In this study we simulated the sleeved projectile which is composed of metal(sleeve) and polymer(core) by using the explicit finite element method. We used the penalty method to consider contact between the sleeve and the core. In simulation, polymeric materials were modeled using viscoelastic constitutive relations with the relaxation time and the shear modulus. We have carried out the numerical simulation for the transient deformation characteristics. The simulation results showed similar behaviors to the well-known experimental ones.

Recently, many researches have been accomplished from defense industry in order to improve protection ability of the armored vehicle. Non-explosive reactive armour(NxRA) and non-enegetic reactive armour(NERA) consist of inert materials sandwiched between two plates. When struck by a shaped charge’s metal jet or kinetic energy missile, the kinetic energy of metal jet or kinetic energy missile, which is consumed during penetration, is used to cause a bulging of the plates. Therefore, it is important to increase bulging velocity in order to improve protection ability of the NERA and NxRA. In this paper, we used viscoelastic materials as inert materials for NERA. In this regard, we need to understand the dynamic impact behavior of viscoelastic materials. To determine solver type, we simulated Taylor impact test using SPH solver and Lagrangian solver included AUTODYN. From simulation results, we observed that Lagrangian solver is independent of the total number of mesh, but SPH solver is very sensitive to the number of particles. To determine the viscoelastic parameters for maximizing bulging velocity, we used inert cassettes, in which the viscoelastic materials were used as inert layer. By changing the parameters such as short-time shear modulus, long-time shear modulus and decay constant, we observed the bulging velocity in the typical cassette system. And we determined viscoelastic parameters by trial-and error approaches.
연곡천 송림보에서 어도의 개선에 따른 어류 종 조성 변화

우리나라에서는 2020년에 생태계 건강성 측면에서 어류의 상하류 간 종적연결성 평가법에 대한 연구개발에 착수하였다. 본 연구는 최근 어류이동을 위한 아이스하버식 어도의 횡단구조물 개선이 이루어진 연곡천 송림보에서 2015~2020년 장기간 동안 보의 상하류 회유성 어종 이동성, 어류분포 특성, 섭식길드, 내성도 길드 및 종조성 변화를 분석하였다. 어류는 총 36종 5,136개체가 채집되었으며, 주요 회유성 어류는 황어(Tribolodon hakonensis), 은어(Plecoglossus altivelis altivelis), 연어(Oncorhynchus keta)로 3종이 확인되었다. 어도의 개선 이전(Pre-I)과 이후(Post-I) 비교분석에 따르면, 상류구간에서 일차담수어의 상대풍부도는 증가한 반면, 회유성 어종은 감소하였다. 송림보의 상/하류구간에서 어도(Fishway)를 이용하는 어류는 황어(58.4%), 은어(11.8%)로 나타났고, 상/하류 구간의 Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test에 따르면, 회유성 어류는 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 보여(p<0.05), 횡단구조물에 대한 생물학적 개선효과를 보였다. 한편, Mann-Kendall trend test 기반의 회유성 어류의 연별 변화는 유의한 수준(p>0.05)의 증가 혹은 감소의 경향은 확인되지 않았다. 따라서 어도의 개선 사업 시에는 물리적, 수리수문학적, 구조적 테스트뿐만 아니라 사전 및 사후의 어도이용 및 개선 효과에 대한 생물학적 시험도 반드시 필요할 것으로 사료된다. In 2020, South Korea initiated research and development of a longitudinal connectivity evaluation between upstream and downstream based on stream ecosystem health. This study analyzed the migration of upstream and downstream migratory fish species, fish distribution characteristics, trophic guilds, tolerance guilds, and species composition changes from 2015 to 2020 at Songrim weir in Yeongok stream, where the cross-structure of an ice harbor-type fishway for fish movement was recently improved. A total of 5,136 fish, including 36 species, were collected and three major migratory fishes were identified, namely, Tribolodon hakonensis, Plecoglossus altivelis altivelis, and Oncorhynchus keta. According to the comparative analysis before (Pre-I) and after (Post-I) improvement of the fishway, the relative abundance of primary freshwater fish increased in the upstream section, while the number of migratory fishes decreased. The fish species that used the fishway in the Songrim weir were Tribolodon hakonensis (58.4%) and Plecoglossus altivelis altivelis(11.8%). According to the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test migratory fish showed a statistically significant difference (p<0.05) in the upstream and downstream, showing a biological improvement effect of the crossstructure. On the other hand, the annual change of migratory fish based on the MannKendall trend test did not significantly increase or decrease (p>0.05). Therefore, in the fish passage improvement project, it is necessary not only for physical, hydrological, and structural tests, but also for pre- and post-biological tests on the use and improvement effect of fishway.

Screw extrusion processings are being used in many cases for blending or compounding in order to produce uniform mixtures of more than two different materials. As far as mixing in a single-phase flow is concerned in the single-screw extrusion process a striation thickness can be considered as a mixing measure. In the two-phase immiscible mixing system, however, due to combination of shear rate and interfacial tension on the drop interface, drops easily tend to be in the status of large elongation and eventually breakup under the repetition of the flow with high shear near the barrel surface and low shear near the screw walls. Recently, deformation and breakup mechanism of an immiscible drop were investigated experimentally in a screw channel flow, which mimics the flow in the metering section of section of the single-screw extruder. They presented the flow visualization results of drop deformation patterns and observed the peculiar thread deformation of drop as the comet-like thread. In our research, the numerical simulations by using the commercial software were carried out to understand the drop deformation and breakup mechanism and compared with the experimental results.

