Modeling and Analyzing One Vendor-Multiple Retailers VMI SC Using Stackelberg Game Theory

        Amir-Mohammad Golmohammadi,Negar Jahanbakhsh Javid,Lily Poursoltan,Hamid Esmaeeli 대한산업공학회 2016 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.15 No.4

Game theory is a powerful tool for analyzing the Supply chain (SC) with different conflicting elements. Among them, the Stackelberg game is the one in which a player as leader has more power than the other ones as followers. Since in many SC systems one element has, in essence, more power than the others; the Stackelberg game has found many applications in SC studies. In this paper, we apply the Stackelberg game-theoretic approach and the corresponding equilibrium point to formulate and analyze a two echelon VMI SC. Comprehensive computational results on an experimental case are conducted to numerically analyze the performance of VMI system against three groups of critical parameters. Moreover, a critical comparison demonstrates the poorer performance of decentralized VMI system than centralized one. This naturally necessitates designing proper contracts between VMI partners in order to more effectively implement the realistic decentralized system.

The effect of sonication power on the sonochemical synthesis of titania nanoparticles

Amir Hassanjani-Roshan,Seyed Mohammad Kazemzadeh,Mohammad Reza Vaezi,Ali Shokuhfar 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2011 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.12 No.3

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were synthesized by a sonochemical method. C12H28O4Ti (Tetraisopropyl titanate),ethanol (C2H5OH), sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and deionized water were used as the initial materials. The output power of the ultrasonic device plays the most important role in the size and morphology of the final products. Sonochemical processes at different sonication power were carried out at synthesis temperature (50 oC) for 1.5 h and then the materials were washed and dried at room temperature for 48 h. To determine the particle size and also evaluate the morphological properties, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used. TG/DTA analysis was used to for determine the temperature and time of crystallization. From TEM observations the size of titanium dioxide nanoparticles is estimated to be significantly smaller than ~12 to ~30 nm.

Violence, Negligence and Suicidal Tendency among Physically Disabled Street Children

Amir Mohammad Sayem 한국사회복지학회 2011 Asian Social Work and Policy Review Vol.5 No.1

This study was carried out among physically disabled street children (PDSC) in the city of Dhakain Bangladesh. The aim of the study was to explore violence, negligence and suicidal tendencyamong PDSC. To do this, 30 PDSC (15 male and 15 female) were conveniently selected and interviewedwith an interview protocol developed by a step-by-step process. The results of this studyrevealed that all the participants experienced physical violence but female children were more likelyto experience sexual violence than male children. Violence against disabled children came fromboth family members or relatives and other people. As with violence, all the participants experiencedsome sort of negligence, again both from family members or relatives and other people. Moreimportantly, this study found that more than half of the physically disabled children had suicidaltendency to some extent, i.e. some thought of committing suicide at least once in their life, whileothers attempted to commit suicide due to the sufferings that came with disability. This study concludeswith some policy implications, particularly: providing counseling to parents and the disabledchildren; training of the service providers who provide services to disabled persons; and buildingawareness through mass media.

Assessment of quality of life and its affecting factors in osteosarcopenic individuals in the Iranian older adult population: Bushehr Elderly Health (BEH) program

        Amir Mohammad Vahdani,Mahnaz Sanjari,Noushin Fahimfar,Mahbube Ebrahimpur,Gita shafiee,Kazem Khalagi,Mohammad Javad Mansourzadeh,Iraj Nabipour,Bagher Larijani,Afshin Ostovar 대한골다공증학회 2023 Osteoporosis and Sarcopenia Vol.9 No.4

Objectives: This cross-sectional study, conducted as part of the Bushehr Elderly Health program stage II in Bushehr, Iran, aimed to evaluate health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) in individuals aged ≥ 60 with osteosarcopenia, a condition characterized by the co-occurrence of osteopenia/osteoporosis and sarcopenia. Given the increasing elderly population worldwide, understanding the HR-QoL of this demographic is crucial, with osteosarcopenia being a significant factor. Methods: The study enrolled 2369 participants aged ≥ 60 and collected demographic and anthropometric data. Various questionnaires, including the Short Form 12, Patient Health Questionnaire-9, Activities of Daily Living, and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, were administered. Comparisons were made between individuals with and without osteosarcopenia. Regression models were employed to identify variables associated with HRQoL in those with osteosarcopenia. Results: Key findings revealed that 22.5% of participants had osteosarcopenia. Significantly different HR-QoL measures were observed between the 2 groups, especially in physical functioning and physical component summary scores. Male gender, advanced age, and chronic illnesses were linked to lower physical and mental HRQoL scores among those with osteosarcopenia. In female participants, a history of fractures and physical disability were associated with reduced quality of life. Conclusions: This study underscores the negative impact of osteosarcopenia on HR-QoL, particularly in male participants, with a focus on physical aspects. It also highlights age and chronic disease as contributing factors to diminished HR-QoL in individuals with osteosarcopenia. These findings emphasize the importance of addressing osteosarcopenia in the elderly population to improve their overall well-being.

