등장인물의 반체화적 태도(disembodied attitudes) 연구-네 가지 체화주의 개념과 라반 이론을 중심으로-

본 연구는 등장인물의“반체화적 태도(disembodied attitudes)”를 규명하고 관련 연기방법론의 이론적 토대를 마련하기 위해 진행되었다. 최근 들어 ‘체화(embodiment)’와 관련된 연구를 선도하는 여러 학자들은 공연예술가를 비롯한 인문학자들이 학제간 연구를 진행하면서 관련 개념을 혼동해왔다고 비판하였다. 따라서 연구자는 ‘체화’ 개념을 ‘특정 움직임 속에서 드러나는 정신적인 상태’와 관련하여 사용할 것이다. 우리는 움직이면서 그 움직임과 ‘이질적’이고 ‘배반적’인 마음 상태를 지닐 수 있는데, 연구자는 그러한 몸가짐과 마음가짐 모두를 ‘반체화적 태도(disembodied attitudes)’라고 규정하고자 한다. 등장인물의 반체화적 태도는, 설령 그것이 개인적이든 혹은 사회문화적이든, 관객이 관련 인물을 마음속에 강하게 각인하게 만들 수 있다. 게다가 반체화적 태도는 관객들로부터 여러 모순적인 감정적·인지적 반응들을 일으키면서 삶의 다른 면을 보여줄 수 있다. 본 연구는 다음과 같이 진행되었다. 첫째, 네 가지 체화주의 개념(4E cognition)을 중심으로 마음 현상에 관한 최근의 학문적 논의를 살펴보고, 이에 따라 “반체화적 태도(disembodied attitudes)”를 학술적으로 정리하고자 했다. 네 가지 체화주의 개념은 최근 들어 많은 연구자가 주목하는 것으로서, “체화적 인지(embodied cognition)”에서 시작되어 “확장적 인지(extended cognition)”, “구현적 인지(embedded cognition)”, 그리고 “행화적 인지(enactive cognition)” 등으로 분화·발전된 개념들을 통칭한다. 둘째, 루돌프 라반(Rudolf Laban)의 “에포트(effort)”와 “정신 에포트(mental effort)” 개념을 중심으로 반체화적 태도가 보여주는 움직임 및 마음 작용의 특질을 논의하였다. 셋째, 반체화적 태도의 한 사례를 소개하면서, 제기될 수 있는 여러 의문점들을 살펴보았다. 다시 강조하지만, 우리가 등장인물의 반체화적 태도에 주목해야 하는 이유는, 그것이 관객을 집중시키고, 그들로부터 여러 모순적인 반응을 이끌어 내면서, 삶의 또 다른 모습을 보여줄 수 있기 때문이다. 우리는 본 연구를 기반으로 반체화적 태도를 ‘연기’할 수 있는 구체적인 방법론도 정립할 수 있을 것이다. 아울러 추후에 반체화적 태도에 관한 영향미학적·현상학적 연구를 추진하는 것도 흥미로울 수 있다. This study has been conducted to identify the “disembodied attitudes” of the characters and to establish the theoretical basis for the related acting methodology. Recently, several scholars leading the research related to “embodiment” or “embodied” have criticized that the concepts have been confusing to humanities scholars including performing artists as they have conducted interdisciplinary research. Therefore, I will use these concepts in relation to the mental state revealed in a specific movement. As we move, we can have a state of mind that is ‘betrayal’ with such a movement. I want to define such a bodily and mentally state as “disembodied attitudes”. The disembodied attitudes of characters, whether they are personal or socio-cultural, can make the audience strongly imprint the characters in mind. Moreover, they can reveal a different side of life, triggering many contradictory emotional and cognitive reactions from the audience. First, I discussed 4E cognitions, which is “embodied cognition”, “extended cognition”, “embedded cognition”, and “enactive cognition” to verify the recent academic discourses on embodiment and cognition. This is to understand disembodied attitudes academically. Second, I discussed the theories of Rudolf Laban, which are “effort” and “mental effort”, to verify the characteristics of disembodied attitudes. Third, while introducing an example of a disembodied attitude, I tried to discuss a few questions that may be raised in relation to disembodied attitudes. Definitely, we should pay attention to the disembodied attitudes of characters because they can draw the attention of the audience, elicits various contradictory emotional and cognitive reactions and reveal another aspect of our life that we have not yet recognized clearly. Based on this study, we will be able to establish a concrete methodology to “act” a disembodied attitude. In addition, it will be interesting to research the aesthetic impact of a disembodied attitude with phenomenological inquiry as a follow-up study.

