Performance of automotive lead acid battery was verified depending on electrode arrangement. Low rate discharge performance was not affected with electrode arrangement, but high rate charge/discharge (for example, reserve capacity, cold cranking ampere, and charge acceptance) performance and cycle life had much relation with the cell design. These results came from diminishing electrical and ionic resistance of the cylinder type lead acid battery. Although cylinder type battery had large volume than flat type battery, increasing technology of lead acid battery and some void volume of flat type cattery could compensate this demerit.
