Estimating Heterogeneous Customer Arrivals to a Large Retail store

This paper considers a Bayesian Poisson model for multivariate count data using multiplicative rates. More specifically we compose the parameter for overall arrival rates by the product of two parameters, a common effect and an individual effect. The common effect is composed of autoregressive evolution of the parameter, which allows for analysis on seasonal effects on all multivariate time series. In addition, analysis on individual effects allows the researcher to differentiate the time series by whatevercharacterization of their choice. This type of model allows the researcher to specifically analyze two different forms of effects separately and produce a more robust result. We illustrate a simple MCMC generation combined with a Gibbs sampler step in estimating the posterior joint distribution of all parameters in the model. On the whole, the model presented in this study is an intuitive model which may handle complicated problems, and we highlight the properties and possible applications of the model with an example, analyzing real time series data involving customer arrivals to a large retail store.

본 연구는 한국의 사회적경제 조직을 대상으로 공급망 협력이 성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 협력은 대다수 국내 사회적경제 조직이 가지고 있는 신생과 소규모의 불리함을 극복할 수 있는 효과적인 수단으로 알려져 있다. 그러나 대부분의 사회적경제 조직에 관한 연구들은 협력과 성과 간의 관계를 개념적으로 다루는데 그치고 있다. 따라서 우리는 사회적경제 조직의 공급망 협력 활동이 성과에 미치는 영향을 구체적으로 실증하고자 했다. 이를 위해 공급망 협력을 협력의 문화와 협력의 실행, 두 단계로 구조로 나누고, 이 구조를 통해 사회적경제 조직의 협력이 성과를 향상시킬 수 있다는 연구모형을 수립하였다. 연구모형의 검증을 위해 99개의 사회적경제 조직을 대상으로 한 설문을 실시하고 이를 바탕으로 PLS구조방정식 분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과 사회적경제 조직의 협력의 문화가 협력의 실행에 정(+)의 영향을 주고, 협력의 실행이 공급망성과에 정(+)의 영향을 준다는 결론을 도출할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 사회적경제 조직의 협력이 성과에 미치는 영향을 공급망 이론을 바탕으로 실증했다는 점과, 공급망 이론의 적용 범위를 시장경제 조직을 넘어 사회적경제 조직까지 확장했다는 의의를 가진다. This study investigates the impact of supply chain collaboration on performance in social economy in Korea. Collaboration is an effective method to overcome the disadvantages of newness and smallness of domestic social economy organizations. Nevertheless, most research on social economy examined conceptual relationship between collaboration and performance. Hence, this study focuses on empirically demonstrating the relationship between supply chain collaboration and performance in social economy. We identify two steps of supply chain collaboration structure, i.e., collaboration culture and collaboration implementation, and establish a research model to analyze the impact of collaboration of social economy organization on performance. Based on responses to a survey of 99 social economy organizations, we test the hypotheses in the theoretical model using PLS structural equation modeling. The result shows that both the effect of collaboration culture on collaboration implementation and the effect of collaboration implementation on performance are significant. This study contributes to the social economy literature by empirically investigating the impact of collaboration in social economy organizations on performance based on supply chain theories, and by expanding the application scope of supply chain theories to social economy organizations.

최근 한국의 협동조합은 양적으로 크게 성장하고 있으나, 질적인 면에서는 많은 어려움을 겪고 있다. 한국의 협동조합들이 이 같은 어려움을 겪는 중요한 이유 중 하나는 사업체로서의 협동조합에 대한 이해가 부족한 것이다. 이 같은 관점에서 지금은 경영학 관점에서 협동조합을 이해하고 연구하는 것이 필요한 시점이다. 우리는 특히 공급사슬관리의 관점에서 협동조합 분석을 시도하였는데, 공급사슬관리의 연구 분야에서 중요하게 다루어지고 있는 공급사슬의 협력이 한국의 협동조합 공급사슬에서 어떻게 나타나고 있는지를 밝히고자 하였다. 구체적으로 협동조합 원칙의 이해와 실천이 공급사슬의 협력의 실행에 영향을 주는지, 또 이러한 협력의 실행이 실제 협동조합의 공급사슬 성과에 영향을 미치는지에 대한 답을 구하고자 하였다. 한국의 협동조합들을 대상으로 한 실증연구 결과, 협동조합의 공급사슬 협력은 협동조합의 원칙을 기반으로 하는 협력적 문화와 실제 협력의 실행, 두 단계로 이루어진다는 점을 밝혔고, 이러한 공급사슬 협력의 실행이 협동조합의 성과에 영향을 준다는 결과를 얻었다. In recent years, there has been a dramatic growth in the number of co-operatives in Korea. However, with this rapid expansion of co-operatives, they are also experiencing difficulties in qualitative aspects. One of the reasons for these difficulties is the lack of a business perspective in managing the co-operatives. Therefore, it is important and timely to understand and study co-operatives from a business administrative perspective. By focusing on analyzing co-operatives from the perspective of supply chain management, we investigate the role of collaboration in the supply chain of co-operatives in Korea. In particular, we study the impact of understanding and implementing the principles of co-operatives on the degree of collaboration practice and the performance of co-operative supply chains. Based on an empirical study using a sample of co-operatives in Korea, we show that the drivers of collaboration in co-operative supply chains consist of two stages of components: collaborative culture based on the principles of co-operatives and the actual practice of collaboration. We also show that the practice of collaboration affects the supply chain performance of co-operatives.