잡지 『삼천리』를 통한 최승희의 이미지 연출 양상 고찰

일찍이 고프만(Erving Goffman)은 사람들이 명시적인 언어 기호와 노출되는 암시적 행동으로 자신들의 이미지를 연출한다, 라고 주장하였다. 연구자는 고프만의 문제의식에 따라 최승희 스스로가 당시 한일 대중들을 위해 연출한 이미지를 분석하고 그녀가 추구했던 삶의 모습을 밝히고자 했다. 연구자는 최승희 이미지 분석을 위한 기초 자료로써 잡지 『삼천리』에 실린 최승희 관련 기사에 주목하였다. 기사 중심 내용을 통해 명시적 이미지를 분석하고, 캠벨(Joseph Campbell)의 영웅 서사구조를 활용하여 그녀 행동이 내포하는 암시적 이미지에 대해 논하였다. 이러한 고찰을 통해 연구자가 제안하는 것은 최승희 스스로가 다양하고 총체적인 이미지를 연출하려 했고 또 그러한 삶을 추구했다, 라는 점이다. 최승희 삶의 총체성은 일제 강점기를 관통하는 한국 근대사를 이해하는 하나의 이정표가 될 것이라고 믿는다. Erving Goffman argued that people produce their own images with explicitly expressed language symbols and implicitly exposed behavior. I have analyzed the image produced by Choi Seunghee for the Korean and Japanese public and tried to reveal the life she pursued at that time. I have focussed on Choi Seunghee's articles in the magazine “Samcheolli” as the material for Choi Seunghee's image analysis. I have discussed the explicit image through the articles and the implicit image of her behavior using Joseph Campbell's heroic narrative structure. Through this study, I propose that Choi Seunghee herself tried to produce a diverse and collective image and pursued such a life. I believe that the totality of her life is believed to be a milestone in understanding Korean modern history through the Japanese colonial period.

연구자는 `유목주의`와 ‘정서 에포트’ 개념에 따라 정서의 유목주의적 양상을 밝히고, 그것의 의미를 논의하였다. 유목주의는 들뢰즈(Gilles Deleuze)와 가타리(Felix Guattari)가 제기한 유목민의 개념과 연결되는데, ‘탈경계적으로 영역을 확장해 나가는 방식 혹은 태도’를 일컫는다. 연구자는 들뢰즈와 가타리의 리좀과 지질학적 개념으로 이러한 유목주의에 대하여 논의하였다. 정서 에포트는 연구자의 「감정의 지형에 대하여」라는 선행 연구를 통해 제시된, 정서의 특질을 규명하는 개념이다. 연구자는 두 개념적 틀이 제공하는 관점에 따라 ‘정서가 지층이며, 리좀일 수 있다’라고 제안하고, 이러한 사실이 인간 사유와 관련하여 의미하는 바에 대해 논의하였다. 4차 산업 혁명의 도래와 인공지능의 등장이 산업 현장 및 일상에서 인간의 역할을 한층 더 축소시킬 것이라는 전망이 대두되고 있는 시기에, 본 연구가 대체될 수 없는 인간의 차별적인 특성과 가치를 부각시켜 줄 것이라고 믿는다. This study was conducted to reveal the aspect of nomadism in emotion and to discuss its implications for human perception and reasoning. In order to achieve this purpose, I have discussed "nomadism" and "emotion effort". I have proposed that emotion can be rhizomes and layers, according to the perspectives provided by the two conceptual frameworks, and discussed its implications related to human reasoning. This study will highlight the differentiating traits and values of human beings that can not be replaced.
