzu,Kilic,,Havva Techno-Press 2018 Advances in environmental research Vol.7 No.3

In this study, conditions of solid phase extraction (SPE) for determination of some antibiotics such as trimethoprim, oxytetracycline, erythromycin, clarithromycin, azythromycin, doxycycline, sulfamethazine, ciprofloxacin, chlortetracycline, sulfamethoxazole in wastewaters were optimized. After the optimum volume and pH of the sample were determined, the effect of the concentration of the compounds and matrix were investigated. The highest recovery rates for antibiotic compounds were determined between 82% and 105% in 200 mL sample volume and pH 2.5. Then, antibiotic compounds were investigated in influent and effluent samples taken from Konya Urban Wastewater Treatment Plant. The concentration of the antibiotics was detected range of 0.11-101 ng/L in influent waters and <dl-288 ng/L in effluent samples in wastewater treatment plant. Hazard quotients (HQs) of antibiotic compounds determined in WWTP effluents to evaluate the risk towards different aquatic organisms (algae, Daphnia magna and fish) were determined. Azythromycin for fish and erythromycin, sulfamethoxazole, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin for algae posed a moderate risk while azythromycin, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, oxytetracycline posed a high risk for algae in the receiving environment.

        • Ghrelin is Present in Teeth

Aydin,,Suleyman,Ozercan,,I,brahim,Hanefi,Geckil,,Hikmet,Dagli,,Ferda,Aydin,,Suna,Kumru,,Sinem,Kilic,,Nermin,Sahin,,I,brahim,Ozercan,,Mehmet,Resat Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2007 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.40 No.3

Ghrelin belongs to the family of a gut-brain hormone that promotes food intake and controls energy balance. Recently, it has also been shown to regulate bone formation directly. Dental tissue shares several functional, developmental and anatomical similarities with bone, and in the present study we have investigated the presence of ghrelin in 44 human teeth using immunocytochemistry and radioimmunoassay. Both methods showed that the hormone is present in canines and molars, mainly in the odontoblasts but also in the pulp. Ghrelin could potentially play interesting physiological roles in teeth.

ON SOME PROPERTIES OF THE SPACES

Aydin,Gürkanli 장전수학회 2009 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.12 No.2

For 1 ≤ p < ∞, Ap (Rn) denotes the space of all complex-valued functions in L¹ (Rn) whose Fourier transforms [수식] belong to Lp(Rn). A number of authors such as Larsen, Liu and Wang [12], Martin and Yap [14], Lai [11] worked on this space. Some generalizations to the weighted case was given by Gurkanli [7], Feichtinger and Gurkanli [4], Fischer, Gurkanli and Liu [5]. In the present paper we give another generalization of Ap (Rn) to the generalized Lebesgue space Lp(x)(Rn): We de…ne A[수식](x) (Rn) to be the space of all complex-valued functions in L[수식] (Rn) whose Fourier transforms [수식] belong to the generalized Lebesgue space Lp(x)(Rn). We endow it with a sum norm and show that A[수식](x) (Rn) is an Sw(Rn) space [2]. Further we discuss the multipliers of A[수식](x) (Rn). Background: End stage renal failure is an increasing clinical problem. That is why we should prevent it and capture patients in earlier stages in order to stop their progression. We should determine the causes of hospitalization and acute complications. Methods: The patients who were hospitalized for End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) between March 2009-2011 patients were studied. We studied the causes of hospitalization in concern with established parameters. The datas were analyzed in SPSS program. Results: The total number of patients were 98 including 50 men and 48 women. The ages of patients were between 27-93. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) duration was 2-240 months, the dialysis duration was 0.5-240 months. The most common cause of emergency department admission was infection 39 (%39.8). The Patients admitted with an infection were taken dialysis treatment longer than other patients (p=0.034) and they had a higher initial hemoglobin level (p=0.002) and were hospitalized longer than the other patients (p=0.047). The most common type of infection was pneumonia (%43.6). The most common cause of mortality was sepsis with %40 and pneumonia with %20. There was no statistically difference in terms of albumin level between patients with infection and the others. Although in the exitus group albumin was statically lower than the survivors (p<0.05). Conclusions: The most common cause of ESRD was infection. The most common cause of mortality was also infection; sepsis and pneumonia. We determined that a low albumin level was a bad prognostic factor.

