Alcohol consumption triggers toxic effect to organs and tissues in the human body. The risks are essentially thought to be related to ethanol content in alcoholic beverages. The identification of ethanol in blood samples requires rapid, minimal sample handling, and non-destructive analysis, such as Raman Spectroscopy. This study aims to apply Raman Spectroscopy for identification of ethanol in blood samples. Silver nanoparticles were synthesized to obtain Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) spectra of blood samples. The SERS spectra were used for Partial Least Square (PLS) for determining ethanol quantitatively. To apply PLS method, 920~820 cm−1 band interval was chosen and the spectral changes of the observed concentrations statistically associated with each other. The blood samples were examined according to this model and the quantity of ethanol was determined as that: first a calibration method was established. A strong relationship was observed between known concentration values and the values obtained by PLS method (R² = 1). Second instead of then, quantities of ethanol in 40 blood samples were predicted according to the calibration method. Quantitative analysis of the ethanol in the blood was done by analyzing the data obtained by Raman spectroscopy and the PLS method.
Compliance with Screening Recommendations According to Breast Cancer Risk Levels in Izmir, Turkey
Acikgoz, Ayla,Ergor, Gul Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.3
Early diagnosis has a major role in improving prognosis of breast cancer. The purpose of this study was to assess the risk status of women 35-69 years of age using risk assessment models and the prevalence of mammography in a community setting. The sample of this cross sectional study consisted of 227 women, 35-69 years of age residing in Izmir, a city located in western region of Turkey. A questionnaire was used to collect data and the Gail and Cuzick-Tyrer models were applied to assess the risk of breast cancer. In this study, 52.7% of women had mammography at least once, and 41.3% of the women over the age of 40 had mammography screening in the last two years. The five years risk for breast cancer was high in 15.8% of women according to the Gail model and ten years risk was high in 21.7% with the Cuzick-Tyrer model. In the present study, the breast cancer risk levels were assessed in a population setting for the first time in Turkey using breast cancer risk level assessment models. Being in 60-69 age group, having low education and not being in menopause were significant risk factors for not having mammography according to logistic regression analysis. Mammography utilization rate was low. Women must be educated about breast cancer screening methods and early diagnosis. The women in the high risk group should be informed on their risk status which may increase their attendance at breast cancer screening.

AC-DC conversion is a necessary for the systems that require DC source. This conversion has been done via rectifiers based on controlled or uncontrolled semiconductor switches. Advances in the power electronics and microprocessor technologies allowed the use of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) rectifiers. In this paper, dq-axis current and DC link voltage of three-phase PWM rectifier are controlled by using type-2 fuzzy neural network (T2FNN) controller. For this aim, a simulation model is built by MATLAB/Simulink software. The model is tested under three different operating conditions. The parameters of T2FNN is updated online by using back-propagation algorithm. The results obtained from both T2FNN and Proportional + Integral + Derivate (PID) controller are given for three operating conditions. The results show that three-phase PWM rectifier using T2FNN provides a superior performance under all operating conditions when compared with PID controller.
DISCONTINUOUS TWO-POINT BOUNDARY VALUE PROBLEMS WITH EIGENPARAMETER IN THE BOUNDARY CONDITIONS
MEHMET ACIKGOZ,Serkan Araci,KAMIL ORUCOGLU,Erdogan Sen 장전수학회 2013 Proceedings of the Jangjeon mathematical society Vol.16 No.2
In the present paper, we deal with discontinuous two-pointboundary value problems with eigenparameter in the boundary condi-tions with transmission conditions at the three points of discontinuities. We obtain asymptotic formulae for the eigenvalues and then we nd thecorresponding eigenfunctions for these eigenvalues.

ANALYTIC CONTINUATION OF WEIGHTED q-GENOCCHI NUMBERS AND POLYNOMIALS
Araci, Serkan,Acikgoz, Mehmet,Gursul, Aynur Korean Mathematical Society 2013 대한수학회논문집 Vol.28 No.3
In the present paper, we analyse analytic continuation of weighted $q$-Genocchi numbers and polynomials. A novel formula for weighted $q$-Genocchi-zeta function $\tilde{\zeta}_{G,q}(s{\mid}{\alpha})$ in terms of nested series of $\tilde{\zeta}_{G,q}(n{\mid}{\alpha})$ is derived. Moreover, we introduce a novel concept of dynamics of the zeros of analytically continued weighted $q$-Genocchi polynomials.

In this paper, we introduce the $q$-analogue of $p$-adic log gamma functions with weight alpha. Moreover, we give a relationship between weighted $p$-adic $q$-log gamma functions and $q$-extension of Genocchi and Euler numbers with weight alpha.

The essential aim of this paper is to define weighted $q$-Hardylittlewood-type maximal operator by means of $p$-adic $q$-invariant distribution on $\mathbb{Z}_p$. Moreover, we give some interesting properties concerning this type maximal operator.

Background: The aim of the study was to identify the relationship between 'Health Belief Model Scale for Cervical Cancer and the Pap Smear Test' subscale scores and demographic/gyneco-obstetric characteristics. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 256 women. Data were obtained using the 'Demographic and Gyneco-Obstetric Identification Form' and the 'Health Belief Model Scale for Cervical Cancer and the Pap Smear Test. Results: The percentage of women who had heard about the Pap test was 77.7 whereas only 32.4% had actually undergone the test. Some 45.7% of the women stated that they did not know the reason for having a Pap test. Women who had obtained a Pap smear test had statistically significantly fewer perceived barriers than those who had never had (p<0.05). Scores with regard to the subscales including 'Benefits of Pap Smear Tests and Health Motivation', 'Perceived Seriousness of Cervical Cancer', 'Susceptibility to Cervical Cancer' and 'Cervical Cancer Health Motivation' did not differ with demographic/gyneco-obstetric characteristics such as womens' educational level, whether or not young age at first marriage, whether or not having family history of female cancer, and whether or not having had a Pap test (p>0.05). Conclusions: Increasing knowledge about benefits of Pap smear tests, increasing motivation to obtain Pap Smear Test and increasing perceived seriousness of cervical cancer could promote attendance at cervical cancer screening. Different strategies are needed for behavioural change. Implementation of educational programmes by nurses in a busy environment could result in a major clinical change, based on the findings of this study.
