아비투스 실천으로서 기 부르뎅의 패션사진 연구 -피에르 부르디외 이론을 바탕으로-

본 연구의 목적은 기 부르뎅의 패션사진을 피에르 부르디외의 아비투스 이론에 입각한 분석을 통하여 작가의 체화된 성향을 밝혀내고 내면의 조형기질과 아비투스 실천으로서 작품 특성을 분석하는 것이다. 연구대상으로 1950년대부터 1980년대까지 발표된 부르뎅의 작품들과 기사 등 관련 문헌을 살펴 보았다. 연구방법으로 부르디외의 아비투스 이론 및 사회학, 교육학 분야를 문헌고찰 하였으며 이를 바탕으로 부르뎅의 일대기와 작품사례를 분석하여 아비투스 특성을 도출하고 이의 실천으로서 작품 특성을 분석하였다. 아비투스는 개인이 속한 사회적 가치가 각인되고 주어진 자본을 거쳐 사회 구조와 개인 실천을 연결하는 매커니즘이며 예술활동은 사회, 문화, 시대적 관계가 투영된 경험의 산물이자 아비투스의 실천이므로 생산자 고유의 표현 특성을 갖게 됨을 파악하였다. 부르뎅의 아비투스 특성은 유아기 어머니에게 유기된 이후 불만족스러운 관계에서 형성된 여성에 대한 표상의 반복과 동시대 예술사조의 자기화이다. 부르뎅의 패션사진은 그의 사회적 장과 예술가의 공모에 의하여 창출된 상징 혁명으로 아비투스 실천으로서 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 1)초현실적 표현은 멘토 레이의 영향이자 부르뎅의 무의식이 표출되는데 여성의 인체에 대한 인식이 엿보인다. 2)죽음으로 귀결되는 아내와 애인들과의 관계에서 죽음에 매료된 극단적 상황연출이다. 3)여성과의 관계에서 감정교류가 결여되어 여체를 조형적 오브제로 나타내는 여성성의 도구화 표현이다. 4)여성에 대한 지배욕구가 내재된 남성 위주의 에로티시즘 표현이다. 부르뎅의 주요 표현 대상인 여성에 대한 인식은 초기 작품에 등장하는 자연물에 대한 시선에서 시작되는데 모두 목적에 따라 사용되는 수단에 불과한, 생명 본질과 특성은 배제된 채 오브제로 사용되는 경우가 많았다. The objective of this study is to reveal the artist’s embodied tendency and also to analyze the characteristics of works based on the internal formative disposition and the practice of Habitus, by analyzing Guy Bourdin’s fashion photographs based on Pierre Bourdieu’s Habitus theory. As the research subjects, this study examined the relevant literature such as Bourdin’s overall works and articles. As the research methods, after conducting the literature review on Bourdieu’s Habitus theory, sociology, and pedagogy, this study drew the Habitus characteristics by analyzing the biography and work cases of Bourdin, and then analyzed the work characteristics as its practice. Habitus is a mechanism that connects the social structure and individual practice after the social value of individuals is imprinted and goes through given capital. The artistic activities are not only the products of experiences reflecting the social, cultural, and temporal relations, but also the practice of Habitus, so the artist has his own characteristics of expression. Bourdin’s Habitus characteristics are the personalization of art trend and the repetition of women’s image formed in unsatisfactory relationship after being abandoned by mother in childhood. Bourdin’s fashion photographs are the practice of Habitus as a symbolic revolution. The results of the analysis are as follows. 1)The surrealistic expression shows his mentor Ray’s influences and the expression of Bourdin’s unconsciousness, which reveals his perception of woman’s body. 2)It is the representation of extreme situation fascinated by death in his relationships with lovers and wife resulting in death. 3)Due to the absence of emotional exchanges in relationships with women, the instrumentalized femininity is expressed by showing woman’s body as a formative objet. 4)It is the expression of man-centered eroticism containing his desire for controlling women. Bourdin’s perception of women as the main objects of expression started from his gaze upon natural objects shown in his initial works, and most of them were just used as objets which were no better than means used for the purpose when the essence and characteristics of life were all excluded.
