        Expression of Bcl-2 Family in 4-Nitroquinoline 1-Oxide-Induced Tongue Carcinogenesis of the Rat

        The number of patients with tongue carcinoma is increasing rapidly among young individuals in many parts of the world. Oral carcinoma progresses from hyperplastic lesion through dysplasia to invasive carcinoma and the concept of "field cancerization" with molecular alteration has been suggested for oral cavity carcinogenesis. Significant improvement in treatment and prognosis will depend on more detailed understanding of the multi-step process leading to cancer development. To induce tongue carcinoma in rat by 4-NQO, each drinking water was made to 10 ppm, 25 ppm, 50 ppm and control (only D.W. without 4-NQO). Specimens were classified into 4 groups such as control, I (mild & moderate dysplasia), II (severe dysplasia and carcinoma in situ), III (carcinoma). The mRNA expressions of Bcl-2 family were evaluated by RT-PCR technique. For anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 family, mRNA expression of Bcl-w was down-regulated in all stages of tongue carcinogenesis model. However, mRNA expression of Bcl-2 was up-regulated. For pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family, all members were down-regulated in all stages of tongue carcinogenesis model except for Bad mRNA in group III. In terms of BH3 only protein, mRNA expressions of Bok and Mcl-1 were down regulated in all stages of specimen, but Bmf in group II and BBC3 in group III were up-regulated. Our current findings demonstrated the involvements of mRNA expression of Bcl-2 family in multi-step tongue carcinogensis. This highlights the necessity for continued efforts to discover suitable biomakers (Bcl-2 family) for early diagnosis of the disease, and to understand its pathogenesis as a first step in improving methods of treatment. The discovery of these potential biomarkers and molecular targets for cancer diagnostics and therapeutics has the potential to significantly change the clinical approach and outcome of the disease.

        일부(一部) 사업장(事業場)의 산업보건(産業保健) 사업(事業)에 있어서의 근로자(勤勞者) 참여(參與)에 관한 조사(調査) 연구(硏究)

        The concept of workers' participation in occupational health was introduced to Korea recently in relation to primary health care in occupational health. But there is confusion and debate about workers' participation concept. The purpose of this study was to review the concepts of workers' participation and to conduct evaluation the workers' participation status in occupational health and safety, 394 workers and 54 employers (5.6%) in north area of Kyunggi-Do, were selected and interviewed with a questionnaire by a trained interviewer from August to September 1990. In general, the concept of workers' participation is based on industrial domocratisation and Declaration of Human Rights which had been powerful ideologies in labor movement. Contrary to workers' participation, community participation is rooted in the Health Rights. So, it is necessary to consider concept of workers' participation to improve participation. The results of survey were as follows. 1. Most of companies (71.75) carried out occupational health education to workers in study area. 2. The Occupational Safety and Health Committee (OSHC) were set up in 24.1% among the study companies, and 72.7% of workers among respondents thought that OSHC was helpful to workers health. 3. The workers signed his name to personal health report in 43.1% and the rate of participation in occupational environment examination was 54.9%. 4. The workers prefer the OSHC (39.3%), owner (35.1%) and union (25.8%) as a occupation health organisation, but owners prefer OSHC (54.5%), manager (43.2%) and union (2.3%). 5. Among the factors of the general characteristics, the existence of labor union was a major determinant of workers' attitude and level of workers' participation. As we have seen, most levels of workers' participation are low in occupational health. The variable of existence of labor union among the factors was a ma determinant of workers attitude and level of workers' participation. Therefore, in order to promote workers health, it is necessary to ponder long deeply on occupational health care system under the viewpoint of workers' participation.

        범용 단열재로 활용하기 위한 실리카 에어로젤 블랭킷의 처리 기술

        에어로젤은 지금까지 알려진 가장 단열성이 우수한 소재이지만 유연성이 없고 강도가 매우 낮아 부직포나 섬유에 에어로젤을 담지한 블랭킷이 현실적으로 가장 활용이 가능한 형태이다. 그러나 에어로젤 블랭킷도 분말 발생을 피할 수 없고 유연성이 부족하고 변형 가능성이 있는 문제가 있으므로 아직은 범용으로 사용되지는 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이를 해결하기 위하여 진공 처리, 표면 처리, 복합 소재화 기술을 적용하였고 일부 시제품도 제작하였다. 에어로젤 블랭킷을 알루미늄 시트로 감싼 다음 네 끝을 봉하고 진공을 뽑으면 단열성이 블랭킷 자체보다도 우수한 소재가 될 수 있다. 에어로젤 블랭킷을 수지로 도포하여 표면 처리하면 에어로젤 성형체를 만들 수 있다. 에어로젤 블랭킷에 여러 겹으로 수지나 섬유로 라미네이팅하여 복합체로 만들면 유연성을 지닌 단열소재로 활용할 수 있다. 특히 기공이 조절된 테플론 멤브레인을 활용한 복합체는 투습 및 방수 기능까지 보유하여 의복에 사용할 수 있다. 수지와 섬유의 에어로젤 블랭킷 복합체를 활용하여 방한화용 깔창과 야외용 깔개 시제품도 제작하였다. 에어로젤을 활용하여 제작한 깔창 및 야외 깔개의 열전도는 20 mW m<sup>-1</sup> K<sup>-1</sup> 이하로 단열성이 뛰어났으며, 유연성과 내구성도 우수하였다. Aerogel is the most excellent insulation material known to date, but it is inflexible and has very low strength. A blanket containing aerogel in a nonwoven fabric or fiber is currently the most practical form. However, aerogel blankets are not yet widely used because they cannot avoid dust generation when handled, lack flexibility, and can possibly deform. In this study, vacuum treatment, surface treatment, and composite materialization technology were applied to solve this problem, and some prototypes were also made. If an aerogel blanket is wrapped in an aluminum sheet, sealed at the four ends, and vacuumed, it can become a material with better insulation than the blanket itself. An aerogel molded body can be made by coating the aerogel blanket with resin and treating the surface. If the aerogel blanket is multi-packed and laminated with resin or fiber in multiple layers to make it a composite material, it can be used as a flexible insulation material. In particular, this composite material, which utilizes a Teflon membrane with controlled pores, is breathable and waterproof, so it can be used for clothing. Prototypes of insoles for winter boots and outdoor roll mats were also produced using aerogel blanket resin and fiber composites. These prototypes showed low thermal conductivity of less than 20 mW m<sup>-1</sup>K<sup>-1</sup>, with good flexibility and durability.