저자들은 68세 여자에서 가역적 청력손실을 동반한 쯔쯔가무시병을 경험하였기에 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. 환자는 의식혼탁을 주소로 내원하여 시행한 쯔쯔가무시혈청 항체 검사상 양성으로 독시사이클린 200 mg로 치료하였고, 청력손실을 호소하여 시행한 뇌 자기공명영상에서 청력손실의 병변이 확인되었다. 환자의 청력은 추가적인 치료없이 점차적으로 완전히 회복되었다. Scrub typhus, which is caused by Orientia tsutsugamushi, is an acute febrile illness characterized by fever, rash, and myalgia. Recently, its incidence in Korea has increased. Many cases of scrub typhus with central nervous system involvement have been reported, while cases with hearing loss are rare. We experienced a case of scrub typhus with reversible hearing loss. To our knowledge, this is the first case confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging. (Korean J Med 77:793-796, 2009)
헬스케어용 가다랑어(Katsuwonus pelamis) 통조림의 제조 및 특성

This study was conducted to prepare canned skipjack tuna Katsuwonus pelamis in the mixture of isotonic beverage and tomato paste (ST-S) for use as a health food. An analysis of the time-temperature profile and viable cells showed that a reasonable F0 value for ST-S preparation was 4 min. The proximate composition of ST-S was 76.8% moisture, 20.2% crude protein, 0.8% crude lipid, 1.7% ash and 0.5% carbohydrate. The calorie content of ST-S was 94.8 kcal, which is 47.4% lower than that of commercial canned skipjack tuna in oil (ST-O) and 2.2% lower than that of commercial chicken breast in water (CB-B). The total amino acid content of ST-S was 18.54 g/100 g, which is 31.4% lower than that of ST-O and 7.9% lower than that of CB-B. The major amino acids in ST-S were aspartic acid and glutamic acid. An enrichment effect due to such minerals as phosphorus, potassium and iron would be expected on consuming 100 g of ST-S. The major fatty acids in ST-S were 16:0 (27.4%), 18:1n-9 (14.3%) and 22:6n-3 (27.8%), which are different from those in ST-O and CB-B. The major free amino acids in ST-S were glutamic acid (8.1%), histidine (38.6%) and its related dipeptide, such as anserine (15.7%). In an evaluation of taste, flavor and color, ST-S was found to be superior to ST-O and CB-B.

Periorbital edema is a rare manifestation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We describe here a patient with bilateral periorbital edema as a presenting symptom of SLE. A 23-year-old woman was admitted for a sudden onset of severe periorbital edema that developed 7 days previously. On the basis of the malar rash, arthritis of the right hand and left wrist, leukopenia, proteinuria and the positive anti-nuclear and anti-dsDNA antibodies, she was diagnosed with SLE. Kidney biopsy revealed lupus nephritis (WHO class IV). After treatment with high dose of steroids, intravenous cyclophosphamide and daily hydroxychloroquine, her symptoms resolved, including the periorbital edema. She was discharged with prescriptions for prednisolone and hydroxychloroquine and she remains well.

This study evaluated the possible used of white muscle from cooked skipjack tuna as a constituent of diet foods. White muscles from the belly and dorsal area of cooked skipjack tuna were identified as anterior, median, and posterior. The skipjack tuna white muscle contained more moisture and ash (except for part I in both the belly and dorsal muscles) than chicken muscle, white it had less crude protein and crude lipid (except for part II in belly muscle). The yield was the highest in part I of both the dorsal and belly parts among the various parts of white muscles. The skipjack tuna white muscle contained 14-18% fewer calories than chicken breast muscle. Part I from both the belly and dorsal muscles had higher total amino acid contents than the other parts, but lower contents than chicken breast muscle. White muscle of skipjack tuna was rich in minerals, such as phosphorus, iron, and zinc. The total free amino acid content of part I in the belly and dorsal muscles was 1,152. 1 and 1,215.7 mg/100 g, respectively, and was 1.7-1.8 times higher than in chicken breast muscle. The major amino acids in the white muscles from skipjack tuna were taurine, histidine, anserine, and carnosine. Based on these results, if it is possible to mask the fish odor, all parts of the white muscle from skipjack tuna could be used as constituents of diet foods.

Background: Bronchiectasis (BE) remains a rare respiratory disease in Korea. This retrospective study was done to investigate the potential pathogenic microorganisms (PPMs) that cause in patients with BE, through the use of sputum specimens. Methods: One hundred eleven adult patients, who had undergone chest computed tomography (CT), sputum gram stain/culture, and BE detected by chest CT, were included in this study. Sputum adequacy was determined by using Murray-Washington classification. Results: The mean (±SD) age of patients was 60.9 (±14.0). The number of PPMs was 167 (67%) in the total 248 isolated organisms. The most frequent PPMs were P. aeruginosa (23.4%), K. pneumoniae (10.5%), and S. aureus (8.4%). The proportion of adequate sputum (AS) was 25.8% in the total sputum specimens. The patients with AS were 41 (37%) and the patients with inadequate sputum (IS) were 70 (63%). The proportion of P. aeruginosa was higher in AS compared to that of IS (44% vs. 19%, p=0.004). The BE score was also higher in P. aeruginosa (+) patients compared to that of P. aeruginosa (-) patients (10.8vs.7.6, p=0.001). Conclusion: Although the proportion of AS in the total sputum was low, PPMs were isolated in most patients with BE. It is likely that P. aeruginosa was isolated in AS and AS patients had higher BE scores.
