The effect of prolonged treatment with Mori Folium column fraction(MFCF) on intestinal alpha-glycosidase activity has been studied in mice made hyperglycemic and hyperinsulinemic by feeding a high carbohydrate-containing diet. Mice were treated for 10 week with or without MFCF, added to the high carbohydrate-containing diet at 50mg/100g food. While MFCF had no effect on body weight, it prevented the rise in glycemia and insulinemia. Maltase, sucrase and lactase activities were measured in intestinal homogenates of proximal, middle and distal segments of jejunoileum. Following 10 week of MFCF administration, MFCF significantly induced all three enzyme activities especially at middle and distal segments. The mechanisms responsible for these changes and their potential biochemical implications remain to be detemiined.

Seoul Metro continuously converted the standard rail into continuous welded rail since the later part of 1990"s, and currently, most of the sectors of the Seoul Metro are continuous welded rails. As the continuous welded rail is inhibited by the contraction and expansion force of the rail as well as rail-bed, this force is stored as the internal stress of the rail with the exception of portion of the both ends of the continuous welded rail. If the contraction and expansion of the rail is restricted, the internal stress, that is, the force in the direction of the axis, is proportional to the cross-sectional area of the rail. Therefore, with regards to the temperature changes, the internal stress changes in accordance with the type of rail, bolting apparatus, railroad tie and rail-bed. As such, the rail temperature becomes important data in securing the gap at the adjoining section of the rail in the standard rail section, and to determine the setting temperature for the continuous welded rail. In addition, it becomes basic data for maintenance of the track. Accordingly, this thesis introduces cases of installation of rail temperature detector in order to prevent and manage track defectiveness due to increase in rail temperature, and to utilize as basic data at the time of various construction and maintenance. Furthermore, this thesis aims to assist maintenance of track through systematic temperature management in the future by looking into means of its utilization.

The recycling rate of recovered paper in Korea is the highest in the world, 92%, but remanufacturing yield is low due to the extremely poor quality of the paper. The poor quality, in turn, influences to the reject amount in deinking process. To increase the yield of old newspaper recycling process, hydrophobic degree of inorganic pigments of deinking stock must be reduced. To determine the hydrophobicity, Pitch Potential Deposit Tester (PDT) was newly designed and applied with respect to the SB latex property of various quality used in Korea; its hydrophobic degree according to Tg, gel content, charge and particle size of latex and optimum designing condition of SB latex. 당분섭취와 행동장애와의 상관성은 충분히 이론적으로 설득력이 있으나 아직까지 충분한 과학적 근거가 부족한 실정이다. 당분이 전체 칼로리의 25~60%를 차지하는 고당분 식이는 뇌 기능을 위해 필요한 필수 미네랄, 비타민, 아미노산들을 대체할 수 있다는 사실을 많은 연구들이 간과하고 있는 것도 사실이다. 따라서 일상생활에서 섭취되는 음식패턴을 참고하여 연구방법을 고안하고 그에 따라 결과를 해석하는 것이 당분섭취와 행동장애 상관성을 규명하는데 관건이다. 다만 특정 그룹과 체중이 상대적으로 적게 나가는 어린아이들의 경우 혈당치를 급속히 올리는 단순당의 과다한 섭취는 소아비만은 물론 ADHD와 같은 정신신경학적 장애를 일으킬 가능성은 있다고 사료된다. 우리나라 소아 청소년들의 정신건강을 위해서 slow food의 섭취는 이러한 이유로 권장되며 국가적 차원에서 이에 대한 대책이 마련되어야 할 것이다. There are not enough scientific evidences documenting correlation between sucrose intakes and behavioral problems. Many studies ignored the fact that high-sucrose diets, with sucrose ranging from 25 to 60 percent of caloric intake, may be displacing essential minerals, vitamins, and amino acids necessary for brain function. This would explain why most controlled, low-dose, short-duration, double-blind trials fail to find a relation between sucrose and behavior, despite widespread public belief to the contrary. However, specific groups and children with low body weight would show obesity and ADHD when they take plenty of sucrose, which raises the blood glucose levels rapidly. For psychiatric health of Korean youth group, it is recommended to ingest slow foods such as complex carbohydrate, and Korean government would prepare a counterplan for these problems.
