Objectives : To evaluate the analgesic effect of electroacupuncture on Choksamni (ST36) in the collagen-induced arthritis rats and investigate the role played by serotonergic receptor subtypes $(5-HT_{1A},\;5-HT_{1B},\;5-HT_4)$ in the antinociceptive effect of electroacupuncture in the thermal hyperalgesia test. Methods : Immunization of male Sprague-Dawley rats with bovine type II collagen emulsified in incomplete Freund's adjuvant, followed by booster injection 14 days later induced collagen-induced arthritis (CIA). The thermal hyperalgesia was evaluated weekly with tail flick latency (TFL). In the fourth week after first immunization. EA stimulation (2Hz, 0.07mA, 0.3ms) was delivered into Choksamni for 20 minutes. We measured the analgesic effect of EA with TFL afer intraperitoneal injection of normal saline, WAYl00635, SB216641 and GR125487. Results : TFLs were gradually decreased in CIA as time elapsed after the immunization of arthrogenic collagen and the maximum value was reached from third to fifth week. EA stimulation on ST36 inhibited chronic inflammatory pain induced by CIA. The analgesic effect of EA was inhibited by pretreatment of $5-HT_{1A}$. antagonist (WAYl00635), $5-HT_{1B}$ antagonist (SB216641) and $5-HT_4$ antagonist (GR125487). Conclusion : Electroacupuncture has the analgesic effect on chronic inflammatory pain and its mechanism was mediated by $5-HT_{1A}$, $5-HT_{1B}$ and $5-HT_4$.

To develope concrete panels suitable for the snow melting system based on renewable energy or unused temperature difference energy, highly thermal conductive concrete panels using silica stones were made. Through the comparative small-scale experiment between the general concrete panel and the highly thermal conductive concrete panel using the low temperature heat source device simulating the unused temperature difference energy, we verified the possibility of the highly thermal conductive concrete panel to maximize efficiency of snow melting system using low temperature heat source.

Objective : The aim of this study was to review systemically clinical trials on the effectiveness and safety of herbal medicines in the treatment of osteoarthritis. Methods : Computerized literature searches were carried out on seven electronic databases, and hand-searching on some chinese medical journals in library of Kyung Hee Medical Center. Trial data were extracted in a standardized, predefined manner and assessed independently. Results : 1. Thirty reports of clinical trials and two reports of meta-analyses concerning herbal medicine were collected and reviewed. Among these reports three medical herbs were applied as topical medicine and others as internal medicine. 2. The western studies established NSAIDs or placebo as their control group. Five chinese reports established formulated herb pill(Ruanshnagshenjin pill) as their control group and Six did not establish a control group at all. 3. ACR was the most highly used diagnostic criteria in the western studies while the Chinese used their official criteria established by their government or the criteria of their text books. 4. 20 reports chose the Lequesne functional index, SHAQ, WOMAC OA index, AIMS, and their own unique scoring system as the criteria of analysing the effect. Others chose clinical symptoms, articular functions, and lab finding as their criteria. 5. 7 single herbs and 19 formulated herbs were studied. Among the formulated herbs, Achyranthes japonica was studied in 10 of the studies and Angelica gigantis Radix in 8, making them the most often studied herbs among the studies.
Does Retaining Ligament Exist in the Neck?

본 연구의 목적은 조직염색을 통해 목가로주름의 특징을 살펴보고 특히 탄력 및 아교섬유의 조직학적 특성을 살펴보는 것이다. 한국인 성인 신선 시신 2구에서 목가로주름이 위치한 방패연골의 후두융기 높이에서 가장 가쪽과 안쪽의 조직표본을 채취하였다. 채취한 표본은 Hematoxylin and eosin (HE) 및 Masson’s Trichrome으로 염색하였다. 염색된 표본에서는 표피에 각질화가 관찰되었고 다른 피부와 마찬가지로 진피층에 많은 아교섬유가 관찰되었다. 특히 진피의 아교섬유 사이에는 짧고 구불구불한 형태의 탄력섬유가 많이 관찰되었다. 이 탄력섬유는 에오신으로 염색되지 않았으며 회색으로 관찰되었다. 이 긴 인대로 추정되는 구조는 진피에서 관찰되었으며, Masson’s Trichrome 염색 시 진한 붉은 색으로 염색되었다. 이러한 결과는 인대로 추정되는 구조가 전형적인 인대도 일반적인 민무늬근도 아님을 시사한다. 본 연구에서는 목근막얕은층에서 기원하는 인대와 비슷한 구조를 조직염색을 통해 관찰하였으며, 이를 통해 목가로주름 형성에 대한 기전을 이해하는 데 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 생각한다. The goal of this study was to determine the characteristics of the horizontal cervical wrinkle and to investigate histological feature, especially with respect to elastin and collagen fiber. Histologic sample were harvested from two fresh adult cadavers where the cervical wrinkle is in the neck. The tissue sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) or Masson’s Trichrome. In sections of neck skin, keratinization was observed in the epidermis, and many collagen fibers were observed in the dermis layer as in other skin. Specifically, a lot of short and curly elastic fiber were observed between the collagen fibers in the dermis. These elastic fibers were not stained with eosin and observed in gray. This long ligament-like structures were observed in the dermis. The ligament-like structures were stained with dark red by trichrome. These results indicate that these ligament-like structures are neither typical ligament nor typical smooth muscles. The results obtained from present study showed a ligamentous structure originating from the fascial layer (platysma muscle or investing layer). The results may help to understand the reasons about the formation of horizontal cervical wrinkle.

This study evaluated natural lighting performance of Kwangajeong, the traditional housing in South Korea. Window-to-wall ratios were calculated by using the drawing documents. Daylighting factors were determined by field measurement. The results indicate that daylighting factor of the Kwangajeong is slightly low comparing present sustainable building design guide in South Korea even though the window-to-wall ratios are relatively high. It is thought that the relatively low daylighting factor are resulted by the low transmittance of Changhoji, the paper used on windows and Cheoma, eaves of the roof.

In this study, we examined the standards for indoor fine dust concentration and investigate the design of an indoor air conditioning system that could remove indoor fine dust. Based on contents taken from the Nara Market Site, we collected, organized, and analyzed data on air purifiers and air circulators (the representative indoor air quality control systems). Additionally, we also investigated and analyzed the current status and statistics of the maintenance of school air quality control systems in Gyeonggi-Do. According to the current status of maintenance for school air quality management systems among 397 schools in Gyeonggi-do, this study found that air quality control measures were applied the most often in elementary schools, and that the MERV15 grade filter was used the most.