        Auger 반응기에서 제조한 다시마 유래 열분해오일의 특성

        오거 반응기를 이용하여 해조류 바이오매스인 다시마로부터 열분해 오일 제조 실험을 수행하였으며, 열분해 오일의 물리화학적 특성을 살펴보았다. 주요 공정 변수인 열분해 온도 및 오거 컨베이어 속도의 최적 조건은 각각 412 ℃, 20 rpm이었으며, 이 때 열분해 오일의 최대 수율은 32 wt%이었다. 낮은 탄소 함량 및 높은 산소 함량으로 인해, 다시마 유래 열분해 오일의 발열량(23.6 MJ kg<SUP>-1</SUP>)은 기존 화석연료의 약 60% 이었다. 열분해 오일의 GC/MS 분석 결과, 1,4-Anhydro-d-galactitol, dianhydromannitol, 1-hydroxy 2-propanone, isosorbide 등이 주요 화합물로 확인되었다. 촤는 탄소 함량이 낮고 산소함량이 높아 발열량(13.0 MJ kg<SUP>-1</SUP>)이 낮으며 다량의 무기 성분 및 황을 포함하고 있는 것으로 확인되었다. Pyrolysis of Saccharina japonica in an Auger reactor was conducted by varying the temperature and the auger speed and then physicochemical properties of the S. japonica-derived pyrolysis oil were analyzed. The maximum yield of S. japonica-derived pyrolysis oil (32 wt%) was obtained at a pyrolysis temperature of 412 ℃ and an auger speed of 20 rpm. Due to low carbon content and high oxygen content in the pyrolysis oil, the higher heating value of S. japonica-derived pyrolysis oil was 23.6 MJ kg<SUP>-1</SUP>, which was about 60% that of conventional hydrocarbon fuels. By GC/MS analysis, 1,4-Anhydro-d-galactitol, dianhydromannitol, 1-hydroxy 2-propanone and isosorbide were identified as the main chemical compounds of S. japonicaderived pyrolysis oil. The bio-char has low higher heating value (13.0 MJ kg<SUP>-1</SUP>) due to low carbon content and high oxygen content and contains a large amount of inorganic components and sulfur.

        의료용 산소발생기 제작을 위한 PSA 공정의 개발

        공기 중에서 산소를 분리하기 워하여 2탑 PSA 공정을 이용한 4단계 기본공정 공급기체의 유량파 세정기체의 유량이 생성물의 순도와 유량에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 4단계 기본 공정에 생성물가압 단계를 도입하면 생성물의 순도와 유량을 증가시키고, 압력균등화단계를 도입한 경우에는 생성물의 유량이 크게 증가한다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 현재 상용화되어 있는 의료용 산소 발생기 사양인 5 ℓ/min 유량에서 90%의 산소를 얻기 위해 시제품을 제작하여 산소의 순도 및 유량에 관한 실험을 수행하였다. In order to separate oxygen from air, the effects of feed gas flow rate and rinse gas flow rate on the product purity and flow were examined using 2 bed PSA with 4 step cycle. The addition of product pressurization step increased the product purity and flow rate. The addition of pressure equalization increased the product flow rate. The test product was manufactured and the purity and flow rate of product oxygen was examined. The results were compared with the commercial medical oxygen generator of 5 ℓ/min and 90% oxygen purity.

        간벌처리에 따른 외생균근균의 군집 변화

        본 연구에서는 간벌 처리에 따른 외생균근균의 군집 구조의 변화를 확인하기 위해 간벌지와 비간벌지에서 정량적으로 토양을 채취하여 간벌에 따른 외생균근균의 종 다양성, 종 수, 외생균근 수, 군집 내 종 구성을 비교하였다. 분석 결과 간벌지와 비간벌지는 공통적으로 Russula 속이 우점하고 있으나, 간벌 처리 후 산림 토양의 외생균근균 군집의 종 구성이 달라지고 종 수가 증가되는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구결과는 간벌이 산림 생태계의 지상부 뿐만 아니라 외생균근균과 같은 토양속의 미생물의 군집 구조에도 유의미한 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인이라는 것을 보여주고 있다. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of thinning on ectomycorrhizal fungal communities in a forest. Ectomycorrhizal root tips were collected from forest soils in thinning and non-thinning sites and identified using morphological characteristics and molecular analysis of ITS rDNA sequences. As a result, species richness of ectomycorrhizal fungi was significantly increased and ectomycorrhizal fungal community composition was changed by thinning. These results suggest that forest management such as thinning, could be an important factor affecting mutualistic relationships and belowground microorganisms in forest ecosystems.
