The IEA Wind agreement for co-operation in the R&D of wind energy system was founded in 1974. The Korea has been a contracting party to the IEA wind energy program since 2003. The contracting parties are designated by the 20 member countries and the EC. IEA Wind agreement is for member countries to exchange information, knowledge and to organize international collaboration on R&D projects called Taskes and Annexes. The Executive Committee approves and controls the R&D Tasks, and its meetings are held twice a year. This paper describes the status of current 7 implementing Tasks that were reported to the recent 57th Executive Committee meeting this year in Brussels, Belgium.
5MW급 해상풍력발전시스템용 Suction Caisson 하부구조물 적합성 연구

Foundation plays an important role in the offshore wind turbine system. Different from conventional foundations, the suction caisson is proven to be economical and reliable. In this work, three-dimensional finite element method is used to check the suitability of suction caisson foundation. NREL 5MW wind turbine is chosen as a baseline model in our simulation. The maximum overturning moment and vertical load at the mudline are calculated using FAST and Bladed. Meanwhile the soil-structure interaction response from our simulation is also compared with the experiment data from Oxford university. The design parameter such as caisson length, diameter of skirt and spacing of multipod are investigated. Accordingly based on these parameters suggestions are given to use suction caisson foundations more efficiently.

As the needs of wind energy increase, the more sites for the wind farm are required. As a part of searching for the prominent wind farm site, specially for offshore wind farm, we chose 4 sites along the southern part seashore of JeonNam province based on the analysis of the data gathered by meteorological observatory ud have gathered wind data for more than a year by use of 40m Met masts installed in the representative locations, ie. small islands of 4 different bay area. The siting for the Met masts were very limited by the geographical circumstances The wind data of those areas show a little lower annual average wind speeds, for the wind farm development, of 4m/s to 5.5m/s at the height of 40m above the ground level of the respective islands. The detail figures of one year wind data of those area are presented in this report.

POSTECH Graduate School of Wind Energy is trying to upgrade the PMSG used for Unison U50 to 900 kW class. Intensive optimization efforts are carried out the reduce the axial size and total weight of the generator while increasing the rated output to 900 kW. The generator features 3.32m stator inner radius, 671mm stator length, 84 pole, 25 rated rpm and 31.6kN/m² shear force density. To reduce the gross weight, the stronger magnetic material is applied with optimal magnet size resulting lowest cogging torque. Also, instead of stator skewing the stator, the magnet position along the circumference is optimized to further reduce the cogging torque. This scheme eliminates the stator skewing procedure and may enhance the productivity. This method also reduces the total harmonic distortion. In this report, upgrade method, no-load line to line voltage and phase voltage, cogging torque, loss calculations and thermal analysis are presented.

포항공과대학교의 포항풍력에너지연구소(PoWER Center)가 개발에 참여했던 750 kW급 직결형 국산화 풍력발전 시스템의 상용화를 추진하기 위한 출력성능 및 하중 측정을 통한 실증연구가 대관령의 풍력실증단지에서 수행되었다. IEC 61400-13의 규격을 기준으로 수행된 하중 측정의 일환으로 스트레인 게이지의 기계적 하중에 대한 외부 하중부가에 의한 기계적 보정이 추진되었다. 기계적 보정의 수행 중 일부스트레인 게이지가 단락되는 사고가 발생하였으나 비교보정을 통하여 기계적 보정작업을 완수할 수 있었다. 본 논문에서는 외부 하중부가에 의한 기계적 하중의 보정절차를 소개하고, 수행된 기계적 보정시험 과정에 대해 상세히 설명하며 기계적 보정의 결과를 보고한다.

Unison의 U50 풍력발전기는 실증실험을 거쳐서 상용화 되어 시장에 제품으로 나와 있다. U50에 사용되는 영구자석 동기발전기는 Stator 내경 3.32 m 로 84극을 가지고 있으며 정격 25 rpm으로 운전되는 직접구동형이다. 직접구동형 발전기는 Gearbox 가 불필요한 반면에 높은 torque로 인해서 발전기가 무거운 단점이 있다. 기존의 U50 에 사용되는 발전기는 지지 구조물까지 포함할 경우 총중량이 약 20톤 이상이다. 발전기의 중량을 줄이고 경량화 시키기 위하여 slot에 들어가는 Ampere turn을 증가시키고 turn 수를 증가시켜서 기존과 유사한 전압, 전류, 출력을 유지하면서 축방향 Stator 길이를 감소시킨 최적화 모델에 대한 설계에 대하셔 연구를 진행하였으며 이 보고에서는 그 결과와 절차에 대해서 요약한다.

Cogging Torque is induced by the magnetic attraction between the rotor mounted permanent magnet(PM) and the stator teeth. This torque is an unwanted effect causing shaft vibration, noises, metal fatigues and increased stator length. A variety of techniques exist to reduce the cogging torque of PM generator. Even though the cogging torque can be vanished by skewing the stator slots by one slot pitch or rotor magnets, manufacturing cost becomes high due to the complicated structure and increased material costs. This paper introduces a new cogging torque reduction technique for PM generators that adjusts the azimuthal positions of the magnets along the circumference. A 900 kW class PMSG model is simulated using a three dimensional finite element method and the resulting cogging torques is analyzed using the Maxwell tensor stress tensor. Using the 3D simulation, the end contribution of the cogging torque is accurately calculated.
