In this paper, a study is carried out to investigate the dielectric, physical and chemical properties of Palm Oil (PO) and Coconut Oil (CO) under open thermal ageing condition. The type of PO used in this study is Refined Bleached and Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) Olein. The ageing experiment was carried out at 85 °C and 115 °C for 1, 3, 5, 7 and 14 days. Several parameters were measured such as AC breakdown voltage, dielectric dissipation factor, relative permittivity, resistivity, viscosity, moisture and acidity throughout the ageing duration. Based on the study, it is found that there are no significant changes on the AC breakdown voltages and relative permittivities for both RBDPO and CO. At ageing temperature of 115°C, there are clear reduction trends of dielectric dissipation factor for CO and resistivities for most of RBDPO. On the other hand, no clear trends are observed for viscosities, moisture and acidities of RBDPO and CO throughout the ageing duration.
Nano-pyrite as a Reductant to Remove Chromium in Groundwater
Nurul Aqilah Abdul,Suhaimi Abdul-Talib,Amnorzahira Amir 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.23 No.3
Removal of total chromium (CrT) by nano-pyrite (nano-FeS2) was investigated under different environmental conditions. Size of nano-FeS2 was in the range of 50−100 nm and it contained Fe and S. Removal kinetic rate constant of CrT was significantly dependent on the suspension pH and concentrations of CrT, nano-FeS2 and Humic Acid (HA). The removal kinetic rate constant of CrT by nano-FeS2 was decreased as the concentration of CrT was increased (0.43−0.29 min−1), while contradict kinetic result was observed as the concentration of nano-FeS2 was increased (1.11−2.78 min−1). The removal kinetic rate constant of CrT was significantly increased as the suspension pH increased (0.86−3.0 min−1). However, the removal kinetic rate constant of CrT was significant decreased in the present of HA (1.25−0.25 min−1). The removal kinetic rate constant of CrT by nano-FeS2 was strongly controlled by the reactive surface area of nano-FeS2. Identification of the formation of FeCr2O4 on the surface of nano-FeS2 reveals that adsorption, complexation and reduction reactions may occur during the removal reaction. This study provides fundamental knowledge on the fate of Cr under different groundwater conditions. Findings from this study can be used to enhance remediation technology of removal heavy metals from groundwater.
Optic Neuropathy in Thyroid Eye Disease: A Case Series
Nur Aqilah Salleh,Wong Hon Seng,Hazlita Dato’ Mohd Isa 대한가정의학회 2016 Korean Journal of Family Medicine Vol.37 No.3
In patients with thyroid disease, ocular involvement or thyroid ophthalmopathy is common, irrespective of theirthyroid status. A common feature of thyroid eye disease is eyelid retraction, which leads to a classical starry gaze(Kocher sign). Treatment with radioactive iodine (RAI) is a known therapy for hyperthyroidism. However, this treatmentmay lead to or worsen thyroid ophthalmopathy. We report a case series of two patients with thyrotoxicosis, who presented with an atypical and subtle occurrence of thyroid eye disease (TED) soon after RAI therapy. One ofthe patients was initially diagnosed and treated for dry eyes; however, over a period of time, the patient’s vision progressivelydeteriorated. Clinical and radiological investigations confirmed thyroid ophthalmopathy with low serumthyroid hormone levels. Both patients recovered well after immediate intensive intravenous steroid treatment. These cases highlight the importance of recognizing partial ptosis as one of the presenting signs of active TEDamong general practitioners and physicians.

Membrane isolation, ion exchange, precipitation, transformation, and biosorption are all viable methods for pollutant removal. Adsorption is a common commercial method to concentrate precious molecules or eliminate contaminants, and it is a cost-effective method of treating industrial wastewater. A novel method for increasing their removal effectiveness has been developed for this purpose, using a low-cost biosorbent made from durian husk and Evans blue (EB) dye as a subject. The EB dye adsorption percentage was determined to be 95.95% with 72.0 mg/g adsorption amount at optimal conditions of pH 2 and 40 °C. The second-order kinetic model fit the experimental data the best. Additionally, the results indicated that the Sips isotherm model fits the experimental data better and that the experiment involved single-layer adsorption on the adsorbent surface. A non-linear regression of the van’t Hoff plot gave negative values of Gibbs free energy (−39.38 to −41.48 kJ/mol) at all the temperatures studied (from 20 to 60 °C), indicating that the adsorption process is spontaneous and feasible. A negative value for the enthalpy (ΔHo=−23.37kJ/mol) indicated that the adsorption was exothermic, and the positive value of (ΔSo=54.55kJ/mol·K) concludes the nature of adsorption of Evans blue dye by Durian husk likely to follow a physisorption adsorption mechanism.

