GPS 수신기는 잡음이 섞인 의사거리와 도플러 측정값으로부터 사용자의 위치, 속도 및 시간을 결정하여야 한다. GPS 수신기는 일반적으로 최소자승법(Least Square Method)을 사용한다. 칼만필터(Kalman Filter)는 시스템의 동적특성과 시스템 잡음의 확률적 특성을 이용하는 최적 예측기로 알려져 있다. 본 논문에서는 GPS 수신기를 위한 8차 칼만 필터를 설계하고, 필터의 계산 부담을 줄이고 안정도를 향상시키기 위해 UD칼만필터, Steady-state 칼만필터, Schmidt 칼만필터 등의 기법들을 적용하였다. 설계된 필터의 성능을 실제 수신기에 구현하여 검증하고 결과를 분석하였다. Determination of position, velocity and time from the satellite signals is the central problem of the GPS receiver. Generally, GPS receiver uses least square method for navigation filter algorithm. The Kalman filter has known as an optimal linear estimator, which uses the knowledge of the system dynamics and the statistical characteristics of the system noises and measurement error. In this paper, we design an 8 state Kalman filter for GPS navigation and employ some techniques that can reduce computational burden, increase numerical stability, and improve filtering performance. To show its effectiveness, the designed filter is implemented in a GPS receiver and tested in real-time.

Vehicle Monitoring System which can efficiently control and manage the resources like vehicles, cargos and services is required in many transportation related areas like ITS /IVHS. GPS or DGPS is widely used in determining the vehicle location in service. DGPS can glove more accurate position than GPS, but it needs an additional wireless communication link for DGPS correction reception from the DGPS reference station. But, in some applications lire tall or truck monitoring system, the user doesn't need to know the his accurate position. The DGPS correction can be performed in the monitoring station based on the informations from the GPS receiver in the user vehicle and then the monitor station can locate vehicle position accurately like conventional DGPS. For this case an additional communication link for DGPS RTCM is not necessary. This method is called inverted DGPS. In this paper we develop an IDGPS system algorithm and implement it using wireless data modem network and digital map. Test results show its effectiveness.
