This study was performed to compare the efficacy between a DNA chip method and a Hybrid-Capture II assay (HC-II) for detecting human papillomavirus in patients with intraepithelial lesions of the uterine cervix. From May, 2005, to June, 2006, 192 patients with abnormal colposcopic findings received cervical cytology, HC-II and HPV DNA chip tests, and colposcopic biopsy or conization. We compared the results of HC-II and HPV DNA chip in conjunction with liquid based cervical cytology (LBCC) and confirmed the results of biopsy or conization. The sensitivity of the HPV DNA chip test was higher than HC-II or LBCC. The HPV DNA chip in conjunction with LBCC showed higher sensitivity than any single method and higher sensitivity than HC-II with LBCC. We confirmed that the HPV DNA chip test was more sensitive for detecting HPV in cervical lesions than HC-II, and that it would provide more useful clinical information about HPV type and its multiple infections.

Drought is a slow-varying natural hazard that is characterized by various factors such that reliable drought forecasting along with uncertainties estimation has been a major issue. In this study, we proposed a stochastic simulation technique based scheme for providing a set of drought scenarios. More specifically, this study utilized a nonstationary Hidden markov model that allows us to include predictors such as climate state variables and global climate model's outputs. The simulated rainfall scenarios were then used to generate the well-known meteorological drought indices such as SPI, PDSI and PN for the three dam watersheds in South Korea. It was found that the proposed modeling scheme showed a capability of effectively reproducing key statistics of the observed rainfall. In addition, the simulated drought indices were generally well correlated with that of the observed.

In this study, the mesh trimming scheme for bilinear element is introduced. Using finite element method to solve the forming process of the industrial products. the mesh trimming must be implemented. In trimming the bilinear elements. the new points are located on the trimming line. In order to improve the quality of mesh. the points are moved according to three schemes. 몬테칼로 시뮬레이션을 이용한 소동물 전용 양전자방출단층시스템의 성능 향상 연구

본 연구의 목적은 몬테칼로 모사방법을 이용하여 소동물 전용 양전자방출단층촬영 시스템의 성능향상 연구를 하는 것이다. 이 연구에서 제안한 소 동물 전용 양전자방출단층촬영 시스템은 모듈 내 섬광체 수를 1~8개로 구성하여 성능 향상 여부를 평가하였다. GATE(Geant 4 application for tomography emission) 몬테칼로 시뮬레이션 코드를 이용하였으며 시뮬레이션 결과를 획득하여 동시계수 측정된 좌표값을 이용하여 민감도 및 사이노그램을 획득하였다. 모듈 내 섬광체 수가 적을수록 모듈 별 틈새가 줄어들어 민감도가 향상되는 결과를 보였으며, 사이노그램 결과에서도 불완전한 데이터(missing data)가 발생하지 않는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이 연구 결과는 소동물 전용 양전자방출단층촬영 시스템의 성능 개선을 위한 새로운 접근법을 제시한다. This study is performed simulations to design the detector module with crystal array by Monte Carlo simulation. For this purpose, a small animal PET scanner, employing module with 1∼8 crystal array discrimination scheme, was designed. The detector module with crystal array of the designed PET detector was simulated using the Monte Carlo code GATE(Geant4 Application for Tomographic Emission). The detector is enough compensation for the loss of data in sinogram due to gaps between modules. The results showed that the high sensitivity and effectively reduced the problem about the missing data were greatly improved by using the detector module with 1 crystal array.

N/A Background: Transdermal fentanyl patch (TDFP) is a simple, noninvasive analgesic with continuous effect. The aim of this study was to evaluate the postoperative analgesic effect of TDFP. Methods: Sixty healthy patients undergoing cesarean section were divided into 3 groups. Postoperative pain was controlled with different methods; Group I: application of TDFP-25 pg/hr, Group II: intra- muscular injection of ketoprofen; Group III: continuous epidural block. Pain scores (numerical rating scale, NRS), number of patients who needed additive ketoprofen injections and side effects were recorded at 8, 20, 32, 44 hours postoperatively. Results: There was no significanant difference in pain score between Group I and Group II. The numbers of patients who need additive ketoprofen injections were lower in group I than group II. Pruritis (25%), nausea/vomiting (10%), leg numbness (40%) was experienced in group III, but not in Group I & II. Conclusions: TDFP-25 pg/hr for postoperative pain control is simpler and more convinient than intramuscular injection of analgesics.

This paper presents practical results for the estimation of vibration level inside a powertrain based on the rigid body theory and measurement. The vibration level of inside powertrain has been used for the calculation of excitation force of an engine indirectly. However it was difficult to estimate or measure the vibration level inside of a powertrain when a powertrain works on the driving condition of a vehicle. To do this work, the rigid body theory is employed. At the first, the vibration on the surface of a powertrain is measured and its results are secondly used for the estimation the vibration level inside of powertrain together with rigid body theory. Also did research on how to decrease the error rate when the rigid body theory is applied. This method is successfully applied to the estimation of the vibration level on arbitrary point of powertrain on the driving condition at the road.
