Study of Road Surface Characteristics in Frequency Domain using Micro-optical 3-D Camera
Animesh Das,Verena Rosauer,J. Stefan Bald 대한토목학회 2015 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.19 No.5
A number of methods are used to assess the road surface characteristics, in terms of its roughness, skid resistance, texture etc. In the present work, three-dimensional (3-D) road profile data of asphalt pavements, captured by a micro-optical 3-D measuring device (covering an area of about 26 mm × 20 mm), is used to study the road surface characteristics. Analysis is performed in frequency domain to extract information on both microtexture and macrotexture from the same source data collected by the equipment. The surface parameters derived from 3-D measurement are compared with conventional parameters gathered by standard methods namely, sand patch, pendulum tester, and sideway force coefficient measurement. The proposed surface parameters show a good correspondence with the results obtained by the conventional methods. Thus, the method presented in the paper seems to have a potential for fast and automated evaluation of functional characteristics of pavement surface.

This study provides the surface characteristics (surface energy and the acid–base properties) of surface treated activated carbons (ACs) using inverse gas chromatography. The surface energy and the acid–base characteristic of studied adsorbents are determined by the retention time using several non-polar and polar probes at 140 °C. It is observed that the dispersive surface energy dominates for all AC samples. The treatment of Maxsorb III with H2 exhibits the highest basicity due to lower oxygen content on the surface. The presented results express further insights and useful information in functionalizing the activated carbon for various industrial applications.
Role of Biquad and Hilbert Filters in Removing Noise – A Simulink Analysis
Animesh Kumar Jha 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.8 No.9
Often some noise signals get interleaved with speech signals and owing to noisy surroundings the captured signal may not sound as desired. For such cases, a combination of Hilbert transform filter and Biquad filter in cascaded form might prove helpful. An arrangement in a simulink model demonstrates successful noise reduction in a voice signal recorded from a microphone. Both the filters used were of Direct Form structure, while the Hilbert filter was a Direct Form FIR, the Biquad was Direct Form II structure filter. The observations for speech signal as well as noise signals have been produced as results that show a significant noise removal.

In this paper, we prove the existence, uniqueness and stability of solution for some nonlinear functional-integral equations by using generalized coupled Lipschitz condition. We prove a fixed point theorem to obtain the mentioned aim in Banach space $X = C([a,b],\mathbb{R})$. As application we study some volterra integral equations with linear, nonlinear and single kernel.

Zuverlässige Berichterstattung: Das Screening einer 80‐teiligen Tricarbocyanin‐Bibliothek lieferte CyNAMLA‐381 als Nahinfrarot‐SERS‐Reporter mit guter Signalstabilität und höherer Empfindlichkeit als der Standard (SERS=oberflächenverstärkte Raman‐Spektroskopie). Durch Verkapselung von CyNAMLA‐381 an der Oberfläche von Gold‐Nanopartikeln und Konjugation mit Antikörpern wurden SERS‐Nanomarker mit ausgezeichneter Empfindlichkeit, Stabilität und Tumorspezifität in Xenograft‐Modellen erhalten (siehe Bild).

Electrochemical oxidation of methanol and water splitting are deemed as effective pathways forproducing ideal clean energy with low emission of pollutant. In this report, copper oxide microstructuresare directly grown on conductive Ni foam substrate by a facile electrodeposition method followed by apost-annealing treatment. The CuO/Ni@400 electrocatalyst displays an onset potential of 0.38 V vs Ag/AgCl for methanol electro-oxidation and an overpotential of 364 mV at the current density of 10 mA cm 2for oxygen evolution reaction which is better than the previously reported Cu-based catalysts in alkalinemedium.

The effect of an ethanolic extract of the plant Trianthema portulacastrum L. on the $CCI_4$-induced chronic hepatocellular damage of Swiss albino mice has been investigated. The normal mice received olive oil (0.2 ml/mouse) for five weeks. The $CCI_4$ control mice, on the other hand, received $CCI_4$ (0.05 ml/mouse) in olive oil for five weeks. The extract was administered at the dose of 100 mg/kg or 150 mg/kg for five weeks by gastric intubation in addition to $CCI_4$ treatment. The $CCI_4$ administraction alone caused hepatocellular necrosis, severe anemia, leucopaenia, lymphocytopaenia, neutrophilia, eosinophilia and haemoglobinaemia along with the alterations of plasma albumin and globulin. The administration of plant extract (at 100 or 150 mg/kg) restored the $CCI_4$-induced alterations of the haematological parameters to the normal level. The extract of T. portulacastrum elicited a marked protection against $CCI_4$-induced hepatotoxicity as indicated by the several haematological parameters, related indices of formed elements, and different fractions of plasma protein. We also observed the dose-dependent antihepatotoxic effect of the extraction on these mice. The 150 mg/kg of extract was found to be more effective in normalizing the toxic effects of $CCI_4$ on the above parameters of mice. These results suggest that the hepatoprotective effect of T. poltulacastrum could be caused by its critical involvement in modulating several factors associated with erythropoiesis, and the boosting of general immunity of the host.
