        从电影到历史文本:韩国语境下的满族人形象分析 —— 兼论满族人形象的原型

        进入二十一世纪以来,满族人形象频现于韩国历史题材影片之中,而且这些满族人形象大多呈现相似的特征,即丑陋野蛮的外貌和善战凶残的性格。进一步研究发现,满族人形象在电影中被如此再现并不是孤立现象,追溯韩国历史文本,也有很多类似的满族人形象的叙述,换言之,这类满族人形象在韩国叙述传统中是纵向的、一脉相承的。原型理论视域下,这类一脉相承的满族人形象,是韩民族对满族人的集体认知的具体呈现。本文将以四部较有代表性的历史题材电影为切入点,分析满族人的形象特征,并结合韩国历史文本中的满族人形象,从历时性角度考察满族人形象的一致性。尝试运用原型理论,探寻满族人形象的原型,进一步论证韩国语境中的文学作品及影视创作中的满族人形象,都是“夷狄”原型在不同时期艺术创作中的置换变形。

      • A novel design method for improving collapse resistances of multi-story steel frames with unequal spans using steel braces

        The bearing capacities resisted by the two-bay beams of multi-story planar frames with unequal spans under column removal scenarios differ considerably owing to the asymmetric stress on the left and right beams connected to the failed column and cause the potential for beams with larger span-to-depth ratios to be unable to exert effectively, which is disadvantageous for resisting the vertical load in unequal-span frame structures. To address this problem, the structural measure of adding braces to the weak bays of multi-story unequal-span frames was proposed, with the objective of achieving a coordinated stress state in two-bay beams with unequal spans, thereby improving the collapse resistance of unequal-span frame structures. Before conducting the numerical simulation, the modeling methods were verified by previous experimental results of two multi-story planar frames with and without steel braces. Thereafter, the effects of the tensile and compressive braces on the collapse behavior of the frame structures were elucidated. Then, based on the mechanical action laws of the braces throughout the collapse process, a detailed design method for improving the collapse resistance of unequal-span frame structures was proposed. Finally, the proposed design method was verified by using sufficient example models, and the results demonstrated that the design method has good application prospects and high practical value.

        The Impact of Trade Characteristics on Stock Return Volatility: Evidence from the Australian Stock Exchange

        This study examines the impact of trade characteristics on stock return volatility. Using a sample of transaction data from the Australian Stock Exchange, the trading frequency of medium sized trades is found to have the greatest impact on stock re-turn volatility. The result lends support to the stealth trading hypothesis (Barclay and Warner, 1993). After controlling for trading frequency, the average trade size is found to have little explanatory power on price volatility. Stock return volatility is more sensitive to buyer-initiated trades than seller-initiated trades, especially so for buyer-initiated medium sized trades. This finding is consistent with the assertion that information effects are stronger for buys than for sells (Chan and Lakonishok, 1993).

        The Impact of Political Ties and Power Distance on CEO Dismissal within the Chinese Context

        CEO 해임은 회사 성과에 중대한 영향을 미친다는 점에서 가장 중요한 의사결정 중 하나이다. 권력순환이론(Power circulation theory)에 따르면 권력은 CEO 해임에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 이 이론을 바탕으로 본 연구는 중국 상황에서 정치적 연계와 권력 거리가 CEO 해임에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 본 연구는 두 가지 측면에서 기존 연구를 확대하고 있다. 즉 권력순환이론에서 도출된 권력의 두 가지 측면인 정치적 연계와 권력 거리 문화 차원이 중국 상황에서 중국기업의 CEO 해임에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지 분석하였다. 본 연구는 정치적 연계가 높거나 권력거리가 높은 지역일수록 중국에서 CEO 해임 가능성은 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 정치적 연계의 종류에 따라 CEO 해임에 미치는 영향력이 차이가 발견되었는데 지역정부와의 정치적 연계가 중앙정부와의 정치연계보다 CEO 해임 에 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. CEO dismissal is one of the most important decisions in that it critically impacts firm performance. According to the theoretical lens of power circulation theory, power determines the rate of CEO dismissal. Drawing on this theory, this study investigates the impact of political ties and power distance on CEO dismissal within the Chinese context. The current article advances existing research and theory by addressing these two underexplored areas, namely, power circulation theory-related factors such as political ties and power distance, as determinants of CEO dismissal within the Chinese context. Our results display that the two power factors, political ties and power distance, are essential determinants of CEO dismissal in China. Specifically, we find that these two factors decrease the likelihood of CEO dismissal in China. This study also finds that local political ties have a more significant impact on CEO dismissal than do central political ties.

        A Review on Microbial Decaffeination

        Exclusive exposure of caffeine might bring some adverse effects to human health, and cause some risks to environment. Microbial decaffeination might be a new alternative approach because of its high specificity and efficiency. Many studies revealed that several microorganisms can degrade caffeine, including genera Alcaligenes,Rhodococcus, Klebsiella, Acinetobacter, Enterobacter, Stenotrophomonas and Pseudomonas. Biodegradation of caffeine can be significantly influenced by temperature, pH, aeration rate and initial caffeine concentration of the incubation. There are two main pathways of caffeine biodegradation: C-8 oxidation and N-demethylation, while N-demethylation is the general catabolism pathway in bacteria. Application of microbial decaffeination has also been discussed in this review.

        Expression pattern of meiosis associated SYCP family members during germline development in chickens.

