Sixty-three consecutive trochanteric hip fractures treated at Dept, of Orthopedic Surgery. Severance Hospital for 6 years since 1968 were reviewed. Despite lack of follow-up, the late results in thirty-two cases of fracture were analyzed. Eleven cases (34.4%) were treated by cast immobilization combined with traction and twenty-one cases (65.6%), by internal fixation with conventional devices. Six mal-unions in conservative treatement, one infection and one mal-union in operative treatment were experienced The average duration of radiological union was 12.3 weeks and no difference was found between the type of conventional fixation devices. All patients except for the complicated cases were allowed to bear weight as early as tolerated, in an average of 8 weeks.

Fractures involving the growth plates in children are common injuries and the injuries present special problems in diagnosis and management. The dread complication of serious disturbance of growth is usually predictable and, in certain circumstances, can be prevented. This report is based on 92 cases of epiphyseal injuries who were seen and treated at our orthopedic department during the 8 years and one month period from October, 1967 to October, 1975. The study includes clinical and radiologic observation on our series of epiphyseal injuries. The results may be summarized as follows. 1. The total number of cases was 92 and male patients. predominated by a ratio of 3 to 1. The common causes of injuries were a fall and car accident. 2. The average age was 7 in cases of the injuries of distal humerus, 10 in the injuries of distal radius and 13 in the injuries of distal tibia. 3. Epiphyseal fractures in this series were classified by Salter's classification and type I was the most common type (48.9%). Type I was seen frequently at the distal radius, type I at the distal tibia and type N at the distal humerus. 4. The order of the frequent sites of epiphyseal injuries was lateral condyle of humerus (27.2%), distal radius (21.7%) and distal tibia (17.4%). 5. In almost all cases of type I and I , gentle closed reduction and cast immobilization was performed, but open reduction and internal fixation in type I and N. 6. The complications of the epiphyseal injuries in this series were 14 cases. These included redisplacement-3 cases, non-union-4 cases, angular deformity-4 cases and limb shortening-3 cases.

Triple Arthrodesis is a procedure that has been widely utilized for 1) stabilization of the foot paralyzed by poliomyelitis or other neurological disorders, 2) correction of congenital talipes varus or valgus deformity, 3)severe symptomatic flat feet, and 4) the relief of pain resulting from subtalar or mid-tarsal arthritis of any origin. At the orthopedic department in Severance Hospital, 49 operation of triple arthrodesis for the stabilization correction of deformity, relief of pain and improvement of function of the foot were performed between the years of 1966 and 1975. Forty-six cases of those were studied for the follow-up from 6 months to3 years. All the patients were evaluated for the age distribution, sex incidence, causative condition, anatomical deformities, and the type of internal fixation. In the evaluation of end results both the anatomical and functional aspects were taken into consideration as the method by Patterson, et al. The end results were Good in 30 cases(65.2%), Fair in 14 cases(30.4%) and Poor in 2 cases (4.4 % ).
