This study aims to provide basic data for building stages in street space and its plans by analyzing characteristics of seat behaviors of users on weekdays, targeting on stages in the commercial streets where public design was applied to. The findings of this study as following. First, when observing clustering characteristics of stage users, it was found that the group consisting of more than two people had the largest occupation rate of stage and its utilization rapidly increased after 3 pm. Also, female group used it more than male group. Second, in characteristics of interpersonal distance, people with the same sex had closer interpersonal distance than people with different sex. Also, 'female-female' group's interpersonal distance was shorter than 'male-male' group's. Third, when analyzing characteristics of seats what users preferred, most of them preferred to use short side of stage and space in the corner where a pillar is built rather than long side of stage. That means they relatively prefer a space where doesn't expose them to others when staying there. Fourth, when analyzing the average stay time in short and long side of stage by dividing it into leisure hours(am9:00~pm3:30) and crowded hours(pm3:30~pm:7), their stay time in short side of stage was the longest at crowded hours. That is, most of stage space users tended to stay at crowded hours longer than at leisure hours. In conclusion, these results imply that stages in street space need to be built for performance in the future and more planned approach with various angles is required to support seat behaviors of users at leisure hours.
