Is Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer Thickness Change Related to Headache Lateralization in Migraine?
Alime Gunes,Seden Demirci,Levent Tok,Ozlem Tok,Serpil Demirci,Sü,leyman Kutluhan 대한안과학회 2016 Korean Journal of Ophthalmology Vol.30 No.2
Purpose: To evaluate retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in migraine patients with unilateral headache. Methods: A total of 58 patients diagnosed with migraine headache consistently occurring on the same side and 58 age- and sex-matched healthy subjects were evaluated in this cross-sectional study. RNFL thickness was measured using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography, and the side with the headache was compared with the contralateral side as well as with the results of healthy subjects. Results: The mean patient age was 33.05 ± 8.83 years, and that of the healthy subjects was 31.44 ± 8.64 years (p = 0.32). The mean duration of disease was 10.29 ± 9.03 years. The average and nasal RNFL thicknesses were significantly thinner on the side of headache and on the contralateral side compared to control eyes (p< 0.05, for all). Thinning was higher on the side of the headache compared to the contralateral side; however, this difference was not statistically significant. Conclusions: The RNFL thicknesses were thinner on the side of the headache compared to the contralateral side in the migraine patients with unilateral headache, but this difference was not statistically significant.
Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio in Patients with Nonarteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy
Alime Gunes,Musa Yigit,Levent Tok,Ozlem Tok 대한안과학회 2017 Korean Journal of Ophthalmology Vol.31 No.2
Purpose: To evaluate the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with nonarteritic anterior ischemic opticneuropathy (NAION). Methods: We investigated 112 subjects comprising 56 patients with NAION and 56 healthy controls at SüleymanDemirel University. Complete blood count, demographic, and clinic data from NAION patients were evaluatedin this study. The NLR was calculated in all individuals and compared between the patient and controlgroups. Cut-off values were also determined. Then, the relationship between NLR and visual outcomes wasinvestigated. Results: The cut-off value for NLR was 1.64. NLR values were significantly higher in NAION patients than inhealthy subjects (p < 0.001) and were directly correlated with erythrocyte sedimentation rate levels (r = 0.263,p = 0.006). Also, the NLR value was associated with visual outcomes. Receiver operator characteristic curveanalysis revealed a 0.63 area under the curve (confidence interval, 53.7% to 74.1%), 85% sensitivity and 41%specificity at the cut-off NLR value. Conclusions: The NLR may be a biomarker with good sensitivity that is quick, cost effective and easily detectedin serum. It can be used in clinical practice to predict a NAION patient’s prognosis in terms of visual outcomes.
Evaluation of Anterior Segment Parameters in Obesity
Alime Gunes,Feyzahan Uzun,Emine Esra Karaca,Mustafa Kalaycı 대한안과학회 2015 Korean Journal of Ophthalmology Vol.29 No.4
Purpose: To investigate anterior segment parameters in obese patients in comparison to healthy individuals. Methods: Thirty-four obese subjects and 34 age-sex-matched healthy subjects were enrolled in this prospective cross-sectional study. Ophthalmological examinations including intraocular pressure (IOP), central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), anterior chamber volume (ACV), anterior chamber angle (ACA), and axial length (AL) measurements were performed on each subject. Height and weight of all subjects were recorded and body mass index (BMI) was calculated. Results: IOP was significantly higher in the obese group (p = 0.003). The mean ACD in obese subjects was significantly lower than that in control subjects (p = 0.036). AL, ACV, ACA and CCT were not significantly different between the groups. There was a positive correlation between BMI and IOP (r = 0.404, p < 0.001). ACD and ACA were negatively correlated with BMI. Conclusions: IOP was significantly higher and ACD was significantly lower in obese subjects. AL, ACV, ACA and CCT were not significantly different between the groups. The impact of obesity on anterior chamber parameters should be further investigated.
Zygomatic miniplates for skeletal anchorage in orthopedic correction of Class III malocclusion
Erdal Bozkaya,Alime Sema Yuksel,Suleyman Bozkaya 대한치과교정학회 2017 대한치과교정학회지 Vol.47 No.2
Objective: To evaluate the effects of facemask therapy, which was anchored from the zygomatic buttresses of the maxilla by using two miniplates, in skeletal Class III patients with maxillary deficiency. Methods: Eighteen skeletal Class III patients (10 girls and 8 boys; mean age, 11.4 ± 1.28 years) with maxillary deficiency were treated using miniplate-anchored facemasks, and their outcomes were compared with those of a Class III control group (9 girls and 9 boys; mean age, 10.6 ± 1.12 years). Two I-shaped miniplates were placed on the right and left zygomatic buttresses of the maxilla, and a facemask was applied with a 400 g force per side. Intragroup comparisons were made using the Wilcoxon test, and intergroup comparisons were made using the Mann-Whitney U-test (p < 0.05). Results: In the treatment group, the maxilla moved 3.3 mm forward, the mandible showed posterior rotation by 1.5°, and the lower incisors were retroclined after treatment. These results were significantly different from those in the control group (p < 0.05). No significant anterior rotation of the palatal plane was observed after treatment. Moreover, changes in the sagittal positions of the maxillary incisors and molars were similar between the treatment and control groups. Conclusions: Skeletally anchored facemask therapy is an effective method for correcting Class III malocclusions, which also minimizes the undesired dental side effects of conventional methods in the maxilla.

