Players’ Perceptions of Coaches’ Contributions to their Mental Toughness
Roberta Antonini Philippe,Sam S. Sagar,Markus Gerber,Denis Hauw 한국코칭능력개발원 2016 International Journal of Coaching Science Vol.10 No.1
This study examined elite rugby players’ perceptions of the mechanisms by which their coaches contribute to the development and maintenance of their mental toughness. Seventeen elite rugby players (Mage = 28.6 years; SD = 6.1 years) from the Swiss National Rugby Team were interviewed individually. Qualitative data analysis based on personal construct psychology (Kelly, 1955/1991) revealed three dimensions of the coaches’ role: (1) expertise, (2) instruction, and (3) development. The findings show that the nature of the coach-athlete relationship and interactions can help to develop and maintain mental toughness. Moreover, coaches have a particularly strong influence during the development stage, when athletes express great interest in their coaches’ behaviour as a model for improving their own mental toughness. The findings have both practical and theoretical implications and are valuable for coaches, athletes, sport practitioners and scholars, informing their understanding of athletes’ mental toughness and the coach-athlete working relationship. Further, they inform coaching scientists and practitioners in their endeavours to design educational programmes for coaches.
코 하우징: 커뮤니티에 적합한 임의적인 단순성과 궁극적인 요구

For over twenty years there has been increasing awareness in America of the misfit between the changing composition of the American family and the housing options available to them in the suburbs. A quest for updated housing models has led, among others, to the rise of cohousing, collaborative neighborhoods combining private home ownership with an intense community experience and a strong environmental conservation emphasis. This paper reports on a two-year qualitative case study of a cohousing community investigating the cohousing premise that the physical features prescribed for the co-housing model are a key component for attaining desired levels of community connectedness and support. Findings suggest that, despite difficulty in negotiating community versus privacy, the physical environment of co-housing provides a good fit for the social intentions of individuals seeking to recapture a missing sense of community and live more sustainable lives.
ON THE COMPLETE CONVERGENCE FOR ARRAYS OF ROWWISE EXTENDED NEGATIVELY DEPENDENT RANDOM VARIABLES
Qiu, Dehua,Chen, Pingyan,Antonini, Rita Giuliano,Volodin, Andrei Korean Mathematical Society 2013 대한수학회지 Vol.50 No.2
A general result for the complete convergence of arrays of rowwise extended negatively dependent random variables is derived. As its applications eight corollaries for complete convergence of weighted sums for arrays of rowwise extended negatively dependent random variables are given, which extend the corresponding known results for independent case.

Understanding the interaction between liquids and deformable solid surfaces is a fascinating fundamental problem, in which interaction and coupling of capillary and viscoelastic effects, due to solid substrate deformation, give rise to complex wetting mechanisms. Here we investigated as a model case the behavior of water drops on two smooth bitumen substrates with different rheological properties, defined as hard and soft (with complex shear moduli in the order of 10(7) and 10(5) Pa, respectively, at 1 Hz), focusing both on wetting and on dewetting behavior. By means of classical quasi -static contact angle measurements and drop impact tests, we show that the water drop behavior, can significantly change from the quasi -static to the dynamic regime on soft viscoelastic surfaces, with the transition being defined by the substrate rheological properties. As a result, we also show that on the hard substrate, where the elastic response is dominant under all investigated conditions, classical quasi -static contact angle measurements provide consistent results that can be used to predict the drop dynamic wetting behavior, such as drop deposition or rebound after impact, as typically observed for nondeformable substrates. Differently, on soft surfaces, the formation of wetting ridges did not allow to define uniquely the substrate intrinsic advancing and receding contact angles. In addition, despite showing a high adhesion to the soft surface in quasi -static measurements, the drop was surprisingly able to rebound and escape from the surface after impact, as it is typically observed for hydrophobic surfaces. These results highlight that measurements of wetting properties for viscoelastic substrates need to be critically used and that wetting behavior of a liquid on viscoelastic surfaces is a function of the characteristic time scales.

Objective: This study investigated the effects of photoperiod on nutrient digestibility, hair follicle (HF) activity and cashmere quality in Inner Mongolia white cashmere goats. Methods: Twenty-four female (non-pregnant) Inner Mongolia white cashmere goats aged 1 to 1.5 years old with similar live weights (mean, 20.36±2.63 kg) were randomly allocated into two groups: a natural daily photoperiod group (NDPP group:10 to 16 h light, n = 12) and a short daily photoperiod group (SDPP group: 7 h light:17 h dark, n = 12). All the goats were housed in individual pens and fed the same diets from May 15 to October 15, 2015. The digestibility of crude protein (CP), dry matter (DM), and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) were measured in different months, along with secondary hair follicle (SHF) activity, concentration of melatonin (MEL), and cashmere quality. Results: Although there was no significant difference in the live weights of goats between the SDPP and NDPP groups (p>0.05), the CP digestibility of goats in the SDPP group was significantly increased compared to the NDPP group in July, September, and October (p<0.05). For the DM and NDF digestibility of goats, a significant increase (p<0.05) was found during in September in the SDPP group. Furthermore, compared to the NDPP group, the SHF activity in July, the MEL concentration in July, and the cashmere fiber length and fiber weight in October were significantly increased in the SDPP group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The cashmere production of Inner Mongolia white cashmere goats was increased without obvious deleterious effects on the cashmere fibers in the SDPP group (metabolizable energy, 8.34 MJ/kg; CP, 11.16%; short daily photoperiod, 7 h light:17 h dark).
