Journal Bearing is hydrodynamic lubrication working that fluid exist between journal and bearing. The main object of this study is to predict the surface temperature rise of journal bearings in marine diesel engine due to frictional heating of lubricant film. Both the numerical simulation and the temperature measurement test are conducted to evaluate a lubrication condition of journal bearing for marine diesel engines. For the calculation of the surface temperature rise, we combine the semi-infinite solid method and the finite volume method. Journal bearing tests are also carried out to verify the accuracy of thermal analysis.
