The effect of MgO buffer layer on the structural properties of sputter-grown ZnO thin film was investigated. Sapphire (0001) and Si (100) substrate were used for the growth and MgO buffer layer was inserted between ZnO thin film and the substrate. X-ray diffraction pattern indicated that enhanced crystallinity in the ZnO thin film grown was achieved by inserting very thin MgO buffer layer, regardless of the substrate type. The strain in the ZnO thin film could also be controlled by the insertion of the MgO buffer layer, and tendency of the strain was strongly dependent on the substrate type.

Abstract: We report the effects of Sb content on the charge transport and power factor of Bi2-xSbxTe3(1.56 ≤ □ ≤ 1.74) compounds prepared by hot pressing. From the temperature-dependence of the electrical conductivity, it was found that the charge transport in the compounds was predominantly governed by acoustic phonon scattering, and additionally affected by ionized impurity scattering. Hole concentration increased with increasing Sb content due to the generation of antisite defects, and its process-dependence is discussed in comparison with our previous work. The room-temperature mobility of the compound gradually decreased with increasing Sb content due to the intensification of ionized impurity scattering by the antisite defects, however, the effect of grain boundary scattering on the mobility could not be observed. The Seebeck coefficient decreased with the increase in Sb content, and this effect was interpreted in terms of the carrier concentration and the density-of-state (DOS) effective mass. The DOS effective mass was estimated by Pisaernko relation, and it increased from 0.75 (□ = 1.56) to 0.97 (□ = 1.74) with increasing Sb content due to the non-parabolicity in the valence band of Bi2-xSbxTe3. Based on these results, the effects of Sb content on the power factor were discussed, and the highest power factor of 37.2 × 10-4 Wm-1K-2 was obtained in the Bi0.3Sb1.7Te3 compound at room temperature. This study focuses on the fabrication of a WC/Co composite powder from the oxide of WC/Co hardmetal scrap using solid carbon in a hydrogen gas atmosphere for the recycling of WC/Co hardmetal. Mixed powders are manufactured by mechanically milling the oxide powder of WC-13 wt% Co hardmetal scrap and carbon black with varying powder/ball weight ratios. The oxide powder of WC-13 wt% Co hardmetal scrap consists of $WO_3$ and $CoWO_4$. The mixed powder mechanically milled at a lower powder/ball weight ratio (high mechanical milling energy) has a more rapid carbothermal reduction reaction in the formation of WC and Co phases compared with that mechanically milled at a higher powder/ball weight ratio (lower mechanical milling energy). The WC/Co composite powder is fabricated at $900^{\circ}C$ for 6 h from the oxide of WC/Co hardmetal scrap using solid carbon in a hydrogen gas atmosphere. The fabricated WC/Co composite powder has a particle size of approximately $0.25-0.5{\mu}m$.
신경병증성 통증과정의 NMDA 수용체 활성과 칼슘통로 α2δ1 Subunit의 영향

Background: Several studies have indicated that a nerve injury enhances the expression of the voltage-gated calcium channel ${\alpha}2{\delta}1$ subunit (Cav ${\alpha}2{\delta}1$) in sensory neurons and the dorsal spinal cord. This study examined whether NMDA receptor activation is essential for Cav ${\alpha}2{\delta}1$-mediated tactile allodynia in Cav ${\alpha}2{\delta}1$ overexpressing transgenic mice and L5/6 spinal nerve ligated rats (SNL). These two models show similar Cav ${\alpha}2{\delta}1$ upregulation and behavioral hypersensitivity, without and with the presence of other injury factors, respectively. Methods: The transgenic (TG) mice were generated as described elsewhere (Feng et al., 2000). The left L5/6 spinal nerves in the Harlan Sprague Dawley rats were ligated tightly (SNL) to induce neuropathic pain, as described by Kim et al. (1992). Memantine 2 mg/kg (10 ul) was injected directly into the L5/6 spinal region followed by $10{\mu}l$ saline. Tactile allodynia was tested for any mechanical hypersensitivity. Results: The tactile allodynia in the SNL rats could be reversed by an intrathecal injection of memantine 2 mg/kg at 1.5 hours. The tactile allodynia in the Cav ${\alpha}2{\delta}1$ over-expressing TG mice could be reversed by an intrathecal injection of memantine 2 mg/kg at 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 hours. Conclusions: The behavioral hypersensitivity was similar in the TG mice and nerve injury pain model, supporting the hypothesis that elevated Cav ${\alpha}2{\delta}1$ mediates similar pathways that underlie the pain states in both models. The selective activation of spinal NMDA receptors plays a key role in mediating the pain states in both the nerve-injury rats and TG mice.
