애정 전기소설 남성 주인공의 자질 변화와 그 서사적 의미

본고는 19세기 애정 전기소설의 대표 작품인 〈절화기담〉과 〈포의교집〉에 집중해 이들 작품에 나타난 남성 주인공의 자질 변화와 그 서사적 의미를 고찰한 것이다. 이들 작품의 경우 전대 전기소설의 남성 주인공이 공통적으로 지녔던 ‘문재(文才)라는 자질’과 ‘미혼(未婚)이라는 자질’이 발견되지 않는다. 이로 인해 이 자질들이 각각 함의하고 있었던 ‘인물의 진지성’과 ‘결연의 진정성’이라는 의미가 완전히 해체되게 된다. 뿐만 아니라 이러한 자질 변화로 인해 남녀가 서로를 애정의 대상으로서 인식하는 맥락이 달라지게 되면서 동상이몽의 사랑이라는 새로운 관계 양상을 낳게 된다. 남성 주인공은 결연의 대상을 일탈적 유흥의 대상으로 여기는데 반해, 여성 주인공은 결연을 자신들이 처한 폭력으로부터 탈출하려는 하나의 해소과정으로 여기면서 상대방을 진지한 만남의 대상으로 여기는 것이다. 이처럼 19세기 작품은 사랑의 대상과 그 방식 등 다양한 층위에서 ‘불일치’ 현상이 반복된다. 한편 여성 주인공은 이러한 어긋남 속에서 기존에는 찾아볼 수 없던 이별이라는 선택지를 갖게 된다. 이를 통해 여성의 자의식을 엿볼 수 있다는 점에서 매우 흥미롭다. This paper focuses on two representative works of nineteenth-century Love Romance(愛情傳奇小說), 〈Jeolhwagidam〉 and 〈Pouigyojib〉, to examine the changes in the male protagonists’ qualities and their narrative significance. In these works, the qualities of ‘literary talent’ and ‘unmarriedness’ that were common to the male protagonists of previous biographical novels are not found. This completely dismantles the meanings of ‘seriousness of character’ and ‘authenticity of marriage’ that these qualities implied respectively. Furthermore, this change in qualities changes the context in which men and women perceive each other as objects of affection, resulting in a new relationship pattern of love. While the male protagonist sees the object of his love as an object of deviant entertainment, the female protagonist sees it as a way to escape from the violence she has been subjected to, and sees the other as an object of serious encounter. In this way, the 19th century works repeat the phenomenon of ‘inconsistency’ on various levels, including the object and method of love. Meanwhile, the female protagonist has a previously unexplored option of separation through this discrepancy. This is very interesting because it gives us a glimpse into women’s self-consciousness.

In cellular geo-location systems, positioning performance is influenced by hearability of receivers. Hearability can be enhanced by using long integration at the receiver. When unknown residual frequency remains in baseband signals, however, the coherent integration loss increases as the residual frequency becomes larger. Consequently, length of coherent integration is determined by the residual frequency. By precise estimation and compensation of the residual frequency, integration length can be enlarged. This paper presents a residual frequency estimator for WiBro geo-location and analyzes its performance in multipath environment. By computer simulation, an optimal receiver structure to enhance the hearability of WiBro geo-location is proposed.

The Multiple Intelligences(MI) Theory posits at least eight different intelligences that human beings have in varying degrees. This study aims at designing an instructional mode based on MI theory and investigating the impact of implementing an MI-based instruction in the middle school English classroom. For this purpose, the classroom was restructured to create MI activity centers based on individual intelligences. The period of the experiment was four months. During the first four hours, the students" multiple intelligences were identified through an MI checklist and their performance in MI-based activities. One group chose the activity center they preferred to work with. The other group was assigned to the activity center that dominated them. The results were as follows: First, the MI-based instruction exerted a positive effect on students" interest, readiness, participants, and self-directed learning attitudes. Second, MI-based instructions had no effect on paper-and-pencil tests but exerted a positive effect on MI portfolio assessments based on MI theory. Third, the students who have high spatial, musical, interpersonal, or intrapersonal intelligence showed much progress in academic achievement through the MI-based instruction. Finally, the students who chose their activity corner showed more positive self-directed learning attitudes than the students assigned to their dominant intelligence-based activity center.
