        FICCO(필리핀의 지역협동조합)의 “뿌리”와 “열매”

        ( Anselmo B. Mercado ) 한국협동조합학회 2017 韓國協同組合硏究 Vol.35 No.3

(All for One, One for All)”, This article tells about one of the most successful and most vibrant cooperatives in the Philippines - the First Community Cooperative (FICCO). It describes the “fruits” produced in sixty-three years of growth that have benefited the members, their communities and society in general. Like a productive “tree”, FICCO has yielded its “fruits” because of its well-established “roots”. Currently, as of September 2017, FICCO reached Total Assets of Php 11.09 Billion ($220,180,000) and a Total Membership of 309,598. It is the biggest community-type cooperative in the Philippines, and the second biggest of banking cooperatives in the country. All these resources have been generated by FICCO’s members from within their internal resources (no “external aids”). What one scholar said, “You can’t have the fruits unless you take care of the roots”, has been proven in FICCO. The pioneers gave FICCO the very philosophy, core values and principles of COOPERATIVE-ISM: democratic ownership and control of business enterprises by members, distributing “surpluses” from the business operations back to the members through dividends and patronage refunds, volunteerism, continuous learning and education, equality, self-help-mutual-help for people and community development. All these may be captured in the famous motto - “All for One, One for All,” or “brotherhood economics”. The success and impact of FICCO has been inspiring, not only to the cooperative movement, but to many others involved in development work, It is something to share with others with pride and joy. It is unimaginable how a small school credit union could greatly impact on a bigger society, among people many of whom are plain ordinary folks. “Small is beautiful,” and indeed FICCO was. But today, FICCO is a “giant” of a cooperative - big in its vision and ideals, great in the little ways that members share their resources to help one another, and magnanimous of the leaders who are willing to serve generously “without counting the cost” to serve others.

The Design Proposal of a Desk and a Table Based on Product- to-Product Relation in a Domestic Space

        Mafalda Anselmo Narciso,정의철 한국디자인학회 2022 Design Works Vol.5 No.3

Throughout the past decades, people have been surrounded by an increasing number of objects, and while interactions between such objects and users have been acknowledged, little attention has been paid to the relationship between objects. Based on previous research, the lack of consideration applied to the interaction between objects in space contributes to the increase of problems, such as clutter, mental problems, or unbalanced relationships between the user and their objects. Going beyond the design solutions that primarily engage with the user in their domestic space, exploring a concept such as product-to-product relation can enhance new solutions that can meet both the problems associated with the domestic space, as well as the daily needs of contemporary users. Therefore, this research proposes to explore a design approach that considers the physical relation and physical properties between objects by analyzing object’s relations with study cases, by defining the product- to-product relationship, including its characteristics and its position to the user, and by exploring the usage of objects’ physical properties, in this case, the weight, to improve the relationship between objects and users’ life in their domestic spaces and to develop solutions in the field of design.

      • Poster Session:PS 0557 ; Oncology : Massive Bleeding as the First Clinical Manifestation of Metastatic Prostate Cancer Due to Primary Fibrinolysis, Successfully Treated with Aminocaproic Acid

( Monica Palma Anselmo ),( Gustavo Nobre De Jesus ),( Joao Madeira Lopes ),( Rui M M Victorino ),( Joao Meneses Santos ) 대한내과학회 2014 대한내과학회 추계학술대회 Vol.2014 No.1

Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is the most frequent coagulation disorder associated with metastatic prostate adenocarcinoma. However, DIC as an initial presentation of prostate cancer with primary fi brinolysis is extremely rare. The appropriate treatment to control bleeding in these situations is challenging, controversial and based on isolated case reports in the literature. A 66-year-old male presented at the emergency department with acute severe spontaneous ecchymoses localized to the limbs, latero-cervical hematoma and hemothorax. Prostate specifi c antigen level was 385 μg/L, bone scintigraphy revealed multiple bone metastases and prostate biopsy confi rmed adenocarcinoma (Gleason 9; 4+5). Laboratory investigation showed a pattern of primary fi brinolysis rather than the more common intravascular coagulation mechanism. Epsilon aminocaproic acid in monotherapy was initiated with a clear and rapid control of bleeding manifestations. This rare case of massive bleeding due to hyperfi brinolysis as the fi rst manifestation of prostate cancer suggests that in selected cases where the acute bleeding dyscrasia is clearly associated to a dominant fi brinolysis mechanism it is possible to use an approach of monotherapy with antifi brinolytics.

Extensive, Non-Healing Scalp Ulcer Associated with Trauma-Induced Chronic Osteomyelitis

        Pedro Valerón-Almazán,Anselmo Javier Gómez-Duaso,Pino Rivero,Jaime Vilar,Luis Dehesa,Néstor Santana,Gregorio Carretero 대한피부과학회 2011 Annals of Dermatology Vol.23 No.-

A 77-year-old woman presented with a trauma to the scalp caused from the blade of a windmill. The condition was persistent from the past 50 years. At the initial examination,a deep, foul-smelling and well-circumscribed ulcer was apparent on the head region, involving the majority of the cranium. Skin biopsy specimens of the lesion were nonspecific. The bone biopsy showed extensive necrotic areas of bone and soft tissues, with lymphocytic exudate foci. A computed tomography scan of the head revealed bone destruction principally involving both the parietal bones, and parts of the frontal and occipital bones. Streptococcus parasanguis was isolated from the skin culture, and Proteus mirabilis and Peptostreptococcus sp. were identified in the cultures from the bone. A long-term treatment with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (1 g/12 h) and levofloxacin (500 mg/day) was prescribed, but even after 6 months, the lesion remained unchanged. The frequency of occurrence of scalp ulcers in dermatological patients is less, principally because of the rich blood supply to this area. We have not found any similar case report of a scalp ulcer secondary to chronic osteomyelitis discovered more than 50 years after the causal trauma. We want to highlight the importance of complete cutaneous evaluation including skin and bone biopsies, when scalp osteomyelitis is suspected. (Ann Dermatol 23(S3) S364∼S367, 2011)

What is known about the medicinal potential of bamboo?

