The finite element analysis for the tubular alumina liner which was shrink-fitted into a heat treated high speed steel (HSS) sleeve and subjected to high inner pressure and high temperature was performed. The parameters for the analysis were the interference between the alumina and the HSS, the temperature, the inner pressure, the coefficient of friction between the alumina and the HSS, and the taper at the sleeve ends. From the analysis, it was found that the tensile hoop stresses were decreased when the end parts of the HSS sleeve were tapered and the tensile stresses were decreased as the coefficient of friction between the alumina and the HSS was decreased. Also it was found that the alumina might be used as the structural liner for high pressure and high temperature when it was shrink-fitted into a heat treated HSS sleeve.

The micromechanical approach was used to investigate the interfacial behavior of a unidirectional composite under transverse loading. Representative volume elements (RVE) for the analysis were composed of regular fiber arrays (square and hexagonal arrays). The finite element analysis was performed to evaluate the effective material properties of a carbon/epoxy composite and to analyze the normal, tangential and shear strains at the interface. The microstructural fiber arrangement would have a great influence on interfacial strain distributions while it little affects the effective material properties. The RVE with random fiber arrays will be considered in the future work.

The uniformity of jetting performance for multi-nozzle inkjet printheads is a key factor in industrial inkjet technology. Differences in flight time of droplets ejected from the different nozzles can result in serious printing defects and should be minimized for uniform jetting performance. In this study, the effects of waveform design on flight time error were investigated by analyzing the flight time of droplets ejected from 256 nozzles at diverse waveform conditions with an industrial multi-nozzle piezo inkjet printhead. It was found that the pulse width has a strong influence on the cross-talk and residual pressure. Experimental results show that a longer pulse width could effectively reduce the flight time error by suppressing the cross-talk and residual pressure.

As automotive industry become quieter, the interest in the wiper is increasing. The wiper system of a car is carried out the wiping of the windshield for securing a clear view. The most of complaints of wiper concern operation noise. The noise operation can be classified into three main categories namely, chattering, reversal vibration and squeal noise. In this paper, we focus on reversal vibration mainly occurred by reversal action. We use commercial software ANSYS for finite element analysis (FEA). The real behavior of wiper blade was observed by high speed camera (HSC). To reduce operation noise caused by reversal vibration, we use design of experiment (DOE) method for important variables such as friction coefficient, input force and damping coefficient.
