초,중학생의 자살 시도에 영향을 미치는 위험요인과 보호요인에 관한 연구: 성별 차이를 중심으로

본 연구는 초·중학생의 자살시도에 영향을 미치는 위험요인과 보호요인을 개인, 가족, 친구, 학교 차원에서 성별 차이를 중심으로 파악하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 교육복지우선지원사업 욕구조사의 일환으로 경기지역 18개 초·중학교에 재학 중인 초등 5학년에서 중등 2학년 사이의 학생 3,467명을 대상으로 이루어진 2차 자료를 로지스틱 회귀분석을 사용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 전체 연구 대상 학생의 약 20명 중 1명(4.9%)이 자살시도를 한 경험이 있었고 자살시도를 경험한 여학생이 남학생보다 2배 이상 더 많은 것으로 나타났다. 여학생의 경우에는 자살생각이 자살시도에 가장 크게 영향을 미치는 위험요인이었고, 흡연경험, 우울감이 그 뒤를 이었다. 또한 보호요인 중에는 학교의 관심과 지지와 긍정적 자아인식이 유의미한 영향 요인으로 나타났다. 한편 남학생의 경우 위험요인 중 타인에 대한 적개심이 유일하게 유의미한 요인으로 나타났다. 연구결과 초·중학생의 성별에 따라 자살시도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 분명한 차이가 있는 것이 확인되었고 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 자살예방과 대처를 위한 실천전략을 제언하였다. The purpose of this study was to identify risk and protective factors that predict suicide attempts among elementary and middle school students with a focus on gender differences. Secondary data gathered as part of needs assessment study of 3,467 students from 5th grade in elementary school to 2nd year in middle school of 18 schools in Kyonggido province were analyzed using logistic regression. The study results revealed that about 1 out of 20 students(4.9%) had attempted suicide and the number of female students who had made the attempt was roughly double that of male students. For female students, the strongest predictor of suicide attempt among risk factors was suicide ideation followed by smoking experience and depressive feelings. As for protective factors, school`s concern and support for students and positive self-perception were found to be significantly associated with suicide attempt. For male students, on the other hand, the only factor that was found to be predictive of suicide attempt was hostility toward others. As such, clear gender differences were found with respect to factors that predict suicide attempts. Implications for suicide prevention and intervention are discussed.
