Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the needs of dental hygienists in local health institutions for on-the-job training in an attempt to develop more systematic and effective on-the-job training programs geared toward local dental health care workers. Method: The subject population of this study were 1,244 dental hygienists who worked in local health institutions. A survey was conducted across the nation during a two-month period of time from October to December 2006. And the answer sheets from 811 respondents were analyzed. Results: The vast majority of the investigated dental hygienists never underwent on-the-job training for oral health projects over the past two years. Those who underwent the training viewed it favorably as they found it to be conducive to their job performance. In general, they hoped to get the training every two years, and they preferred educational institutions such as local colleges as a place for that training. As for preference for learning contents, they wanted to receive education on student oral health projects the most. Most of the respondents felt the need for each type of oral health project specified by the current law. Specifically, they considered it more necessary to learn about oral health education projects, fissure sealing, planning and evaluation of oral health projects, school oral health projects, senior oral health projects, preschool oral health projects and oral health publicity activities. Conclusions: The above-mentioned findings showed the definite needs of dental hygienists in local health institutions for on-the-job training. Development of needs-related and continuous on-the-job training course with proper interval is required.

Objectives : This thesis aims to provide basic materials for exploring trends and operational strategy of the cyber training. To achieve study purpose, it analyzed the satisfaction of trainees in regard to the education of field training course of Cyber Oral Health Promotion Program, established and operated between 2007 and 2009. Methods : This study conducted questionnaire surveys after the completion of training to utilize the satisfaction level of 989 respondents among 1,310 employees of public institutions who completed the field training course of Cyber Oral Health Promotion Program. Results : Respondents showed satisfaction on the training course throughout three years in terms of satisfaction of instructional methods (screen characteristics, educational techniques, and so on) according to educational contents, the connection and realization of online education and service satisfaction, necessary for learning in association with educational guidance, offered to learners by a tutor and rapidity in questions and answers. A majority of respondents in all years answered that they participated in training program voluntarily for self-development and improvement in work ability, and they thought that the completion of course would be helpful to their current work and future work. In addition, cyber training program was primarily conducted in the working place by 72.5%, and the most difficult thing in cyber training was to combine work and learning by 60.6%. Conclusions : As shown in the results above, workers in public institutions were satisfied with cyber job training and it was evaluated that cyber job training would be helpful to performing their actual work. Therefore, it is needed to collect and evaluate more diverse requirements of trainees with regard to cyber job training, and the development and operation of job training program that reflects these results sufficiently is required.(J Korean Soc Dent Hygiene 2012;12(1):225-233)

Vol.11 No.6

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of a program geared toward improving elderly people`s oral function. After a program was provided to the selected elderly people free of charge for three months, they were asked to rate their own oral function to see whether they underwent any changes after their participation in the program, and their oral function was tested to obtain objective data. The collected data were analyzed by the statistical package SPSS WIN 18.0. The findings of the study were as follows: As for changes in their self-rated indicators of oral function, they faced less troubles in most of the oral function items after they participated in the program, and there were statistically significant differences in some of the items. As a result of making an objective evaluation of their oral function, they underwent a little change in salivary flow rate from 1.19 to 1.30, though the change was not statistically significant. In terms of opening, they showed a statistically significant rise of scores from 4.22 to 4.53, and they also showed a statistically significant rise of scores in pronunciation from 30.52 to 38.88. Regarding satisfaction with the program, they gave 4.48 to the program, which implied that they were greatly satisfied with the program. The abovementioned findings suggest that oral health experts and program providers should try to encourage elderly people to keep on taking oral health programs with interest. Currently, oral exercise programs are conducted in some public health centers and in the field of clinical dentistry, and it`s required to offer more oral exercise programs as community exercise programs for the elderly

국민건강보험 급여화에 따른 공공재원기반 치면열구전색 공급량 변화

최진선 ( Jin Sun Choi ),마득상 ( Deuk Sang Ma ),정세환 ( Se Hwan Jung ),조은별 ( Eun Pyol Cho ),박덕영 ( Deok Young Park ) 대한예방치과·구강보건학회 2015 大韓口腔保健學會誌 Vol.39 No.1

Objectives: The purposes of this study were to review changes in the amount of pit and fissure sealant (PFS) provided after the inclusion of PFS in treatments covered by the National Health Insurance (NHI) and to assess differences in the supplied amount between geographical areas where accessibility to dental care differs. Methods: The years for comparison were selected based on data availability and the time of inclusion of PFS into NHI coverage. The selected pre-inclusion year was 2008, and the post-inclusion year was 2012. Data regarding the amount of PFS supplied were collected from the oral health program, NHI, and Medical care. To dichotomize areas by high and low dental care accessibility, we standardized the population size, number of dental institutions, and number of dentists in each group. Results: We considered metropolitan areas and Gyeonggi Province as high dental care accessibility areas, while other provinces were considered as low dental care accessibility areas. Regardless of the transforming constant, the amount of PFS supplied increased in high dental care accessibility areas and decreased in low dental care accessibility areas after inclusion of PFS in NHI. Conclusions: To increase the amount of PFS provided in low dental care accessibility areas, promotion of PFS should be strengthened and support from oral health programs should be increased. Additionally, waiving out-of-pocket money for PFS in NHI should be considered to remove barriers of supply.