Purpose: This study intends to explore the knowledge distribution in immigrant entrepreneurship in a host country Malaysia. In Malaysia, most immigrants are workers who later started their own businesses. They have a higher tendency to engage in entrepreneurial activities thus knowledge distribution from previous employment is necessary. Research design, data and methodology: This qualitative study using in-depth interview approach was carried out with five immigrant entrepreneurs from Bangladesh conducting business in Malaysia. The data were gathered and analysed using thematic analysis facilitated by ATLAS.ti software. Results: The findings provide useful insights on the significance of knowledge obtained during immigrant entrepreneurs’ former employment in the host country, enabling them to identify the needed resources quickly to launch a successful business in a host country. Conclusions: This study contributes to the Knowledge Spillover Theory of Entrepreneurship specifically in the context of immigrant entrepreneurship who have former employment in the same business sector and a proposition is developed. For practicality, the findings provide some insights for immigrants who want to start businesses in the host country which allow them to identify and exploit entrepreneurial opportunities due to knowledge distribution at their former employment in the host country later facilitates successful business establishment there.
The Impact of Cross-correlation on Mobile Robot Localization
Hamzah Ahmad,Nur Aqilah Othman 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2015 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.13 No.5
This paper deals with the theoretical investigation of the importance of cross-correlation in mobile robot localization. Two different case studies were conducted to examine the effects of crosscorrelation terms on the estimation. The first case refers to a situation when a mobile robot moves and calculates its position relative to a landmark, while in the second case the mobile robot is independent of the landmark position. The preliminary results obtained have indicated that the updated state covariance of the mobile robot that is independent of the landmark position could decrease or increase compared to that of the mobile robot that depends on the landmark position. The results are then evaluated through simulation which is consistently agrees with the theoretical results.

Background and Objectives: Despite few reports on the influence of ambient acoustic noise on auditory brainstem response (ABR) to click stimuli, its effects on ABR to level-specific (LS) stimuli have not been systematically investigated. This study aimed to investigate the influence of ambient acoustic noise on ABR findings using both LS chirp and click stimuli.Subjects and Methods: Twelve normal-hearing adults participated in this repeated measure design study. The ABRs were acquired at 80, 50, and 30 dBnHL using two stimuli (LS chirp and click) under two conditions (quiet and noise). The ABRs under noise conditions were acquired using babble noise and white noise. The noise level was set at 55 dBA. Two-way repeated measure analysis was used to identify the main effects of the test conditions, stimulus types, and their interactions at a 95% confidence level. Results: No significant influence of ambient acoustic noise on ABR findings was identified at all intensity levels. No significant difference was found in the number of signal averages to reach the 0.04 μV residual noise as stopping criteria among the ABRs recorded with different types of stimuli and test conditions. The ABR waves I and V amplitudes were larger with LS chirp than with click stimulus. Conclusions: Ambient acoustic noise has no significant influence on ABR findings and the ABR test time based on the 55 dBA noise level used in this study.

Purpose: Online shopping festivals have quickly become the newest trend in online shopping worldwide due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This has led to marketing distribution channels that traditionally emphasized traditional techniques having turned to electronic commerce platforms. Although the pandemic scenario encourages online purchasing, other factors, such as the influence of participation intention to shop during the Online Shopping Festival, must also be considered. Research design, data and methodology: Multiple linear regression analysis was used to test the hypothesis based on data from 121 respondents who are actively involved with online shopping activities in Klang Valley, Selangor. Results: The results of this study show that promotion categories and the perceived influence of mass participation have a significant influence on participation intention. Meanwhile, the perceived temptation of price promotion and perceived fun promotional activities did not significantly influence participation intention. Conclusions: Theoretically, this study contributes to the literature by using the Theory of Planned Behavior and Stimulus-Response models to explain the factors that drive participation intention for online shopping. In practice, this study attracts and encourages customers to shop during the festival day because various attractive promotions are offered by sellers in Malaysia
