Comparing building performance of supermarkets under future climate change: UK case study
Agha Usama Hasan,Ali Bahadori-Jahromi,Anastasia Mylona,Marco Ferri,Hexin Zhang Techno-Press 2022 Advances in energy research Vol.8 No.1
Focus on climate change and extreme weather conditions has received considerable attention in recent years. Civil engineers are now focusing on designing buildings that are more eco-friendly in the face of climate change. This paper describes the research conducted to assess the impact of future climate change on energy usage and carbon emissions in a typical supermarket at multiple locations across the UK. Locations that were included in the study were London, Manchester, and Southampton. These three cities were compared against their building performance based on their respective climatic conditions. Based on the UK Climatic Projections (UKCP09), a series of energy modelling simulations which were provided by the Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineers (CIBSE) were conducted on future weather years for this investigation. This investigation ascertains and quantifies the annual energy consumption, carbon emissions, cooling, and heating demand of the selected supermarkets at the three locations under various climatic projections and emission scenarios, which further validates annual temperature rise as a result of climatic variation. The data showed a trend of increasing variations across the UK as one moves southwards, with London and Southampton at the higher side of the spectrum followed by Manchester which has the least variability amongst these three cities. This is the first study which investigates impact of the climate change on the UK supermarkets across different regions by using the real case scenarios.
The efficacy of oral habit modification on headache
Farzaneh Agha-Hosseini,Nafiseh Sheykhbahaei,Iraj Mirzaii-Dizgah,Farzad Fatehi 대한구강악안면외과학회 2017 대한구강악안면외과학회지 Vol.43 No.6
Objectives: Headache is the most common complaint of patients suffering from temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs). Thus, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) examinations maybe necessary in patients with headache. Considering the high prevalence of bruxism and TMDs in patients with headache the effects of conservative TMD treatment on headache should be assessed. Materials and Methods: Patients were questioned about headaches in the past three months. Those responding affirmatively to this question were examined for TMD and bruxism. After the examinations, 219 patients remained in the study and received self-management instructions. Patients were requested to modify oral habits except when eating or sleeping. The degree of pain (visual analogue scale), headache disability index (HDI), frequency of headaches (FH) per month and TMD intensity were evaluated. Results: The median levels of pain, HDI, FH, and TMD intensity were 8, 44, 8, and 7, respectively, before modifying oral habits and decreased to 4, 24, 2, and 3, respectively, after intervention. These decreases were statistically significant. Conclusion: Having patients maintain free space between the teeth and relax muscles can be an efficient method to treat headache and TMD, especially when repeated frequently.

This conceptual paper uses a strategic management approach to assess the unique structure of the business of spectator sport. We argue there is a lack of business competition because franchises are simultaneous co-producers, collaborators, buyers, and suppliers. Consequently, mainstream strategic management frameworks that rely on competitive environments are ill-equipped to evaluate the nuances of spectator sport. In response to these observations, we develop multiple new and modified frameworks, including a spectator sport supply chain that inextricably links the participatory and spectator sport segments. Through this hierarchy of training, participants evolve from paying customers to inputs to production. Spectator sport and its supply chain are then positioned in the center of a revised industry model to develop a theory of spectatoritis, which is a rational explanation for why spectator sport is not only a natural focus for research, but also furnishes considerable promise for the development of unique sport management theory.
Co-existence of History of Mathematics and Education of Mathematics
( Seyed Agha Banihashemi Saeed ) 한국수학교육학회 2012 수학교육 학술지 Vol.2012 No.1
Both history of mathematics and education of mathematics is old subject. The question arises whether these two important subjects can help each other or not. Unfortunately this idea made mathematics society into two groups; one has the idea that history of mathematics can help education of mathematics and other group havsthe idea that not only history of mathematics cannot help education of mathematics but also it makes some confusion. In this article I am going to do some comparison and take some conclusion that history of mathematics can make education of mathematics so active and interesting.
Unusual strain-dependent thermal conductivity modulation of silver nanoflower-polyurethane fibers
Jan, Agha Aamir,Suh, Daewoo,Bae, Seonghyun,Baik, Seunghyun The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 Nanoscale Vol.10 No.37

Thermal management of stretchable and wearable electronic devices is an important issue in enhancing performance, reliability, and human thermal comfort. Here, we constructed a unique experimental setup which investigated the strain-dependent thermal conductivity. The thermal conductivity of flower-shaped silver nanoparticle (silver nanoflower)-polyurethane (Ag-PU) composite fibers was systematically investigated as a function of strain. The strain-dependent temperature distribution of the Joule-heated fiber was measured using an infrared camera, and the thermal conductivity was obtained from the 1-dimensional Fourier's conduction model. There was a monotonic decrease in both lattice and electronic thermal conductivity with stretching at 25 °C. However, there was an initial increase in lattice and total thermal conductivity in the low strain region (@@<@@10%), when the fiber was stretched at 45 °C, although the electronic thermal conductivity decreased monotonically. The softening of the polymer at increased temperatures enhanced Poisson's ratio. Resultantly, the fiber cross-sectional area and radial-direction inter-particle distance between silver nanoflowers decreased. This could increase the thermal transport in conductive fibers by modulating the interfaces between silver nanoflowers and polyurethane. A further stretching decreased the lattice thermal conductivity due to the significantly increased axial distance between silver nanoflowers and the decreased filler fraction. The weft-knitted fabric also demonstrated an increased thermal conductance in the low strain region (≤30%) at 45 °C.
