      • Automatic sleep-wake stages classifier based on ECG

Mourad Adnane,Zhongwei Jiang 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8

Sleep-wake stages discrimination is an important task in the study of cardiorespiratory diseases. Usually this is done by processing physiological signals such as electroencephalogram (EEG) that are, exclusively, recorded in hospitals using polysomnography (PSG) systems. In this paper, we report a simple automatic sleep-wake stages classifier using only RR series obtained from electrocardiogram (ECG). Seven features were extracted from the RR series by three methods, the heart rate variability (HRV), the detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and a proposed windowed detrended fluctuation analysis (WDFA). A subject-specific scheme was used where 20% of a subject’ data was used to train the classifier and 80% for the classification. The method was tested on the MIT/BIH Polysomnographic Database (MITBPD) using support vector machine (SVM). Finally, the sleep efficiency Seff was calculated for evaluation of sleep condition.

Image-based extrusion with realistic surface wrinkles

Anouar Ragragui,Adnane Ouazzani Chahdi,Akram Halli,Khalid Satori 한국CDE학회 2020 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.7 No.1

Per-pixel extrusion mapping is an image-based modeling and rendering technique that can be used in a large variety of computer graphic applications. This technique makes it possible to create geometries without polygonal meshes by extrusion of a basic form stored in a 2D binary image. It is available in four versions: basic extrusion, outward extrusion, beveled extrusion, and chamfered extrusion, and all allow the production of satisfactory results in terms of interactivity or visual quality. The problem is that the extruded surfaces do not exhibit microrelief effects and have a lack of realistic superficial wrinkles. To solve this problem, we proposed in this paper a combination of the per-pixel extrusion mapping and the bump mapping in order to add a microrelief effect to extruded surfaces without changing the basic geometry. For the real-time synchronization between the depth scaling of the microreliefs and the resulting shading, we proposed to use a scale factor to further disturb the normal in a function of depths.

      • Advanced Real time IoT Eco-Driving Assistant System

Jouini, Anis,Cherif, Adnane,Hasnaoui, Salem International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2022 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.22 No.4

Eco-driving of vehicles today presents an advantage that aims to reduce energy consumption and limit CO2 emissions. The application for this option is possible to older vehicles. In this paper, we propose an efficient implementation for IoT (Internet of Things) system for controlling vehicle components that affect the quality of driving (acceleration, braking, clutch, gear change) via Smartphone using Wi-Fi and BLE as communication protocol. The user can see in real-time data from sensors that control driver action on vehicle driving systems such as acceleration, braking, and vehicle shifting through a web interface. Thanks to this communication, the user can control his driving quality and, hence, eco-driving can be achieved

Improvement of Dialysis Dosing Using Big Data Analytics

        Syeda Leena Mumtaz,Abdulrahim Shamayleh,Hussam Alshraideh,Adnane Guella 대한의료정보학회 2023 Healthcare Informatics Research Vol.29 No.2

Objectives: Large amounts of healthcare data are now generated via patient health records, records of diagnosis and treatment, smart devices, and wearables. Extracting insights from such data can transform healthcare from a traditional, symptom-driven practice into precisely personalized medicine. Dialysis treatments generate a vast amount of data, with more than100 parameters that must be regulated for ideal treatment outcomes. When complications occur, understanding electrolyteparameters and predicting their outcomes to deliver the optimal dialysis dosing for each patient is a challenge. This studyfocused on refining dialysis dosing by utilizing emerging data from the growing number of dialysis patients to improve patients’quality of life and well-being. Methods: Exploratory data analysis and data prediction approaches were performed togather insights from patients’ vital electrolytes on how to improve the patients’ dialysis dosing. Four predictive models wereconstructed to predict electrolyte levels through various dialysis parameters. Results: The decision tree model showed excellentperformance and more accurate results than the support vector machine, linear regression, and neural network models. Conclusions: The predictive models identified that pre-dialysis blood urea nitrogen, pre-weight, dry weight, anticoagulation, and sex had the most significant effects on electrolyte concentrations. Such models could fine-tune dialysis dosing levels forthe growing number of dialysis patients to improve each patient’s quality of life, life expectancy, and well-being, and to reducecosts, efforts, and time consumption for both patients and physicians. The study’s results need to be validated on a largerscale.

