The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that influence school life satisfaction based on personal variables, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and perception of the educational environment at a medical school in Korea. The data were collected from 228 medical students who agreed to participate in the study at a medical school. The Dundee Ready Medical Environment Measure (DREEM) and the self-esteem scale by Rosenberg were used. Questions measuring satisfaction of medical school life and interpersonal relationships (with professors, with senior/junior students, and with friends) were asked using a 5 point Likert scale. The data were analyzed by t-test, analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis. The satisfaction of medical school life of male students was significantly higher than female students and increased with years of schooling. In DREEM, the students' perception of teachers decreased by school years. The relationship with senior and junior students of third year students was higher than other school years. The result of the regression analysis to determine the variables that affect satisfaction of medical school life showed that interpersonal relationships with senior and junior students, the students' social self-perception, and the students' perception of learning were significant. The results of this study will help medical schools in their plans to improve the level of satisfaction for the happiness and successful academic achievements of their students.

The purpose of this study was to examine the variation in professors' satisfaction with faculty development programs and in their teaching efficacy according to their demographic characteristics and the rate of participation in faculty development programs in a medical school. The data were collected from 59 faculty members who participated in the Professor's Seminar. The questionnaire consisted of three parts: general background of the respondent; satisfaction with the faculty development program; and teaching efficacy. The data were analyzed by methods of descriptive analysis, analysis of variance, and the Mann-Whitney U-test. The program satisfaction of faculty members was significantly different by the years of educational career but it was not different by job status, specialty, gender, and the participation level in faculty programs. The faculty members' teaching efficacy differed significantly by gender and the participation level in faculty programs, while it did not differ by educational career, job status, or specialty. The results of this study suggest that various faculty programs should be developed to increase the satisfaction level of different groups of faculty members, and that they should be more focused on teaching efficacy, as it is considered to be one of the most effective way to increase the quality of education.
생체활성 유리 나노입자 첨가량에 따른 치면열구전색제의 물성평가와 세균부착 억제 효과

본 연구는 불소 미방출 치면열구전색제 Concise<SUP>TM</SUP>에 제조한 생체활성 유리 나노입자(bioactive glass nano particles: BGn)를 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 wt%를 첨가하여 새로운 치면열구전색제를 조성하고 세균부착실험을 통한 세균부착 억제 효과와 물성을 평가 하였다. 물흡수도와 용해도는 ISO 4049(2009) 규격에 맞추어 직경10 mm, 두께 2 mm 시편을 제작하여 무게를 측정하여 산출하였으며 세균부착효과는 S. mutans, S. aureus, E. coli 3개의 균주를 이용하여 평가하였다. 실험 결과 물흡수도는 BGn 첨가가 증가할수록 높은 값을 보였으며 용해도는 첨가될수록 낮은 용해도를 보였다(p<0.05). 세균부착실험 결과 대조군 Concise<SUP>TM</SUP>과 비교하여 BGn을 첨가한 S. mutans 실험군에서 다소 낮은 부착 양상을 보였으나 통계적 유의한 차이는 나타나지 않았으나, S. aureus 실험군과 E.coli 실험군에서는 통계적 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 이는 BGn의 세균부착 억제 효과가 있음을 입증한 것이라 사료된다. 향후 BGn 첨가양에 따른 효율성과 폭 넓은 물성 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다. In this study BGn-incorporated non-fluoride release of pit and fissure sealant Concise<SUP>TM</SUP> was developed to improve the mechanical properties and promote antibacterial effect of fit and fissure sealant with the original material. The mechanical properties and antibacterial activity of BGn incorporating vary-ing amounts bioactive glass nano particles(BGn) (0,0.5,1.0 and 2.0 wt% in sealant) were characterized composition of the resulting were investigated. The solubility to aid absorption was calculated by weighing specimens with a diameter of 10 mm and a thickness of 2 mm according to ISO 4049 (2009). The antimicrobial effect was evaluated using three strains of S. mutans, S. aureus and E. coli. The absorbance of the test results was as high as the addition of BGn increased, and the lower the solubility as the solubility was added(p<0.05). Adhesion experiment results S. mutans in contrast to the control group Concise<SUP>TM</SUP>, BGn-added experimental group showed a somewhat lower adherent surface but no statistically significant difference was observed (p<0.05). However S. aureus and E. coli statistical analysis indicated a significant difference for antibacterial agents between control and BGn containing(p<0.05). It seems that this BGn proved that even a antibacterial effect was demonstrated. Therefore, it was suggest that the additional effects of BGn and research on a wide range of substances.
구강조직유래 유도만능줄기세포-생체재료 복합체의 재생의료 동향

In recent years, many researchers and clinicians found interest in regenerative medicine using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) with biomaterials due to their pluripotency, which is able to differentiate into any type of cells without human embryo, which of use is ethically controversial. However, there are limitations to make iPSCs from adult somatic cells due to their low stemness and donor site morbidity. Recently, to overcome above drawbacks, dental tissue-derived iPSCs have been highlighted as a type of alternative sources for their high stemness, easy gathering, and their complex (ectomesenchymal) origin, which easily differentiate them to various cell types for nerve, vessel, and other dental tissue regeneration. In other part, utilizing biomaterials for regenerative medicine using cell is recently highlighted because they can modulate cell adhesion, proliferation and (de)differentiation. Therefore, this paper will convey the overview of advantages and drawbacks of dental tissue-derived iPSCs and their future application with biomaterials.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine classifying the level and accuracy of the meta-cognitive level of students and dental hygiene, and to understand the impact on the process of problem solving and accordingly, it is intended to provide a basis for learning strategies. Methods : A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 328 dental hygiene students in 3 colleges in Gyeonggi-do and Chungnam. Data were analyzed by the frequency analysis, one way ANOVA, Scheffe‘s post-hoc test, Pearson‘s correlation coefficient using SPSS 12.0. Results : Meta-cognitive level of the subject was on average 4.43 points and problem solving level was lower at 2.82 points. Showed a significant difference in satisfaction with the major motives meta-cognitive level in accordance with the general characteristics of the subject (p<0.05). Results of this study showed that no statistically significant differences in both the sub-areas of the level of problem solving according to the general characteristics of the subject(p>0.05). There was no correlation between the ability to solve problems and meta-cognitive level of the subjects(p>0.05). Conclusions : The finding of the study showed that meta-perception of dental hygiene students are lower the level of problem-solving that is compared to meta-cognition. It is suggestedthat development of a variety of learning methods for improving meta-cognitive thinking and problem-solving skills required in dental hygiene school curriculum.
