To establish the mass propagation methods, the effects of germination temperature, storage method and period, growth regulator and inorganic salts on seed germination were evaluated in Exochorda serratifolia S. Moore. Germination temperature was suitable at 20℃, and low temperature storage with dry, compared to wet storage, increased germination rate, while that according to storage period was no significance. Germination was 95.3% with 100 mㆍℓ⁻¹ GA3, 99.0% with 200 mㆍℓ⁻¹ IAA and 96.7% with 10 mM KNO3 treatment.

To establish the mass propagation methods of Weigela subsessilis,, a promising native plant species for horticultural use, several factors influencing rooting from stem cuttings were evaluated. Softwood cuttings showed best rooting rate, 70~77%, in all the cutting media tested, 2.8 times more than hardwood cuttings in which perlite was best medium. The rooting from hardwood cuttings was promoted by higher concentration of all growth regulators used,500 mg.L-1 NAA being the best with 80%. More than 80% of softwood cuttings treated by growth regulators produced roots, especially 100, 500, and 1000mg.L-1 NAA producing 97%. Roofings from semi-wood cuttings was enhanced by all the growth regulators, except 1000 mg.L-1 concentration in which rooting was reduce. Higher rooting rate was obtained by higher concentration and longer soaking duration of NAA in case of hardwood cutting. Softwood cutting showed 100 % rooting by soaking treatment with 500 mg.L-1 NAA for 3 min. Rooting rate of semi-hardwood cuttings was promoted by higher concentration and longer soaking with growth regulators, However, the degree of improvement was lower than soft and hardwood cutting.

The Linguistic Association of Korea Journal 23(4), 239-258. /j□/ and /□/ after consonants were perceptually confused with each other in Middle Korean because the articulatory domain of /□/ was placed in the front area of the phonetic vowel system and so was overlapped with the auditory domain of /j□/. For escaping this perceptual confusion the dispersion effects work here. Therefore the falling glide /j/ was inserted to the end of /j□/ in order to increase F2. As the result of the glide epenthesis, /j□j/ was maximally contrasted with /□/ by the minimization of perceptual confusion and /j□j/ developed diachronically through the process of /j□j/>/je/>/e/. Also /j□/ has synchronically been alternated with /e/ by the dispersion effects in some dialects in which /j□/ is articulated in the front area.
