Employment rate of married women has increased in Korea, but working housewives still have the main responsibility for the household chores in double income families. Due to the busy life, dietary habit of working housewives might be poorer than full-time housewives. The purpose of this study was to compare dietary habits and food frequency between full-time housewives and working housewives. The subjects were 119 full-time housewives and 164 working housewives living in chungbuk. Age, education level and monthly income were significantly different between the two groups, but health-related habits such as smoking, drinking, and exercise did not differ. While full-time housewives had higher tendency to have breakfast and dinner everyday than working housewives, they had lower tendency to have lunch everyday than working housewives. The highest response rate for preparation time for dinner was 40~60 min in full-time housewives and 20~40 min in working housewives. Most of food frequency consumed by full-time housewives was higher than by working housewives, especially bean and bean curd, kimchi, salty cracker, and candyㆍchocolate. Education should be provided to recommend to have regular meals without skipping and to show the fast ways to prepare meals with various foods.
Wild Cities: The Renegade Roots of Urban Taiwan
Ari-Joonas Pitkänen 고려대학교 민족문화연구원 2019 Cross-Currents Vol.0 No.33
The latter half of the twentieth century was a transformative period in the socioeconomic development of East Asia. Trailing the success of Japan, the “Four Asian Tigers”—Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan—pushed the region toward modernity with their strong economic growth fueled by industrialization and trade. A key consequence of this growth was rapid urbanization, which produced inevitable growing pains in the swiftly expanding cities. In the case of Taiwan, this organic expansion further collided with a concurrent influx of immigrants from mainland China and the marked passivity of a government whose gaze was fixed on that mainland. Combined with Taiwan’s complex history under various competing influences in the region, these developments heralded an era marked by social tension that seeped into the physical form of the emerging cityscapes.

Ari Widyanti,Irna Octaviana,Putra Yamin 대한산업공학회 2018 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.17 No.1
Safety in oil and gas companies is a critical issue. Common approaches such as engineering approach and written system have been applied in order to minimize accident in this kind of industry. However, accidents still happen, attracting different approach to minimize accident. This study is intended to analyze different approaches in safety – that is safety climate and safety behavior – in relation with accident in an Indonesian oil and gas company. Thirty three workers of an oil and gas company participate voluntarily in this study by filling out safety climate questionnaire. Result shows that there was a significant negative correlation between age and worker safety commitment, worker safety priority and risk non-acceptance. Workers having accident experience perceive safety climate and safety behavior slightly worse than workers having no accident experience. Demographic data of workers such as age and work experience showed critical role in accident. Implication of the result is further discussed.
Voting their Conscience: Poverty, Education, Social Pressure and Vote Buying in Indonesia
Ari Pradhanawati,George Towar Ikbal Tawakkal,Andrew D. Garner 동아시아연구원 2019 Journal of East Asian Studies Vol.19 No.1
When citizens are offered cash and gifts by candidates, they can either vote for candidates offering the money, refuse the money, or take the money and vote for whichever candidate they prefer (e.g., “vote their conscience”). Which citizens “vote their conscience” versus the other options available to them? This manuscript examines the effect of poverty, education, and social pressure on how citizens in the Central Java city of Semarang, Indonesia react to offers of cash from politicians. We find that poverty and education interact to create important and interesting patterns of responses. The citizens most likely to “vote their conscience” are those with lower income yet higher levels of formal education whereas higher income, more highly educated citizens are most likely to refuse the money. We also examine factors that create social pressure for citizens to “sell” their votes by supporting the candidates offering cash.

Ari Silbermintz,Manar Matar,Amit Assa,Noam Zevit,Yael Mozer Glassberg,Raanan Shamir 대한소화기내시경학회 2019 Clinical Endoscopy Vol.52 No.3
Background/Aims: Colorectal polyps are a common cause of lower gastrointestinal bleeding in children. Our aim was to study thecauses of isolated lower gastrointestinal bleeding and to analyze the characteristics of the colorectal polyps found in our cohort. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed colonoscopic procedures performed between 2007 and 2015. Children with isolated lowergastrointestinal bleeding were included in the study. Results: A total of 185 colonoscopies were performed for isolated lower gastrointestinal bleeding. The median patient age was 8 years, and 77 patients (41.6%) were found to have colonic polyps. Normal colonoscopy findings were observed and acute colitis was detectedin 77 (41.6%) and 14 (7.4%) patients, respectively. Single colonic polyps and 2–3 polyps were detected in 73 (94.8%) and 4 (5.2%) patientswith polyps, respectively. Of the single polyps, 69 (94.5%) were juvenile polyps, among which 65 (94.2%) were located in the left colon. Conclusions: Single left-sided juvenile polyps were the most common cause of isolated lower gastrointestinal bleeding in our study. Itwas rare to find multiple polyps and polyps proximal to the splenic flexure in our cohort. A full colonoscopy is still recommended in allpatients in order to properly diagnose the small but significant group of patients with pathologies found proximal to the splenic flexure.
Barriers to Access Formal Financial Services: An Empirical Study from Indonesia
Ari Dwi JAYANTI,Kemala Sari AGUSTI,Yuli SETIYAWATI 한국유통과학회 2021 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.8 No.11
The condition of financial services in Indonesia is unique, based on various characteristics, behaviors, and preferences. Therefore, the study of finance and banking is interesting to study as a recommendation for government policies. This paper aims to analyze the barriers to accessing formal financial services in Indonesia and why informal financial services are preferred. This paper presents a case study of financial inclusion in selected provinces in Indonesia using the SOFIA dataset from the Ministry of National Development Planning. Overall, this data consists of 20,000 individuals from 4 provinces and 93 regions representing the population in eastern Indonesia. The analysis was carried out by processing individual-level cross-sectional data surveyed in 2017 using the probit binary logistic method. The results identify the individual barriers in accessing formal financial services, including account ownership, saving, and credit activities in the formal financial institutions, and amplify the image by analyzing what determinants affect people to choose informal institutions. We found that some individual characteristics such as age, gender, education, income, employment status, residence, and access to technology significantly affect the barrier to formal financial services in East Indonesia.
