        In the conventional thermal diffusivity measurement by the flash method that uses a simple theoretical relation between the half-time and the thermal diffusivity, the effect of graphite layers on both front and rear surfaces are often neglected. In the present study, theoretical assessment is carried out about the error of the half-time method that is caused by the presence of the graphite layers, and the minimum thickness ratio required for accurate measurement by the half-time method is found. And theoretical equations of the temperature rise at the rear surface are used to find the thermal diffusivity of the samples for both models; single layer model and 3-layer model including two graphite coating layers.

        국내 원전 RCS 분기배관에 대한 열피로 선정기준

        Piping failures due to thermal fatigue have been widely reported in normally stagnant non-isolable reactor coolant branch lines. Since the thermal fatigue due to thermal stratification was not considered in the piping fatigue design in old NPPs, it is important to evaluate the effect of thermal stratification on the integrity of branch lines. In this study, geometrical screening criteria for Up-horizontal branch lines in MRP-132 were applied to SI(Safety Injection) lines of KSNP 2-loop and WH 3-loop. Some computational fluid dynamic(CFD) analyses on the Reactor Coolant System(RCS) branch lines were also performed to develop the regulatory guidelines for screening criteria. As a result of applying MRP-132 screening criteria, KSNP 2-loop and WH 3-loop SI lines are determined to need further detailed evaluation. Results of CFD analyses show that both valve isolation and amount of leakage through valve can be used as technical bases for the screening criteria on the thermal fatigue analysis.

        Piping failures due to thermal fatigue have been widely reported in normally stagnant branch lines connected to reactor coolant system (RCS) in nuclear power plants (NPPs). Since the thermal fatigue due to thermal stratification was not considered in the piping fatigue design in old NPPs, it is important to evaluate the effect of thermal stratification on the integrity of branch lines and to prepare inspection and management program against the thermal fatigue. In this study, some computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analyses on the branch line connected to RCS in domestic NPP were performed to develop the regulatory guidelines for screening criteria and fluid analysis for the thermal fatigue evaluation. The result shows that both valve isolation and amount of leakage through valve can be used as technical bases for the screening criteria on the thermal fatigue analysis. The turbulent model, buoyancy model, and piping thickness should be adequately considered in the CFD analysis.

        알콜 중독과 관련된 횡문근 융해증에 의한 급성 신부전의 임상적 특성

        Alcohol can cause rhabdomyolysis by either direct toxicity or associated metabolic abnormality such as hypophosphatemia and hypokalemia. It can also predispose to or cause trauma, seizures, or comainduced ischemic pressure necrosis. In order to investigate the clinical features of acute renal failure caused by alcohol induced rhabdomyolysis, we reviewed the medical records of the 12 patients. All patients had been drinking much amounts of alcohol for several years. All patients showed elevation of muscle enzyme such as creatine phosphokinase, lactic dehydrogenase, aspartate transaminase and blood urea nitrogen and serum creatinine. Predisposing factors of rhabdomyolysis were ischemic compression due to unconsciousness and dehydration(2 cases), and hypophosphatemia and dehydration(1 case), seizure and dehydration(1 case), and only severe dehydration(3 cases). Initial symptoms were painful swelling at lesion site(5 cases), abdominal pain(2 cases), general ache(2 cases), leg pain without swelling(1 case), dyspnea(1case), and lethargy(1 case). Seven patients developed delirium tremens during recovery stage. Eight patients showed oliguric acute renal failure and 8 patients were treated with hemodialysis. Complications were disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC)(3 cases), compartment syndrome(2 cases), capillary leak syndrome and DIC(1 case). One of 12 patients died of disseminated intravascular coagulation and other patients showed complete recovery of renal function.
