이 연구는 텔레비전 뉴스를 하나의 서사물로 보고 새로운 뉴스 형식으로 평가되고 있는 YTN 〈돌발영상〉의 서사전략을 분석했다. 이를 통해 새로운 뉴스미디어가 어떠한 정치현실 구성에 기여하는지 살펴보고자 했다. 분석 결과 〈돌발영상〉은 미디어 카니발 전략과 역파놉티콘 전략이라는 두 가지 서사전략으로 뉴스를 구성하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이 두 가지 서사전략은 다시 하위전략으로 세분화되었는데, 미디어 카니발 전략의 하위전략은 첫째, 권위의 전복, 둘째, 희화화와 패러디, 셋째, 비공식적 언어의 사용 세 가지 유형으로, 역파놉티콘 전략의 하위전략으로는 첫째, 시놉티콘, 둘째, 의사사건 뒤집기 두 가지 유형으로 구분되었다. 〈돌발영상〉의 서사전략은 다양한 현실 정치공간을 미디어 카니발의 공간으로 활용하면서 정치엘리트에 대한 수용자의 감시권력을 강화하는 뉴스 구성 방식이라고 할 수 있다. 또한 이 같은 서사전략은 뉴스라는 제도화된 형식을 통해 정치적ㆍ사회적 이슈를 대중적인 구경거리로 제공하면서 정치엘리트의 권위주의적 속성을 전복시키고 패러디함으로써 정치 또는 정치엘리트의 위상을 끌어내리는 동시에 정치적 쟁점에 관한 수용자의 논쟁과 토론을 자극하는 계기를 마련한다. The news media play an increasingly powerful role in the process of constructing political reality. The narrative frame is the basic organization of the structural components used in the news story. Every narrative has its own strategies representing the news story. This study analyzes Korean political reality and political discourse constructed by YTN Dolbalyongsang, using narrative analysis method. In order to understand how YTN Dolbalyongsang represents Korean legislature, political parry, politician, administration, justice, civil organization, and the press, this study analyzes 478 Dolbalyongsang contents especially focusing on narrative strategies. As a result, this study finds two narrative strategies: media carnival strategy and a strategy that gives the surveillance power to audience. Media carnival strategy has three sub-strategies: the subversion of authority, making a caricature and parody, using abusive language. Reverse-panopticon strategy has two sub-strategies: synopticon, disclosing pseudo-event. Using those narrative strategies, YTN Dolbalyongsang contents represent Korean political reality as having three characteristics. They depict legislature, political parry, politician as main actors of Korean politics. They describe the political arena as consisted of political conflicts. Such political conflicts are represented as two main forms: discourse struggles and physical clashes. The narrative strategies are frequently adopted for describing Korean political reality as an interesting political serial drama. YTN sends out its program, Dolbalyongsang, on the air regularly, so it looks like an interesting political serial drama. As a consequence, it can gives the audience a great interest in politics and Korean political system.
