Power conditioning systems (PCS) perform to convert the variable direct current (DC) output of a solar module into alternating current (AC) that is distributed to the electrical grid. For providing high quality power continuously, it is importance to develop high reliable and maintainable PCS in system design and development phase. In this paper, we deal with a RAM analysis of a PCS and build a functional tree in order to define essential functions and components in the system. Also, a commercial simulation S/W, BlockSim is used to estimate the average annual availability and average annual frequency of system failures. Also, numerical examples are studied in order to analyze the target values of MTBF of the components and PM intervals that satisfy the target availability and reliability.