Study the Impact of Engineering Ventilation on Indoor Air Quality in Hospitals during COVID-19

        Abderrahim Lakhouit,Hanaa Hachimi,Chakib El Mokhi,Adnane Addaim,Mohamed Kaicer 한국대기환경학회 2021 Asian Journal of Atmospheric Environment (AJAE) Vol.15 No.2

This study investigates the importance of using engineering ventilation in healthcare settings, especially during widespread disease outbreaks such as COVID-19. Ventilation can be used to improve indoor air quality in care homes, hospitals, and quarantine locations. In the research, two scenarios of engineering ventilation are simulated using a Fire Dynamic Simulator (FDS), with sulfur hexafluoride employed as the contaminant emitted by the patient in the hospital room. The volume of the room selected for the present study is 60 m3, and the ventilation mode is designed according to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), with 12 air changes per hour and negative pressure. The mean concentration of the pollutants is estimated for both scenarios, giving concentrations in the range of 920 ± 397 to 1260±580 ppm. The estimated indoor air quality (IAQ) values varied from 2.06 to 2.90. According to the obtained results, ventilation plays a critical role in eliminating pollutants, indicating that suitably engineered ventilation strategies can reduce the impact of COVID-19 spread in closed buildings.

Assessment of nutritional status in HIV-positive population

El Alama Hakim,Fatihi Touria,Benmoussa Adnane,Barkat Amina 경희대학교 융합한의과학연구소 2021 Oriental Pharmacy and Experimental Medicine Vol.21 No.1

The objective of this work is to assess the nutritional status of HIV-positive patients and to correlate it to the response to treatment and to certain parameters such as age, gender, socio-economic level, etc. to validate the various tools for assessing the nutritional status of the HIV-positive population. This prospective observational study was extended over a 6-month period and included 220 HIV-positive patients. The nutritional status of each patient was evaluated according to the following tools: exploitation sheet, anthropometric analysis, food survey and calculation of dietary intake, nutritional risk index and nutritional risk stratification. The sex ratio was 52.78, where 144 (65.46%) were women, the average age was 41.60 ± 11.05 years. The evaluation of energy intake showed that 82% of patients had a deficiency in intake relative to nutritional needs. The study population presented vitamin, mineral and micronutrient deficiencies. According to the nutritional risk stratification table we designed, 53% of patients were in grade 7 and 2% were in grade 12. Undernutrition among HIV-positive people was prevalent in the study population, which had a negative impact on the health status and well-being of patients. Correcting undernutrition states would correct anthropometric parameters and biological markers, thus reducing and/or stabilizing viral load and improving CD-ratio.

      • Inertia tensor estimation for a rigid nadir pointing satellite based on star tracker

        Cheriet, Mohammed E.A.,Bellar, Abdellatif,Ghaffour, Mohammed Y.,Adnane, Akram,Mohammed, Mohammed A. SI Techno-Press 2021 Advances in aircraft and spacecraft science Vol.8 No.2

Accurate inertia properties information is important to reach an optimized estimation of attitude and precise control of a rigid spacecraft. Unfortunately, the satellite is succumbing several influences that can affect the inertia properties, such as fuel consumption and sloshing. Thus, this work inspects the use of star tracker to estimate the attitude, angular velocity and moment of inertia for a rigid nadir pointing satellite by employing extended Kalman filter, without any prior information about the nominal inertia matrix. The proposed estimator is applied in nadir pointing mode and without any constant control torque to avoid the attitude tumbling during the estimation phase, which in turn leads to a catastrophic failure of the satellite mission. The simulation results are compared to three other approaches and validated by Monte Carlo method that elucidates the good performance of the suggested approach and demonstrates its efficiency in satellite inertia tensor and attitude estimation even in worst situations.