        <P>Synaptonemal complexes (SCs) are associated with synapsis of homologous chromosomes, chiasmata distribution, recombination and segregation of chromosomes during the extended prophase of meiosis I. Three isoforms of SC proteins, SYCP1, SYCP2 and SYCP3, were identified as the structural proteins of SCs, and may be involved in the assembly and disassembly of SCs. The aim of this present study is to determine the pattern of expression of chicken homologues of SYCP family members during ovarian and testicular development. Protein sequence analysis using CLUSTAL X revealed that the sequences and potential phosphorylation sites of chicken SYCP family proteins were highly conserved with mammalian homologues of SYCP family proteins. Quantitative real-time-PCR and in situ hybridisation analysis revealed that chicken SYCP family members were differentially expressed during ovarian and testicular development. During ovarian development, all chicken SYCP family members were detected in primordial germ cells (PGCs) until embryonic day (E) 8.0; the expression continued in proliferating pre-meiotic oogonia until E15.5 and was upregulated in meiotic prophase I oocytes until hatching. After hatching, all chicken SYCP family members were detected at a low level until 24-weeks-old. During testicular development, all chicken SYCP family members were detected in PGCs until E13.0; the expression continued in pro-spermatogonia and proliferating spermatogonia for up to 8 weeks, and was upregulated in meiotic prophase I spermatocytes in adults. Our data demonstrate the expression pattern of meiosis associated SYCP family members during ovarian and testicular development in chickens.</P>

        Expression Patterns of Germ Cell-specific Phosducin-like 2 during Testicular and Ovarian Development in Chickens

        Phosducin (PDC) is a photoreceptor cell-specific protein that is phosphorylated by cyclic nucleotide-dependent protein kinase. PDC and PDC-like proteins (PDCL, PDCL2, and PDCL3) are members of a conserved family of small thioredoxin-like proteins that modulate the ${\beta}$- and ${\gamma}$-subunits of G-proteins. In mammals, Pdc, Pdcl, and Pdcl3 genes show ubiquitous expression; however, Pdcl2 gene expression is limited to the testis and ovary. The aim of the present study was to examine the expression patterns of chicken Pdcl2 (cPdcl2) during testicular and ovarian development. Protein sequence comparisons performed using the CLUSTAL X program revealed that the amino acid sequences and potential phosphorylation sites of cPDCL2 and mammalian PDCL2 proteins were highly conserved. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed that cPdcl2 was differentially expressed in the testis and ovary. Specifically, cPdcl2 expression was detected at low levels in the ovary at all time points. In the testis, cPdcl2 expression was detected at low levels until 5 weeks of age. At 8 weeks of age, however, cPdcl2 showed increased expression levels in the testis. Using in situ hybridization, we detected high levels of cPdcl2 expression in the testis, particularly in the spermatocytes and round spermatids. In summary, our data describe expression patterns of germ cell-specific Pdcl2 during testicular and ovarian development in chickens.

        Follistatin N terminus differentially regulates muscle size and fat in vivo

        Delivery of follistatin (FST) represents a promising strategy for both muscular dystrophies and diabetes, as FST is a robust antagonist of myostatin and activin, which are critical regulators of skeletal muscle and adipose tissues. FST is a multi-domain protein, and deciphering the function of different domains will facilitate novel designs for FST-based therapy. Our study aims to investigate the role of the N-terminal domain (ND) of FST in regulating muscle and fat mass in vivo. Different FST constructs were created and packaged into the adeno-associated viral vector (AAV). Overexpression of wild-type FST in normal mice greatly increased muscle mass while decreasing fat accumulation, whereas overexpression of an N terminus mutant or N terminusdeleted FST had no effect on muscle mass but moderately decreased fat mass. In contrast, FST-I-I containing the complete N terminus and double domain I without domain II and III had no effect on fat but increased skeletal muscle mass. The effects of different constructs on differentiated C2C12 myotubes were consistent with the in vivo finding. We hypothesized that ND was critical for myostatin blockade, mediating the increase in muscle mass, and was less pivotal for activin binding, which accounts for the decrease in the fat tissue. An in vitro TGF-beta1-responsive reporter assay revealed that FST-I-I and N terminus-mutated or -deleted FST showed differential responses to blockade of activin and myostatin. Our study provided direct in vivo evidence for a role of the ND of FST, shedding light on future potential molecular designs for FST-based gene therapy.

      • The Effects of CEO Characteristics and Legitimacy on Venture Capital Financing in China’s P2P Lending Industry

        This paper examines that the role of founder, human capital, and legitimacy in financing from venture capital in China’s P2P Lending industry. Explaining how entrepreneurs overcome information asymmetry between themselves and potential investors to obtain financing is an important issue for entrepreneurship research. We use signaling theory to explain how new ventures effectively signal future prospects to acquire external resources. Based on a sample of 2,388 new ventures of China’s P2P Lending industry, we found that the status of founder-CEO, human capital of CEO, and legitimacy for third-party signaling are related to acquisition of venture capital funding. This result suggests that new ventures can use multiple ways of signal and legitimacy activities to get venture capital financing.

        A Parallel Combinatory OFDM System with Weighted Phase Subcarriers

        Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is usually regarded as a spectral efficient multicarrier modulation technique, yet it suffers from a high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) problem. Among all the existing PAPR reduction techniques in OFDM systems, side information based PAPR reduction techniques such as partial transmit sequence (PTS) and selective mapping (SLM) schemes, have attracted the most attention. However, the transmission of side information results in somewhat spectral loss and this does not significantly improve the bit error rate (BER) performance. Parallel combinatory (PC) OFDM yields higher spectral efficiency (SE) and better BER performance on Gaussian channels, while is a little but not obvious PAPR improvement over the ordinary OFDM system. This investigation aimed to design a `perfect` OFDM system. We introduce the side information to rotate the subcarrier phases of our novel PC-OFDM system structure, and call this new system the SIPC(Side information based Parallel Combinatory)-OFDM system. The proposed system achieves better PAPR and SE performance. In addition, considering the tradeoff of system parameters, the proposed system also has the properties of a higher BER.