Bifunctional Fe-SBA-15-SO3H mesoporous materials with different Si/Fe molar ratios (3, 5, and 7) have been synthesized via a simple direct hydrothermal method and characterized by XRD, N2-adsorption/desorption, TG/DTG and FT-IR techniques, and used as solid acid catalysts in the esterification of lactic acid with methanol. XRD and N2 sorption characterizations show successful iron doping within the mesoporous channels of SBA-15-SO3H. The FT-IR and TG/DTG characterizations also reveal the presence of iron. With the incorporation of Fe ions into the SBA-15-SO3H, the acid sites substantially increased because of the selfseparated acidity of the hydrolysis of Fe3+ solutions. However, in the Si/Fe = 3 molar ratio, the catalytic conversion decreased which is caused by the reduced cooperation effect between the acid pairs due to the weakened hydrogen bonds and collapse of the pore structure. This further suggests that the mesoporous structure decreases with the decrease in Si/Fe ratio.

Bifunctional Fe-SBA-15-$SO_3H$ mesoporous materials with different Si/Fe molar ratios (3, 5, and 7) have been synthesized via a simple direct hydrothermal method and characterized by XRD, $N_2$-adsorption/desorption, TG/DTG and FT-IR techniques, and used as solid acid catalysts in the esterification of lactic acid with methanol. XRD and $N_2$ sorption characterizations show successful iron doping within the mesoporous channels of SBA-15-$SO_3H$. The FT-IR and TG/DTG characterizations also reveal the presence of iron. With the incorporation of Fe ions into the SBA-15-$SO_3H$, the acid sites substantially increased because of the self-separated acidity of the hydrolysis of $Fe^{3+}$ solutions.

Alim Al Ayub Ahmed,Ngakan Ketut Acwin Dwijendra,Naresh Babu Bynagari,A. K. Modenov,M. Kavitha,Egor Dudukalov 대한산업공학회 2021 Industrial Engineeering & Management Systems Vol.20 No.4
Resource-constrained project scheduling is one of the well-known problems in project management. There are many cases where the appropriate schedule was determined first and material ordering plan was decided considering the given schedule. This approach ignores the interactions between these decisions. The integration of project scheduling, material procurement, and production planning of non-renewable resources leads to the coordination of project im-plementation and supplying resources. This coordination reduces total costs, including operating activities, produc-tion, ordering, holding, and penalty costs for late project completion. In addition to, there are many organizations that implement the multi project at the same time and decisions are made in a multi project environment. In this paper, a mixed integer programming model is presented for the resource-constrained multi-project scheduling problem and material ordering and production planning. Due to the application of Lagrangian relaxation algorithm in solving com-plex problems, this algorithm has been used to solve the proposed mathematical model. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model and solution method, a set of sample examples is solved and the numerical results are given. The findings of this paper show the good performance of the model and the solution method and can provide managerial insights for project managers and resource suppliers.