Janayne Gagliano,Fernanda Anselmo-Moreira,Wilton Ricardo Sala‑Carvalho,Cláudia Maria Furlan 경희대학교 융합한의과학연구소 2022 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.22 No.3

Bamboos are considered one of China’s four noble plants and have been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. Despite that, what is really known about the chemical composition and biological activities of bamboos? Which species have been studied? What trials have been done to test their medicinal properties? This paper compiled studies of the last 11 years about phytochemical and biological activities of bamboos aiming a critical analysis of the results to provide perspectives and direc‑ tions for future research using bamboo species as a potential source of drug leads. This review gathers available information on major scientifc databases from the period of 2007–2018. A total of 136 papers regarding 87 bamboo species and 24 genera were compiled. Studies regarding phytochemical and or bioactivity of species from the Olyreae tribe (herbaceous bamboo) were not found. Phenolic compounds were the major class of secondary metabolites reported for bamboos species, followed by coumarins and alkaloids. Antioxidant capacity was the most performed bioassay. Phyllostachys has been the most studied genus. This review highlights a big lack of knowledge regarding American bamboos, mainly for the herbaceous species. Although bamboos are known to have a diversity of favonoids, there are other classes of constituents that should be better studied. There are few bamboo species with their in vivo biological potential tested. Therefore, bamboos have economically important secondary metabolite classes with a possible medicinal application, but further studies on phytochemistry and in vivo assays are still needed to better evaluate their benefts to human health.

The Glycemic Index of Indica and Japonica Subspecies Parboiled Rice Grown in Italy and the Effect on Glycemic Index of Different Parboiling Processes

        Mariangela Rondanelli,Riccardo Anselmo Ferrario,Simone Perna,Davide Guido,Clara Gasparri,Cinzia Ferraris,Alessandro Cavioni,Francesca Mansueto,Giuseppe Mazzola,Zaira Patelli,Gabriella Peroni,Martina P 한국식품영양과학회 2023 Journal of medicinal food Vol.26 No.6

Rice is generally considered a high-glycemic index (GI) food, but numerous studies show that parboiling reduces the GI. There are no studies on GI of Indica and Japonica subspecies parboiled rice grown in Italy. The aim of this study was (1) to evaluate GI in different varieties of parboiled rice (ribe, white and brown long B, basmati, black, red, roma, and arborio); (2) to evaluate GI of same variety of rice subjected to different rice parboiling processes (parboiled ribe and parboiled long B with two different methods: flora and conventional method); (3) to evaluate GI of two by-products of parboiled rice: white and brown rice cake. Participants were 10 healthy individuals (20–30 years old, body mass index 18.5–25 kg/m2). Proximate composition and GI were determined by using standard methods. All parboiled rice assessed is low-GI (brown long B 48.1 ± 6.4 by flora method, ribe 52.0 ± 1.8 GI by flora method, black rice 52.3 ± 7.6 by flora method, long B 52.4 ± 3.9 by flora method, long B 53.4 ± 5.1 by conventional method, ribe 54.4 ± 4.3 GI by conventional method, Roma 54.4 ± 7.9 GI by flora method, and arborio 54.4 ± 7.9 GI by flora method), except red rice that is of medium-GI (56.1 ± 7.0 GI), and both classic and brown cakes that are high-GI (respectively, 83.3 ± 8.9 GI and 102.2 ± 5.5 GI). Parboiled rice is low-GI and so is favorable for the dietary management of metabolic disorders and celiac disease. Clinicaltrials.gov (NCT05333081).

Mössbauer Spectroscopic Studies of NiZn Ferrite Prepared by the Sol–Gel Method

        Mohammad Niyaifar,Hory Mohammadpour,Anselmo F. R. Rodriguez 한국자기학회 2015 Journal of Magnetics Vol.20 No.3

This study was aimed to study the effect of Zn content on the hyperfine parameters and the structural variation of Ni1-xZnxFe₂O₄ for x = 0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8. To achieve this, a sol?gel route was used for the preparation of samples and the obtained ferrites were investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and Mossbauer spectroscopy. The formation of spinel phase without any impurity peak was identified by X-ray diffraction of all the samples. Moreover, the estimated crystallite size by X-ray line broadening indicates a decrease with increasing Zn content. This result was in agreement with the scanning electron microscopy result, indicating the reduction in grain growth with further zinc substitution. The room-temperature Mossbauer spectra show that the hyperfine fields at both the A and B sites decreased with increasing Zn content; however, the rate of reduction is not the same for different sites. Moreover, the best fit parameter showed that the quadrupole splitting values of B site increased from the pure nickel ferrite to the sample with x = 0.8.