A Bi-Objective Stochastic Closed-loop Supply Chain Network Design Problem Considering Downside Risk

        Amir Mohammad Fathollahi Fard,Fatemeh Gholian-Jouybari,Mohammad Mahdi Paydar,Mostafa Hajiaghaei-Keshteli 대한산업공학회 2017 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.16 No.3

This paper deals with a closed-loop supply chain network and proposes new approaches in metaheuristics and exact methods as solution methods. Moreover, the downside risk is incorporated into the objective functions as a risk measure. Hence, the developed two-stage stochastic model aims to minimize the expected total cost and the downside risk, simultaneously. Besides, this study presents the closed-loop network which considers the forward and reverse networks in an integrated manner. In the forward network, this case just considers the forward network, while, the reverse logistic fully focused on the backward network by considering recovering centers (i.e. from recovering centers to remanufacture, recycling and disposal centers). In order to address the problem, ICA, PSO, GA, and also ɛ-constraint method, are utilized. In addition, the parameters of algorithms are tuned by Response Surface Method (RSM) with an MODM approach. To explain the efficiency and effectiveness of methods, four assessment metrics are introduced. At the end, the results show the capability of ICA through the most of the tests problem. According to the risk management, a real data set is used to do some sensitivity analyses on the proposed model.

Isotopic Analysis of Decay Heat Contributors From Actinides and Fission Fragments of Spent Nuclear Fuel for Intermediate- and Long-Term Storage Times

        Amir Mohammad Al-Ramady 한국방사성폐기물학회 2024 방사성폐기물학회지 Vol.22 No.1

In this research, a detailed analysis of the decay heat contributions of both actinides and non-actinides (fission fragments) from spent nuclear fuel (SNF) was made after 50 GWd·tHM−1 burnup of fresh uranium fuel with 4.5% enrichment lasted for 1,350 days. The calculations were made for a long storage period of 300 years divided into four sections 1, 10, 100, and 300 years so that we could study the decay heat and physical disposal ratios of radioactive waste in medium- and long-term storage periods. Fresh fuel burnup calculations were made using the code MCNP, while isotopic content and then decay heat were calculated using the built-in stiff equation solver in the MATLAB code. It is noted that only around 12 isotopes contribute more than 90% of the decay heat at all times. It is also noted that the contribution of actinides persists and is the dominant ether despite decreasing decay heat, while the effect of fission products decreases at a very rapid rate after about 40 years of storage.

Turning motion analysis for the finite-width rimless wheel as a passive walker

        Mohammad R. Hairi Yazdi,Amir Jaberi,Mohammad R. Sabaapour 대한기계학회 2017 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.31 No.7

The focus of studies in the field of passive walking has often been on straight walking, while less attention has been paid to the field of turning motions. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the passive motions with a focus on turning of a finite width rimless wheel as the simplest 3D model of the passive biped walkers. This study is divided into two main sections: Firstly, the limited passive turning is considered; secondly, the infinite passive turning is analyzed. A Poincaré map corresponding to a step is one of the common methods used for the determination of the periodic motions (limit cycles) and their specifications. It is emphasized that the Poincaré map has only one fixed point, indicating only one stable periodic motion that it is parallel to the steepest descent slope surface. In addition, the effect of variation among some parameters on rotational behavior and its convergence are investigated. The results of simulation are also verified via ADAMS software for 50 steps. In second part, we apply a novel surface profile namely “helical slope” for producing the continuous passive turning. More precisely, the wheel can turn stably on a helical circular path. Similarly, the stability of corresponding limit cycle for different values of revolving velocities and slopes of the helical surface are studied. The results indicate that the turning motion have the stronger stability than the straight walking.

Statistical analysis and optimization of simultaneous biological nutrients removal process in an intermittently aerated SBR

Amir Mohammad Mansouri,Ali Akbar Zinatizadeh,Mohsen Irandoust,Aazam Akhbari 한국화학공학회 2014 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.31 No.1

Simultaneous removal of carbon and nutrients from a synthetic wastewater in aerobic/anoxic sequence batch reactor (SBR) was investigated. The experiments were conducted based on a central composite design (CCD)and analyzed using response surface methodology (RSM). Two significant independent variables, cycle time and aeration time, were studied to analyze the process. Five dependent parameters--total COD (TCOD) removal, total nitrogen removal, total phosphorus removal, total Kjeldahl nitrogen removal and effluent nitrate concentration--were monitored as the process responses. The region of exploration for the process was taken as the area enclosed by cycle times (2,4.25 and 6.5 h) and aeration times (30, 40 and 50 min/h) boundaries. The maximum COD (87.18%) and TKN (78.94%)removal efficiencies were obtained at the cycle time and aeration time of 6.5 h and 50 min/h, respectively. While the maximum TN (71.15%) and phosphorus (68.91%) removal efficiencies were obtained at cycle time of 6.5 h and aeration time of 40min/h. As a result, high cycle time (6.5 h) and moderate aeration time (40min/h) were found to be the optimal region for maximum carbon and nitrogen removal efficiencies.