UWB Rectangular Microstrip Patch Antenna Design in Matching Liquid and Evaluating the Classification Accuracy in Data Mining Using Random Forest Algorithm for Breast Cancer Detection with Microwave

          Emine,Avşar,Aydin,Emine,Avşar,Aydin 대한전기학회 2019 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.14 No.5

The most common type of cancer for a female is breast cancer in the world. Regular checks and effective-timely treatment are noteworthy parameters for patients' survival struggle . Against existing imaging methods, microwave imaging method has been considered more powerful and effective method by many researchers. In this paper, comprehensive design equations and parameters of rectangular microstrip patch antenna (RMPA) are given for microwave breast cancer detection. The layered breast model with a spherical tumor that was placed into the fibro-glandular layer was created by using CST Microwave Studio Software, and it was embedded in canola oil to decrease the distorted signals between the transmitting and receiving antennas. The RMPA has a wideband performance from 3 to 18 GHz. The simulation results show that differences in the electric field and reflection coefficients might more efficiently give a possibility to assign the tumor in the breast model. In addition, in this study, the data obtained from these experiments are classified by using the random forest algorithm from the data mining methods. According to the classification result, the random forest algorithm can diagnose breast cancer by classifying the tumor as 94% accuracy.

Antihypertensive Role of Glossopharyngeal Nerve Stimulation by Nifedipine Using as Calcium Channel Blocking Agent in Hypertension: An Experimental Study

          Mehmet,Dumlu,Aydin,Ednan,Bayram,Zekai,Halici,Nazan,Aydin,Canan,Atalay,Hlzlr,Ulvi,Dilcan,Kotan,Cemal,Gundogdu 대한약학회 2009 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.32 No.11

Nifedipine is a therapeutic drug in acute attacks of hypertension because of its rapid absorption from oral mucosa. Taste receptors are innervated by glossopharyngeal nerves (GPN) as well as by facial and vagal nerves. Sensory neurons of the GPNs are localised in the petrous ganglion (PG). Transection of the taste sensitive GPN fibres causes taste bud and PG degeneration and spontaneous hypertension. In this study, the role of chemical stimulation of the taste buds of the GPN by nifedipine and its role in treatment of hypertension were investigated in rabbits. Nifedipine was dropped sublingually (20 mg) for 4 days in the study group, followed by measuring blood pressures again. Then, the lingual branches of GPNs were cut. One month later, blood pressures were measured for 4 days. All animals were sacrificed humanely at the end of the experiment, and normal and degenerated neuron densities in the petrosal ganglions were enumerated stereologically. The antihypertensive effect of nifedipine decreased after GPNs denervation, in accordance with the increase of degenerated neurons in the PG. The chemical stimulation of taste buds of the GPNs by nifedipine may be an important effect of nifedipine application in addition to its calcium channel blocking effect. The rapid decrease in blood pressure following sublingual use of nifedipine may also result from the direct stimulation of taste buds innervated by the GPNs. • Clinical Outcomes and Prognostic Factors Associated with the Response to Erlotinib in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer Patients with Unknown EGFR Mutational Status

Aydiner,,Adnan,Yildiz,,Ibrahim,Seyidova,,Avesta Asian Pacific Organization for Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.5

Background: The efficacy of erlotinib is controversial in patients with unknown EGFR mutational status. The aim of this study was to identify the clinicopathological factors that are predictive of erlotinob treatment outcomes for NSCLC patients with unknown EGFR mutational status. Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis of 109 patients with advanced NSCLC who had previously failed at least one line of chemotherapy and received subsequent treatment with erlotinib (150 mg/day orally) was performed. A Cox proportional hazard model for univariate and multivariate analyses was used to identify the baseline clinical parameters correlating with treatment outcome, expressed in terms of hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals. Results: The median treatment duration was 15 weeks (range, 4-184). The disease control rate was 55%, including disease stability for ${\geq}3$ months for 40% of the patients. Median progression-free survival and median overall survival (OS) were 4.2 and 8.5 months, respectively. The Cox model indicated that an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status (ECOG PS) ${\geq}2$ (HR 3.82; p<0.001), presence of intra-abdominal metastasis (HR 3.42; p=0.002), 2 or more prior chemotherapy regimens (HR 2.29; p=0.021), and weight loss >5% (HR 2.05; p=0.034) were independent adverse prognostic factors for OS in NSCLC patients treated with erlotinib. Conclusions: This study suggests that NSCLC patients should be enrolled in erlotinib treatment after a first round of unsuccessful chemotherapy to improve treatment success, during which they should be monitored for intra-abdominal metastasis and weight loss.

