MLSO 3 : Safety related regulations
허창훈 ( Chang Hun Huh ) 대한피부과학회 2014 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.66 No.2
This lecture is to provide information to ensure the safe use of medical lasers. There’s no forced regulation by law regarding medical laser safety but guideline has been provided by Korean Food & Drugs Administration. In America, American National Standard Institute provided safety guideline, American National Standard for Safe Use of Lasers in Health Care, ANSI Z136.3, which is a minimum standard for laser safety. 1. Purpose The purpose of this lecture is to provide guidelines for protection from workplace hazards associated with the use of medical lasers. This purpose is to be accomplished through the implementation of administrative and engineering controls and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed in the American National Standards Institute’s American National Standard for the Safe Use of Lasers . ANSI Z136.1. While some hospital may have additional and/or stricter guidelines for the safe use of medical lasers, the guidelines outlined in this lecture shall serve as the minimum requirements for all dermatologic procedures. 2. Scope The Laser Safety Program applies to all doctors, residents, medical students, and to employees of each hospital who operate or care medical laser equipment. It also applies to any other individuals who may visit or have access to these areas at any time. 3. Policy Korea Dermatological Association and Korean Dermatologic Laser Association are committed to the minimization of accidents and/or injuries caused by the use of medical lasers. The main goal is to ensure that all exposures to laser radiation (both to the eyes and skin) are kept below the applicable maximum permissible exposure (MPE) limit. This will be accomplished through training and educationof personnel on laser safety and the use of administrative controls, engineering controls, and PPE. For determination of its effectiveness and for any necessary amendments, this Laser Safety Program will be re-evaluated periodically. Those who want to be a board certified dermatologist should pass through this course.

Reconstructive options for facial non-melanoma skin cancer surgery
허창훈 ( Chang Hun Huh ) 대한피부과학회 2013 대한피부과학회 학술발표대회집 Vol.65 No.2
Non-melanoma skin cancer is rarely metastasized thus excision itself can be treatment of choice in many conditions. But, reconstruction after excision might be troublesome and sometime not easy to cover whole defect in one time. Generally, simple closure is commonly used method, but M-plasty or lazy S-plasty can be variations of simple closure. Flap including advancement, rotation, transposition, interpolation also easily used. Graft or secondary intentional healing can be substitutes for those reconstructive methods. Through this session, I would like to introduce reconstructive options for covering the defect after excision of non-melanoma skin cancer, and which one might be suitable in each case.
