Gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-decorated boron nitride nanosheet (BNNS) was successfully prepared through the simultaneous reduction of Au3+ ions and the growth of AuNPs on polydopamine (PDA)-grafted BNNS. BNNS-AuNP showed remarkable dispersion stability in aqueous media and revealed high catalytic efficiency for the reduction of nitrophenol as (4-NP) into 4-aminophenol (4-AP) within 8 min in water. 2D structural feature of BNNS-AuNP also enables isolation and recycling of catalyst from 4-AP through the ultracentrifugation, which shows the retention of more than 60% of catalytic activity of BNNS-AuNP after 5 times of recycling steps.
Fabrication of boron nitride nanosheets with silver nanoparticles via mussel-inspired chemistry
( Arup Kumer Roy ),김석준,인인식 한국공업화학회 2015 한국공업화학회 연구논문 초록집 Vol.2015 No.1
Boron nitride nanosheet (BNNS) decorated with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was successfully synthesized via mussel-inspired chemistry of dopamine. AgNPs were decorated on PDA-BNNS through spontaneous reduction of silver cations by catechol moieties of PDA layer on BNNS, resulting in AgNP-BNNS with good dispersion stability. Incorporation of PDA on BNNS not only played a role as a surface functionalization method of BNNS but also provided a molecular platform for building-up much sophisticated two dimensional BNNS-based hybrid nanomaterials such as metal nanoparticle-decorated BNNS.
Study of two dimensional visco-elastic problems in generalized thermoelastic medium with heat source
Arup Baksi,Bidyut Kumar Roy,Rasajit Kumar Bera 국제구조공학회 2008 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.29 No.6
In this paper, a thermo-viscoelastic problem in an infinite isotropic medium in two dimensions in the presence of a point heat source is considered. The fundamental equations of the problems of generalized thermoelasticity including heat sources in a thermo-viscoelastic media have been derived in the form of a vector matrix differential equation in the Laplace-Fourier transform domain for a two dimensional problem. These equations have been solved by the eigenvalue approach. The results have been compared to those available in the existing literature. The graphs have been drawn for different cases.
Sound Change in Deori: A Descriptive Account
Arup Kumar Nath 세종대학교 언어연구소 2012 Journal of Universal Language Vol.13 No.2
This paper deals with the sound changes that have undergone in Deori language from the time of publication of Grierson’s Linguistic Survey of India, i.e., 1903 to the present time. (That is till the time of collecting data: January 2008 - January 2009.)During this span of hundred and five years, a considerable amount of phonetic and morphological changes have taken place. Deori has shown ample evidences of sound changes in the patterns of complete lexical shift, epenthesis, devoicing, de-aspiration,vowel shift, nasalization, elision, deletion, morpheme addition, degemination, borrowing, and so on. Most remarkably the loan and borrowing words are fast replacing the basic vocabularies of this language.
Assessment of a fire damaged reinforced concrete building

A proper condition assessment of reinforced concrete structure after a fire event involves field and laboratory work to determine the extent of fire in order to design an appropriate and cost effective repair scheme. The present paper presents a case study where an attempt has been made to carry out a condition assessment of a fire damaged building in a systematic manner. The approach adopted broadly consisted of questioning of on-site personnel, a detailed visual survey, on-site non-destructive / partially-destructive tests, collection of in-situ samples from site along with some laboratory based investigations on samples collected from site. Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) Analysis and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Imaging were conducted for microstructural characterization and analysis of concrete to correlate, corroborate and validate the results obtained through on-site assessment. Since the building was an old structure, carbonation depth in structural members was also evaluated. Finally, based on the visual inspections indicating the condition of surface and structural elements such as spalling, exposure and condition of reinforcement, cracks, honeycombing etc. along with NonDestructive Test / Laboratory test results, the repair methodology of structural members are presented.

Nanocomposites from poly(vinyl alcohol) [PVA] in linear and crosslinked state were synthesized usingvarying proportions of bagasse extracted nanocellulose. These were characterized by tensile, thermal, Xraydiffraction (XRD), moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR), and morphological studies. CrosslinkedPVA and linear PVA nanocomposite exhibited highest tensile strength at 5 wt.% and 7.5 wt.% ofnanocellulose respectively. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) studies showed higher thermal stabilityof nanocomposite made of crosslinked PVA and nanocellulose with respect to linear PVA andnanocellulose. TEM and AFM studies confirm the formation of nanocomposites while the SEM imagesshow the dispersion of nanocellulose particles in them.