Calculation of Thermal Conductivity and Heat Capacity from Physical Data for Some Representative Soils of Korea

Aydin,,Mehmet,Jung,,Yeong-Sang,Lee,,Hyun-Il,Kim,,Kyung-Dae,Yang,,Jae-E. Korean Society of Soil Science and Fertilizer 2012 한국토양비료학회지 Vol.45 No.1

The thermal properties including volumetric heat capacity, thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, and diurnal and annual damping depths of 10 representative soil series of Korea were calculated using some measurable soil parameters based on the Taxonomical Classification of Korean Soils. The heat capacity of soils demonstrated a linear function of water content and ranged from 0.2 to $0.8cal\;cm^{-3}^{\circ}C^{-1}$ for dry and saturated medium-textured soil, respectively. A small increase in water content of the dry soils caused a sharp increase in thermal conductivity. Upon further increases in water content, the conductivity increased ever more gradually and reached to a maximum value at saturation. The transition from low to high thermal conductivity occurred at low water content in the soils with coarse texture, and at high water content in the other textures. Thermal conductivity ranged between $0.37{\times}10^{-3}cal\;cm^{-1}s^{-1}^{\circ}C^{-1}$ for dry (medium-textured) soil and $4.01{\times}10^{-3}cal\;cm^{-1}s^{-1}^{\circ}C^{-1}$ for saturated (medium/coarse-textured) soil. The thermal diffusivity initially increased rapidly with small increases in water content of the soils, and then decreased upon further increases in the soil-water content. Even in an extreme soil with the highest diffusivity value ($1.1{\times}10^{-2}cm^2s^{-1}$), the daily temperature variation did not penetrate below 70 cm soil depth and the yearly variation not below 13.4 m as four times of damping depths.

ON A LIE RING OF GENERALIZED INNER DERIVATIONS

          Aydin,,Neset,Turkmen,,Selin Korean Mathematical Society 2017 대한수학회논문집 Vol.32 No.4

In this paper, we define a set including of all $f_a$ with $a{\in}R$ generalized derivations of R and is denoted by $f_R$. It is proved that (i) the mapping $g:L(R){\rightarrow}f_R$ given by g (a) = f-a for all $a{\in}R$ is a Lie epimorphism with kernel $N_{{\sigma},{\tau}}$ ; (ii) if R is a semiprime ring and ${\sigma}$ is an epimorphism of R, the mapping $h:f_R{\rightarrow}I(R)$ given by $h(f_a)=i_{{\sigma}(-a)}$ is a Lie epimorphism with kernel $l(f_R)$ ; (iii) if $f_R$ is a prime Lie ring and A, B are Lie ideals of R, then $[f_A,f_B]=(0)$ implies that either $f_A=(0)$ or $f_B=(0)$.

        • A Comparison of Ghrelin, Glucose, Alpha-amylase and Protein Levels in Saliva from Diabetics

Aydin,,Suleyman Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biol 2007 Journal of biochemistry and molecular biology Vol.40 No.1

During the past decade, many salivary parameters have been used to characterize disease states. Ghrelin (GAH) is recently-discovered peptide hormone secreted mainly from the stomach but also produced in a number of other tissues including salivary glands. The aim of this work was to examine the relationship between active (aGAH) and inactive (dGAH) ghrelin in the saliva and other salivary parameters in type II diabetic patients and healthy controls. Salivary parameters were assessed in a single measurement of unstimulated whole saliva from 20 obese and 20 non-obese type II diabetes patients, and in 22 healthy controls. Total protein and alpha-amylase were determined by colorimetric methods, and glucose by the glucose-oxidase method. Saliva aGAH and dGAH levels were measured using a commercial radioimmunoassay (RIA) kit. Salivary concentrations of aGAH and dGAH ghrelin were more markedly decreased in obese diabetic subjects than in the two other groups. Glucose and alpha-amylase levels were higher in diabetic subjects than in controls. Furthermore, there were correlations between GAH levels and BMI, and between GAH and blood pressure. However, there was no marked variability in saliva flow rates among the groups. These results indicate that measurement of salivary GAH and its relationship to other salivary parameters might help to provide insight into the role of ghrelin in diabetes.
